This SSD has amazing read/write speeds therefore 20GB files transfer between directories within seconds. Even downloads from the cloud are much faster with this drive than with external storage.Installing the drive is very easy. It literally only takes a few seconds to plug it in. Your system should automatically recognize the drive and mount it for use within your OS. Depending on your OS you may have to manually set up the drive for use with your applications. My computer's performance has increased significantly since installing this SSD. I noticed the difference immediately. If you make this drive you primary boot drive, you will notice that your machine boots up in seconds. Even from a cold start, you will be at your desktop within 15 seconds. Simply amazing! This drive works great for virtualization as well. If you are a person that runs a virtual desktop or virtual machine on your laptop/desktop, this drive will give your VM spectacular performance. Your VM will perform like the native OS. No latency. No delay in accessing files. Outstanding!Video rendering and graphic creation is an awesome experience with the WD - Blue SN570 1TB Internal PCIe Gen3 x4 Solid State Drive. Importing files into the application is seamless and fast. Exporting is just as great. I do not experience any buffering or rendering delay, no frame drops when skimming clips, no issues at all. Just pure performance!I highly recommend the WD - Blue SN570 1TB Internal PCIe Gen3 x4 Solid State Drive. It will make your computing experience 1000 times more enjoyable.

This basically comes down to which version of PCI-E your motherboard supports. If you can support a PCI-E 4.0 (gen4) then I wouldn't buy this drive. If you are like me however, and your computer only supports PCI-E 3.0 (gen3) then this drive is an excellent choice not only for it's budget price but also for it's performance. I installed Windows 11 in under 20 minutes, and that's from start to finish, where you're logged in and on the desktop. There are probably other PCI-E 3.0 drives available with faster write speeds but this is the fastest read speed out of all PCI-E 3.0 (gen3) nVME SSD drives (confirmed by multiple websites that did testing) Western Digital makes quality products and I am always satisfied with my purchases. This is a budget drive but it's also fine for gaming as well. There's nothing worse than a person who buys a budget drive and then comes and complains how slow it is. If you want more speed, go spend more money, it's as simple as that. You get what you pay for, this is true for most things in life. If your computer supports PCI-E 4.0 (gen4) or higher, go buy a drive that is compatible with that instead of putting a 3.0 drive into a 4.0 motherboard. I replaced the 512gb drive that came with my laptop and there is not really any difference in speed, even though the 512gb drive was Samsung and had a larger cache, I never really noticed a difference between the two. I now have two WD Blue drives in my laptop, the 1TB SN570 is my main drive and I have a 1TB SN550 for a secondary drive. I am happy with my purchase and you will be too.

This is a simple process, and many good tutorials are available online. The one issue I had with the device, and my reason for 4 stars vs. 5 stars, was the failure of WD to include hold down screws and spacers. My PC did not have these, because I was installing the SSD in a machine that had only a traditional HDD. I first checked with Best Buy, and then ordered twice from an online retailer before getting what I needed to complete the install. WD could supply a few standoffs and screws in the two sizes normally encountered and make this a complete package for just a few pennies. It would have made my installation a 30 minute affair instead of dragging on for most of a week over a standoff and a screw.Overall, this SSD accomplishes exactly what one expects from an SSD. Extremely quick boot times and nearly instantaneous file access without the noise of the traditional spinning disc. The large 1TB capacity is also excellent for most users. Unless you're doing lots of video editing, storing large numbers of movies and TV shows, or have a huge photo library, this size should be sufficient.Best of luck choosing an SSD for your machine. If you pick this one, you won't be disappointed, just make sure you have the hardware to install!

Great performance at budget price

It seems ever since Sony updated the firmware in its PS5 to allow for external M.2 drives to be installed, they seem to be omnipresent, with deals and sales running constantly. To be absolutely clear, the SN750 is NOT for a PS5 as it is Gen 3 and not 4. It’s speeds don’t meet the PS5 specs. Nonetheless, it is an excellent addition to your PC rig whether you are gaming or photo/video editing. This is especially true given its cost. If you follow any tech websites, etc., it is well known that upgrading the type of storage is one of the best (and easiest) ways to increase the performance of your computer. Nonetheless, it is an excellent addition to your PC rig whether you are gaming or photo/video editing. This is especially true given its cost. If you follow any tech websites, etc., it is well known that upgrading the type of storage is one of the best (and easiest) ways to increase the performance of your computer. Not just in size, but speed. Solid state drives were better than traditional HDDs, and then M.2’s take it up a notch from solid state drives. I argue the difference between SSD to M.2 isn’t quite as drastic as going from a traditional HDD to SSD. But it’s still a noticeable difference, especially when you are transferring large amounts of files (or playing games).IN THE BOXIn the box is just the M.2 drive itself, which still surprises me how small it is. You also get the warranty manual (5 years, which is pretty great) and then you get a free month of Adobe Creative Cloud suite (which is pretty expensive itself but a nice addition).MY SETUPI am rocking an older Alienware Aurora R7. It’s still got a 1050GTX GPU, but since I mostly edit family videos and pictures, it works plenty fine. It comes with a M.2 slot and has space for 3 other HDDs. The M.2 slot was an Intel Optane M.2 which has 128 GBs of space. I never quite understood how effective the Optane memory, but luckily for me I had already disabled it when I upgraded my HDD to SSD a while back. So for me, putting this drive in my desktop was simply plug and play. I didn’t go through the effort to transferring my Windows files to the M.2 (in part because I was lazy) and was using this M.2 for additional, quick transferring storage. If you have a newer laptop (even one as old as 2015) you likely have a M.2 slot. But there are some caveats to installation that I’ll mention before (in the event you’re reading this and are a novice computer person or have never upgraded your storage).INSTALLATIONI just want to mention some caveats when replacing or adding new storage to your computer. It is by no means rocket science, but for those that haven’t done it before, I think it’s helpful to know before making the purchase so you know what to expect. If you are outright replacing your old storage (vs. using this M.2 to add storage like me) you will need to clone your current hard drive to the M.2 first. I’ve used Acroinis in the past. You’ll also need an M.2 USB enclosure (which are cheap). The idea is you use your new M.2 as external storage then use software to clone your old hard drive to the new M.2. From there, you can swap them out and then you’re good to go, with increased speeds. If you have Intel Optane M.2 memory already installed (and if you did, it’s likely a smaller GB size, like 128 GB in my case) then there’s a few extra steps to disable that feature on your computer before uninstalling. It might seem daunting, but I promise it isn’t. A little Google research will go a long way.PERFORMANCEAs I previously eluded to, I primarily use my desktop to edit videos. I do have some PC games that I play from time to time, but I mostly edit videos for fun (I’m not a professional in that regard). For editing, I need a large amount of space and I need it to be fast. For straight transferring of large data files, I was impressed. I was getting upwards of 3400 MB/s read speeds and close to 3000 MB/s write speeds. The speeds I was getting matched with what I expected (and what the SN750 was advertised to do).Practically speaking, I moved my Adobe software to this drive, where I transferred my unedited video footage and noticed a marked improvement in speed, both in loading files and rendering. It wasn’t something that was mind blowing, but it was noticeable. Did I necessarily need the additional boost in performance? No, but when loading and juggling large files, every little bit counts. And the speed of rendering on my timeline was impressive. I used to wait minutes to render longer video files, now it’s a fraction of that.I loaded some games onto the SN750 and I noticed similar improvements to load times. Again, nothing absolutely earth shattering, but it was certainly noticeable. It took the terribly long load screen in GTA V to something more manageable. Point is the performance gains are well worth it, especially given the cost.CONCLUSIONHard drives don’t get enough credit, even in today’s age. Upgrading your storage is the easiest and cost effective way to improve the performance of your PC. This WD Blue SN750 offers terrific performance at basement prices, all the while including 5 year technical support (which you hope to never have to use, but nice to have). There are of course faster drives out there, but for everyday use, including some video editing (maybe not on the professional level) it makes for an excellent value.

Improved performance on my budget laptop
8 December 2022

I had gotten a nice deal on a budget 15 inch Acer laptop last Thanksgiving although it came with only 256GB SSD. I thought that little storage would not be an issue since I was going to use the laptop mainly for browsing and emails. However, I fell in love with the laptop and I started using it more (storing photos / downloading movies for watching on plane). My laptop needed more hard drive space and an upgrade to 500GB SSD from Western Digital solved all my issuesThe actual upgrade is simple and there are lot of Youtube videos that explain this step. If you do not have hard drive enclosure I would recommend getting one before you start. The entire process took me close to 2 hours. The new WD Blue SN570 NVMe™ SSD was a perfect fit for my laptop. NVME Storage is King.
15 August 2022

In modern computers, NVME SSD storage is becoming a necessity due to their speed and reliability. They also have NO moving parts which make them great for laptops and desktops that might get moved around a lot.Traditional HDD storage is still king with storage size, but with more moving parts comes more possibilities for failure and while I've had several HDD's fail on me over my 24 years of building computers, I have yet to have an SSD or NVME drive failure in it's lifetime of use. That's what makes drives like this WD Blue SN570 so great. It's a decent storage size that can either be your boot drive with your operating system or it can be your secondary drive with your files and games.I used 2 of these, 1 in my fathers desktop computer as his main and only ... MoreIn modern computers, NVME SSD storage is becoming a necessity due to their speed and reliability. Outstanding NVMe SSD drive for laptops and NAS!
16 February 2022

I was looking for NVMe SSD drive for my laptop as well as for Synology NAS for SSD cache. I have used many NAS Drives from Western Digital and they never disappointed me. All WD RED NAS drives are running more than 7+ years without any issues. I got Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SN570 NVMe Internal Solid State Drive (WDS100T3B0C). It came with SSD drive and owner's manual. Setup is very easy and installed the SSD drive on my gaming laptop quickly as primary drive and reinstalled windows 11. The performance of the drive is outstanding and windows 11 installation completed less than 10 mins.I have done various testing with applications like Lightroom, photoshop and all applications loaded much faster than previous setup. The BLUE color drives are best for everyday consumer use. The NVMe technology delivers up to 3500 MB/sec and read up to 2300 MB/sec. I have purchased two more WD Blue drives and installed it in Synology NAS for SSD Cache and it is working without any issues. The read / write cache perfmance is outstanding in NAS and any data read / write operations are instantaneous now using these drives for SSD cache and the combination of LAN link aggregation. This drive has backward compatibility with PCIe Gen3x1, PCIe Gen2x4, PCIe Gen2x2 and PCIe Gen2x1. It comes with 5 year manufactuer warranty. I am impressed with the read / write results of WD Blue SN570 and highly recommend this drive for gaming, photo editing and NAS SSD cache for faster read / write operations.

Simple, reliable NVMe Storage
16 February 2022

Western Digital's Blue drives are about as workmanlike a storage solution as you can hope to find. They're not exceptionally fast, nor do they come with a host of specialized features or attractive styling. But they are sturdy, affordable, and easy to work with. And the SN570 carries on this tradition. The drive has a fairly basic single-sided layout without any kind of heat spreader or other cooling solution, so installation is unlikely to be an issue in just about any platform with space for a 2280 module. No mounting screws are included in the box, which is pretty typical but worth pointing out in case the machine you want to install it in didn't come with any extras. No mounting screws are included in the box, which is pretty typical but worth pointing out in case the machine you want to install it in didn't come with any extras. In my case I used it to fill out the second SSD slot in my daily driver laptop, and installation only took about ten minutes total. As expected there were no issues initializing the drive and it offered a total of 930gb of extra storage (the remainder is reserved for overprovisioning by the drive controller.)As far as performance goes, it's acceptable but certainly nothing to get excited about. Theoretically the drive is capable of reaching speeds upwards of 3000mb/s, but any time it gets up around 2000 it starts heating up a fair bit and ends up throttling back down. It likely would have performed a bit better if I installed it in a desktop with a heat spreader to keep temps under control, but that feels a little bit excessive here. Write speeds fare a little better but run into their own issues with the included cache, which uses SLC flash rather than the DRAM you might find in higher tier drives. On the one hand this does mean that the drive is less likely to lose data in the event of a sudden power outage, definitely a plus if you happen to be one of the content creators they're marketing this towards, but it's also slower to empty out and isn't large enough to provide a noticeable improvement for larger operations. As such you might want to think twice if you plan to use this as a boot drive. It's certainly better than a SATA drive or hard disk, but it would definitely end up chugging in that role.And... that's about it. The days I spent testing the thing were about as mundane as you can get, with no real surprises in performance or temperature to report. And for a large storage drive aimed at content creators, that's definitely a feature rather than a bug. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to expand their storage without having to resort to older tech.

Solid value for performance and capacity
19 February 2022

The Western Digital "Blue" SN570 1 TB NVMe drive is a great performer at a very reasonable cost. Since it's a DRAMless drive, it will be slightly lower power consumption and slightly lower raw performance (especially for random read/write) than the higher end SSDs with a DRAM cache. I was seriously impressed with the performance of the drive vs my expectations given the low cost. For my needs, the biggest advantage to having an extra 1TB NVMe drive paired to the existing 1TB NVMe in my PC is the ability to work with large video files at very high export and import speeds. In terms of raw benchmark speeds, the SN570 hits a very respectable 2500 MB/s in large sequential writes (and 3500 MB/s for sequential reads). For a mid-range PCIe 3.0 x4 drive, that's very quick. ... MoreThe Western Digital "Blue" SN570 1 TB NVMe drive is a great performer at a very reasonable cost. In terms of real-world performance, this is about 2.5-6 times faster than my external SSD (which slows down pretty dramatically after the first few GB of a transfer). When working on a video for upload, this kind of speed difference makes a huge difference in time saved when finishing and exporting the video. The performance stays pretty consistent in my experience - maybe because I'm comparing to the OEM NVMe SSD in my laptop and an external NVMe SSD and not the latest and greatest high end drives.I like the drive so much I'm considering purchasing a second drive to add to a gaming laptop. Definitely a 100% recommendation from me.
