A solid new WarioWare

A solid entry in the WarioWare series, although not the best. The main gimmick this time is that you switch between characters with different abilities after each minigame. The same minigames can vary wildly in difficulty depending on the character; for example, one character floats around freely in a ufo, while another jumps uncontrollably requiring extra finesse. Most of these characters are fun to use even if they aren't always effective, but a couple of them are too limited. (9-Volt moves on his own and your only control is you can tap 'A' to shoot a yo-yo upwards. As a result, all his minigames feel basically alike). As usual, the main story is pretty short and most of your time is spent either replaying levels for high scores or playing unlockable extra ... MoreA solid entry in the WarioWare series, although not the best. The extras are a bit sparser than usual, but one of them is really good; the Wario Cup. This is a weekly challenge mode where you're given various constraints and compete for a high score, comparing your score to people online. This is definitely a mode you should check out (you need a Nintendo Online subscription to submit your high scores online, but you can play the mode just fine without one).

The newest WarioWare entry for the switch is very fun, despite being a somewhat unexpected take on the series. This is a game that only contains minigames. The minigames are diverse sure, but what makes the game interesting is that the characters you select are all very different and will have very different ways to complete each minigame. The minigames are all 2D, and aren’t tech-gimmicky (no mic, no tilting, no touchscreen stunts), but instead are like 2D retro game challenges with weird settings and tasks. Overall, it’s super fun, but the story mode can be completed in less than 5 hours, and I didn’t feel like playing for more than 10 hours total. Super fun, but short. Maybe when friends come over, I’ll break it out for the multiplayer.

It's a WarioWare game!... but kind of short.
24 February 2022

If you have played a WarioWare game before, you know what to expect... and to expect the unexpected! You get to play the microgames as individual members of the WarioWare cast, each with their own unique abilities and quirks (some are definitely better than others). The microgames are generally solid and bizarrely hilarious, though a few are confusing and take a few plays to figure out. The downsides are that the Story mode is really short; you can easily knock it out in less than five hours, though earning high scores in each stage and unlocking every microgame do offer some replay value. Another downside is that you have to play Story mode to completion to unlock nearly all of the additional modes, including the "party mode" for up to four players. One further head-scratcher is the lack of motion controls; you don't even have to shake your controller in this game, which feels odd when WarioWare: Smooth Moves for Wii seemed to perfectly combine motion controls and microgames. Overall, if you love WarioWare, you will likely love this game, but it could stand to have more meat on its bones, especially for a $50, first-party title.

Jonathan's review of Nintendo Switch WarioWare: Get it Together!
17 September 2021

WarioWare: Get It Together! has been an amazing experience for myself that is definitely worth it - especially considering the lower retail price. I found the music tracks to be memorable and addicting to listen to, and the artwork featured throughout the game is very charming. The individual cutscenes showcasing the characters are simply enjoyable just to watch again and again, due to how delightful the artstyle is. The characters are arguably one of the best features of the game. They all shine with their own personalities and are distinctively different to each other - not just cosmetically, but in terms of their abilities. This is where some may become frustrated as some characters are more difficult to control than others, but I enjoy the diversity of switching ... MoreWarioWare: Get It Together! has been an amazing experience for myself that is definitely worth it - especially considering the lower retail price. This allows you to add your own challenge to the game, by attempting microgame playthroughs with characters you find more challenging to control. The game is filled with creativity and constant charm, and I found it very comedic right the way through. The replayability of the game is also astounding - it's incredibly addicting to go back to each set of microgames and aim for a high score. I would definitely recommend anyone - new fans and old alike - to try WarioWare: Get It Together! as it is a really well-made and amusing game.

Lacks what was really fun about older WarioWares
26 September 2021

For me, it's really missing what I enjoyed about older warioware games. I was hoping this would feel like 1-2 Switch blown out into a full game, it should have made full use of the Switch. That was the fun thing about old warioware games, especially Touched and Twisted.Playing as an onscreen character, especially a randomized one, makes you feel more disconnected from the microgames, making the spontaneity more stressful than exciting. By the time you figure out how a given character is supposed to solve a microgame, it's nearly over. The DS's touch screen and Twisted's tilt-sensitivity made gameplay feel fast and immediate; in Get It Together, you lumber around the screen (some characters are really not enjoyable to play as) in hopes of getting where you need to ... MoreFor me, it's really missing what I enjoyed about older warioware games. Being on the Switch, a console with more hardware capability than ever, this should have been amazing. It has enjoyable aspects no less, but I don't have the drive to play it that came naturally with previous games, and I really hope there will be another warioware on Switch in the future which will really do justice for both the series and the console itself

Rapid-fire, fast-paced fun
17 September 2021

The Wario Ware series is well-known for being frantic gaming at its finest with a giant sleuth of microgames (games that last for about roughly 5 seconds long and has you complete a simple, and even sometimes deceptively simple task within that time-frame) being thrown at you, challenging you to clear each one as the games get faster and faster. In addition, each title of the series keeps things fresh, providing a new way to experience the rapid-fire gameplay in unique and innovative ways, and Wario Ware: Get It Together! is no exception. The innovation for this title has you controlling a specific avatar through all of the microgames. There are also a variety of other modes with some allowing up to four players. You can also play via local connection if each player has their own Switch and copy of the game. While there is no online multiplayer, there is a specific weekly challenge mode that has players indirectly competing with one another through online rankings. In short, this game is a rollicking good time for all ages that can challenge both your reflexes as well as your mental acuity.

Unexpected hit solid game
25 March 2023

Really unexpected type of game. Almost like a Mario party mini game. But even faster and shorter games. Feels like almost perfect for the tik tok generation. I am not so sure on the depth of the game yet. In terms of replay value. But playing it a few hours. This is worth it and should be tried. Typical flawless Nintendo graphic, music and execution.

Warioware, a welcome change to an old formula
27 September 2021

This game is an interesting mix of wacky and fun and only occasionally hits that threshold of borderline fustration. Expect something different here from your traditional warioware experience. Instead of using quick reflexes and your own motion to win quick mini games, you will have playable character's moving around the screen with what you may call "abilities".During the story mode you are forced to use new character's as part of your arsenal in small story sections relating to each character which, in all honesty, the stories are silly and meaningless. But a funny little clip to experience most of the time can be enough to make it feel like it has some structure. And they are viable enough to get some laughs and trod the story along.Going back to the ... MoreThis game is an interesting mix of wacky and fun and only occasionally hits that threshold of borderline fustration. Sometimes characters abilities are usess and frustrating (possibly as a way to bolster difficultly of simple mini games) but luckily the story is only 2-3 hours long at most, depending on your playstyle. The after game is where all the real fun is at. Where all the additional modes are unlocked and you can have free reign to just play with your friends or family in different mode's. Such as battling in mini games to see who loses all their hearts first. Or just working together in your unlocked mini games in a randomised fashion. This is where the real excitement kicks in for some additional fun and modes to keep you locked in for hours longer!
