The Wahoo RPM Speed Sensor ANT+ Bluetooth is a slim and sleek speed sensor, and is easily placed on the hub of your front or rear wheel. You don't even have to mess around with magnets any more, as this sensor doesn't require them! The dual-band technology ensures your data is available to both smartphones and ANT+ compatible cycling computers. The Wahoo Fitness RPM uses Bluetooth 4.0 (also known as Bluetooth Smart), which is a very energy-efficient communication protocol. Use the Wahoo RPM to exercise with your iPhone, iPad, or compatible Android smartphone, and get your speed readout on virtually any cycling app. More information on compatibility can be found below. accurate measurement The dual-band technology allows data to be displayed on both smartphones and ANT+ cycling computers. The Wahoo Fitness RPM works with bluetooth smart or also called bluetooth 4.0. A very energy-efficient communication method. Use the Wahoo RPM speed sensor to exercise with your iPhone or Android smartphone, so that you can keep track of your speed in almost any cycling app. This is a improvement to, for example, apps that measure your speed based on the GPS signal. With a speedometer you still have an accurate speed measurement even in places where you have a bad signal. Ideal for use in the forest, for example. Function is OK as Garmin speed sensor 2, and it's much lighter than Garmin. However, the rubber bracket is made by cheap rubber. It broke after roughly 2 months use itself on the hub. BC did a good customer service, shipping me a free replacement bracket quickly. Moreover, the designer of the battery storage has no brain. It's impossible to open the cover with a coin as suggested by Wahoo to replace the battery. I had to use a flat screw driver, damaging the plastic cover and deforming the O-ring. The IP level is surely broken down after the replacement.

Bought this about a month ago to pair with my Elemnt Bolt (which I like a lot). Out of the box the unit would not pair. On investigation I found that the battery that came with the unit was dead. I was angry that this was the case but pressed on and inserted another battery. I linked up to my Elemnt Bolt and Strava and thought the issue was sorted. Four weeks and four brand new Duracell CR2032 batteries later (at a cost of £2.50 stg each) I have reached the end of my tether with this unit. All of the batteries last no more than one or two rides and sometimes no rides at all! Clearly there is an issue with these units as I have now read several other reviews where buyers have found the same issue. As a comparison I have run a Garmin ANT speed sensor for 3 years and 15,0000 miles and replaced the battery only once during that time. I only purchased the RPM Speed for the Bluetooth compatibility. I have been a very enthusiastic advocate of the Elemnt Bolt and have convinced a number of friends to switch from Garmin units. I would definitely not recommend this unit however.

I'll start by saying the sensor works fine when on the bike. The main issue I had with it is replacing the battery. It was darn near impossible to get the case open, I used coins, screwdrivers, fingernails and butter knives. Finally got it open, but it took a lot of effort. Its a poor design . The Garmin sensors have a switch that allows the case to open, much easier and much better design. I just purchased a new Garmin sensor to replace the Wahoo.

Can't get it to override the Wahoo in-app GPS mileage
5 May 2023

I have tried everything to get this to work with the Wahoo app... but it will not override the GPS mileage even though I have verified all the in-app settings. I researched troubleshooting... replaced the battery, hard reset, etc, nothing seems to make it work. I even wildly exaggerated the wheel circumference at one point to just see if it would override the GPS mileage... still nothing.

Easy to set up.
11 April 2023

I ordered this second sensor for my spare wheelset. It works as well as the first sensor and is very easy to set up, as is everything on the Wahoo system. What can I say? It's a speed sensor and tells you how fast you're going.I use a second sensor as it saves me swapping the sensor between wheels and making minor setup adjustments for the different tyre sizes.

Please copy Garmin's design and materials because it's better than Wahoo's
19 November 2022

This thing is nearly impossible to stretch into place on the front wheel hub, and is completely impossible to put on a slightly bigger rear hub. The three stretchy elements need to be slightly longer, or be made of a material that is more elastic. I broke one of the stretch elements trying to get it on my DT front hub axle, forcing me to have to buy a new one, which I actually was able to apply to my front wheel hub without breaking. You make good stuff at Wahoo, but this thing is poorly engineered and made from inferior materials.

Rubber strap is way too
8 August 2022

Rubber strap is way too small. Very difficult to install on my Boyd Altamont front rim and appears very prone to snapping. Item should come with 2 different sized straps, one for thin hubs, and another for thicker front hubs. Also expect more difficulty if you spoke count is higher or if you have larger hands.

Speed sensor mounting….!
30 December 2022

The sensor pairs easily, and works well. But the mounting is an industry worst. I have several because the rubber band is so problematic. The first one broke on installation, and it took a month to get a replacement from Wahoo. (Wahoo help is slow) The problem is they are big and dont fit well on modern large diameter narrow center hubs. Fit well on vintage hubs.Wahoo should supply or at least offer two size of bands.

Times change
3 October 2022

I could not attach to bike. I have a classic Campagnolo Chorus group set. The wheels have stepped diameters in the hubs. The sensor is too wide for the rear hub and the bands are too long for the front hub. Nothing wrong with the sensor just it does not fit hubs that were build over 40 years ago.

Works great! I have several
11 July 2022

I have one of these on each of my bikes so i don’t have to swap them out and they all work great! Seems to be accurate and reliable. I end up having to swap the batteries out about once a year with descent use through the summer riding season. Pairs easily to my Garmin edge 530 and easy updates when applicable through the wahoo app.
