I believe my daughter might be allergic to the chemicals on some wipes and diapers, even the "organic" ones, but that has never been tested. All three of my daughters have skin issues with thick wipes so I much prefer the thin ones. The reason I bought those was because the daycare I was forced to put my daughter into (I was in the military and had absolute zero choice when it came to daycare) DEMANDED wipes and refused to use cloth diapers because they considered it unsanitary (at home I use gentle cloths and water, and cloth diapers). And when babies had rashes they would use harsh, wet paper towels which made the rashes much worse, and then once the skin broke, they would send baby home and that had a major negative effect on one's military career.. So I bought those to save my daughter's skin as well as my sanity. They are really pricey to give to a daycare that doesn't care about wasting, but they were what my daughter needed, and for that, I am thankful that I found them. Also, the daycare refused to leave the wipes in their original packaging and had to open the package to place them in a wipe box, which caused them to dry faster. The packaging is fine, the opening flap doesn't stay sticky for the whole life of the package but the wipes don't dry up inside it. One thing we noticed is that they are difficult to pull one at a time from the package, you often end up with 2 or 3 at a time. Also, when placing those in a diaper bag, they need to be placed with the opening at the top. Otherwise, they make the other things in the bag wet. Two of the packages I bought a year ago went through a big move from Missouri to New York state, and were in storage for months through the winter. I was afraid of using them after I got them out of storage, but they did not show any signs of mold and had no odor.

I have been a huge fan of the original WaterWipes as my pediatrician is not a fan of any baby wipes but these are 99.9% water so I figured they would be ok. They have been working out great for me, so I ordered in bulk to restock. When opening the boxes to put them away, my MIL noticed the difference in packaging. I read the labels and it seemed like the only difference was the size of the new bags and that the wipes were biodegradable. Great, I thought, better for the environment. In the wee hours of the morning, during a diaper change, the wipes in my warmer ran out. So I snagged one of the new and one of the old packages to refill it. I popped the OG in first, then opened the new one and man oh man did I get a whiff of something foul! There was a STRONG CHEMICAL ODOR that I wouldn't consider putting anywhere near my precious baby's bum. This certainly wouldn't be a pediatrician approved item! Proceeded to do what all mom's do in the wee hours of the morning, I went down the "new WaterWipes" rabbit hole on the internet. Posts popped up immediatly with many parents experiencing the SAME PROBLEM. Some poor babies even got horrible skin rashes from the product! I don't know what terrible oversight happened with WaterWipes, but this needs to be fixed! I will be using dry cotton wipes (Honest Brand) and adding sterile water to them myself until WaterWipes corrects this atrocious misstep.

Horrible "New Style"
5 June 2022

The “new look” is AWFUL! Seriously. I never write reviews, but it’s given my toddler a horrible rash. She hasn’t had a diaper rash that didn’t go away after one change and use of cream in over a year, but with this “new look” it’s been constant. It’s like it’s been burning her skin! I thought I noticed a slightly different smell, definitely noticed the texture and thickness were different, but I’m pregnant and thought I was just super sensitive. Nope, my husband mentioned it and we compared the smell of some of the “old style” vs “new style” and the new one smells like straight chlorine. We will not be purchasing these anymore. Ito very frustrating because we loved these, but the “new style” is certainly NOT the same and it’s awful.

Just Be Aware...
16 October 2022

Just Be Aware: I was a huge fan of the old formula wipes—for myself! I am very sensitive to chemicals, etc. so have to be careful with everything I use and the old wipes were absolutely perfect (as many know). Now, please be aware that the new wipes, though they seemed initially fine and there was no outer skin allergy, DID produce a chemical sensitivity for me, along the lines of an autoimmunity “brain fog” type reaction. Odd, but perhaps due to the production process and the new material. Not sure, but I am leaving a review only because it worries me that parents might not see an allergy reaction but it is possible the baby or child is left “feeling funny.” Watch your kids closely for any type of reactions! Mourning the loss of old perfect wipes!!

Just call the NEW ones 'Rubbing Alcohol Wipes'
26 May 2022

These were our go-to for our sensitive-skin babies for several years and were totally worth the premium price. NOT ANYMORE! I WOULD NOT BUY AGAIN! The new version are disgusting. They hands down smell strongly of rubbing alcohol. While both original and “new” formulas claim traces of Benzalkonium Chloride (which is an antiseptic), there is literally no way there wasn’t an increase in the amount of that ingredient or addition of some other undisclosed ingredient which is a massive lack of transparency. They are also smaller, thinner, and drier. All for the same premium price. If you’re looking for something scentless and wonderful for your sweet babe’s skin - look elsewhere.

Negative Changes To Size/Formula
19 September 2022

These wipes have changed for the worse over the last 6 or so months. I assume the R&D team at Water Wipes made some sneaky cost-cutting changes that they thought we just wouldn’t notice, but literally these are nearly unusable now. The total length of the wipes has shrunk by at least an inch if not more, which for some reason makes them IMPOSSIBLE to get out of our wipes dispenser, and it’s also more difficult to get them out of the package, too — they come out in a big clump of like 4 wipes, and they’re still completely folded up. When you’re dealing with an emergency poop explosion and holding down a wriggling toddler with one hand, you do not have the luxury of using both hands to painstakingly separate the wipes and unfold them!! These new changes seem like something done to keep lining the pockets of the C-Suite at the expense of the customer. As others have said, the quality of these wipes is no longer worth the increased cost for less product. Water Wipes is going to lose a lot of customers over these changes and unfortunately I am one of them.

New formula is terrible! PLEASE Bring back old formula!
10 September 2022

These wipes WERE amazing but now they are terrible. They smell bad, they are thinner and dry. WaterWipes had more customers than just people with children. I'm not a parent and I originally discovered waterwipes from another non-parent friend who recommended them to me as a make-up remover wipe. They worked way better than an actual make up wipe so I kept buying them and have been for about three years. Also, as a part-time van-lifer, my fiancé and I use these for multiple different uses. Now that they have changed the product, I am concerned about continuing to use these on my face. I hope they change the product back to the exact same way they used to be.

New version/look not as good!!
27 February 2023

The new version of these wipes are not as good! The old ones were larger, thicker, softer, more saturated, and odorless. They were sensitive on skin and felt non drying to skin. The new ones are smaller, thinner, rougher, dryer, and have a weird chemical type smell to them. It is harder to pull out just 1 wipe, which is fine bc you will want to use 2-3 or more at a time instead of just 1 now. They feel drying and irritating to skin now also. I will not repurchase these wipes any longer unfortunately, which I hate bc I have used them for years!! The old ones had many different uses for children and adults. I would for sure not use this new version on babies or small children as I think they could be irritating to skin. Smell like Chlorine
25 April 2022

I didn't want to believe all of the new, bad reviews. I've been using these since our LO was born in December '21 and was very happy with them despite the higher cost compared to competitors. They were gentle, moist, cleaned her bum well, and best yet didn't smell or cause a rash. But alas they have changed more than the packaging - the formula is 100% different. Several people mentioned a chemical smell to the wipes and I'll tell you what it is - it's CHLORINE! It's hard to avoid the smell once you open the package's seal. It smells like a swimming pool. No wonder so many reviewers have shared that their LO's have gotten rashes after using these new wipes. Ugh.
