Super easy install. Just take it out of the bag and pop it into the synology 1515+, then login to the synology and added it as a hot-spare to my existing volume.Of course, I'm not sure how it will hold up over time but my other WD drives have been spinning for 7.5 years so I think it will be fine.

Despite the out of date phone on Monoprice's website (it shows NAS 2.0 drive), I received a current NAS 3.0 drive. The drive was originally designated for Canada and I'm in USA, so it shows up as "Out of Region" when I register on WD's Support Portal; but I called and they confirmed it was fully under warranty for the full 3 years.Details:Model = WD40EFRX-68N32N0 (this is latest version)Firmware =82.00A82Build Date = 14-Feb-2019WDIDLE3 /R shows 300 seconds (correct setting for a Red)

Pros: Have a WD Nas drive for the last 4 years with same drives constantly running in a safer Raid 1 option in a to be honest not best cupboard for heat. Had a warning one drive had problems so bought same replacement drive replaced it and data was recovered from the remaining functioning drive. No down time and no data loss.
Price and functionality are great. Bought 3 of these and a Synology rack for a pretty affordable 6TB backup in a home NAS configuration. Don't notice any noise at all.
I needed a few high capacity drives for my home file server. Although they are a bit slow in transfer speeds compared to high-spec desktop drives but WD RED series drives claimed to be build with 24/7 operation in mind and TLER feature enabled which is great for home/SOHO file servers. These drives do work just fine storing a lot of data, being very quite and cool. Can't complain about anything except for 3yrs. of manufacturer warranty (Adorama VIP extends it for a year, though) which is a bit confusing for a NAS-ready 24/7 targeted drive. Special note on outstanding Adorama shipping: it was a double boxed with AirSeal padding.
Pros: Capacity is very good and I believe about the largest my NAS model will support.Cons: How can you rate reliability when it has just been installed? Two previous exact same model drives failed, the second after I had already purchased and had the failed drive exchanged, hence 5 rating. Also why the overall rating has been reduced as I am now afraid I could have issues in the future. Hopefully not!
Got these for my NAS. Instalation was very easy and now they do what they suppose to do. Protect your data.
Pros: Quick and quietCons: I have purchased these disks before. Two failed from the same batch. One within a year and the second within two years. However, they are guaranteed for three years and the process of getting a replacement works well. The second disk failed completely. The first did not fail but was replaced with an increasing number of bad sectors.
I just recently bought this HD to put into a new Synology NAS. No issues, and everything seems to be working as designed.The true test will be am I still 5-star happy years from now.
