Bought two of these when they were on sale. One for my PS5 and the other for a new PC build. The one I put in my PS5 worked flawlessly, however, the second one appears to be defective as it would not be seen by the MSI B550 bios. I put a different M.2 unit in and it saw it immediately. I then added it to a secondary slot but Windows stated there was a critical error with it. Tried to contact WD on this issue and apparently there seems to be some issue with these drives and their serial numbers allocated to Best Buy as there was a post on their forums. This means acquiring a RMA will be challenging.

A complete game changer as games loads even faster than the stock internal SSD that came in the console.Other thoughts I would strongly recommend adding a heat sink. I used a MHQJRH M.2 2280 SSD heatsink, Double-Sided Heat Sink, with Thermal Silicone pad for PC / PS5 M.2 PCIE NVMe SSD or M.2 SATA SSD and it fit in the bay perfectly.

An incredibly fast SSD all around. I'm using it as my boot drive and I've never seen Windows be so responsive. Just about anything saved on the drive loads pretty much instantly. When GPU-accelerated loading makes its way to PC, this will likely make even the largest games load seamlessly.Note that WD tends to price their new SSDs pretty high, then step them down to match their competition. It's around $230 at the time of writing. If you can wait for a price drop or sale, you could save yourself a good chunk of cash.

Is rarely recognized by the bios correctly, speed on the drive is good but there are so many issues with this drive that it's almost unbearable I had the drive for a few months and literally had to return it because of it not working or being recognized. If you Google you will come across numerous people saying the same thing.
If you've done your research, you'd know that casual users (like myself) won't really see major benefits from moving from gen3 to gen4 m.2 drives. Buuuut quite frankly, the fact that my motherboard supports gen4 is good enough for me to "upgrade," then give a buddy of mine my old gen3 drive as a gift.A TB is a TB no matter which way you slice it and with games taking more and more space, if you have the money then this is worth it unless you feel like paying top dollar for another brand.
Decided to get this over the Samsung 980 pro due to reports that you needed to update Samsung in a PC to unlock higher speeds. Paired the WD Black SN850 1TB with a basic low profile heatsink to fit in the PS5. Works perfectly and has a read speed over 6500. Plays PS5 games perfectly and transfer games so quickly. Very happy with my decision.
Solid state drives tend to be quite reliable so i won't harp on that much (i haven't noticed anything to suggest otherwise)..What i want to emphasize with this drive is the speed. This thing is blistering fast, as are most PCI-e Gen 4 drives. I bought this one in particular because it was well reviewed and rated, it was on sale, and it was one of the fastest PCIe Gen 4 drives available. I usually go for the Samsung m.2 drives, but i thought i'd switch it up - so far i don't have any regrets.If you're thinking about buying one, make sure your motherboard is PCIe gen 4 compatible first.
Picked this up to upgrade my PS5, and I'm am very happy with my purchase. You do have to get a 3rd party heatsink, but you can find a quality one on amazon for 12-20 bucks. I got it through the black Friday sale so between that and the heatsink I came out spending 80 bucks less than the same version of this ssd with the integrated heatsink. Since the PS5 requires a gen 4 ssd options are a little limited, but this should be one of your tip choices.

I put it into my new Acer Preditor Helios 300 gaming laptop that I also got from Best Buy. I put it in as the second Ssd. It works great and incredibly fast. I had to look up online how to format the drive after putting it in the laptop which was very easy and then it works excellent
