Weber Barbecue Compact Kettle 47 cm in Diameter Black
Compact by name and compact by nature, the lovely little Weber Compact 47cm barbecue is ideal for anyone short on space or perfect for someone dipping their toe into the world of barbecuing for the first time. That said, the 47cm triple-plated cooking grate still gives you an impressive 1735cm² cooking area which should be more than sufficient for four people so is perfect for small families or couples to use at home or pop into their car or caravan to use at a campsite or beach etc. (where permitted!) Excellent for everyday use, the Weber Compact 47cm barbecue still boasts the build quality and some of the key features you would expect from any Weber barbecue throughout the range. The porcelain-enamelled bowl is shallower than any of Weber ’s other kettles to help with portability but still possesses a rust-proof vent at the bottom to assist air flow for perfect barbecuing and a weather-proof handle. The lid is also porcelain-enamelled, and again contains a rust-proof aluminium vent as well as a weather-proof handle with an added protective heat shield for safety. Easy to clean, the Compact 47cm also includes a no-rust aluminium ash catcher that sits high up between the three legs. At the bottom of the stand is a convenient triangular shelf for placing food or accessories as well as two crack-proof all weather wheels to assist with mobility of the barbecue. Included with the Weber Compact 47cm barbecue is a useful charcoal measuring cup which will help keep the amount of briquettes used consistent and in-turn the temperature controlled and your cooking timings familiarized, meaning perfectly cooked food every time!

This looks almost exactly like the one i bought 20 years ago and still have. I moved house with it at least seven times. During the lockdown our family has enjoyed it more than in all our previous years of ownership! We've had steak and pizza recently and over the years it's been used for kebabs and satay. Next up will be a long-cooking casserole. It has withstood rain and sun and the only complaint I have is that the last time someone set it up the handle ended up on the wrong side and now the screws are rusted in so we can't change it! But it isn't going anywhere anyway. I also had to buy a new top grill (we didn't take good enough care of the original one) and that was easily available.

Firstly, I am new to the heat bead/charcoal grilling world. Was introduced by a friend who bought his Weber Go Anywhere on a work trip recently. As a family of 4, I was looking to get something with a decent capacity, but not looking to do long low and slow cooks....this 57cm Compact Kettle fits that list perfectly.I was daunted by the whole fuel idea, but in reality it is pretty straightforward....patience is the key....time and preparation is needed before cooking.I have managed some tasty cooks mostly chicken chops, fat steaks & spare ribs....you simply cannot recreate this flavour!!Be careful not to overcrowd the cooking surface. This is all a bit addictive, there are some amazing accessories out there which I am looking into now, as I type this....ha ha!

First time I received it the box was in good condition but the bowl was chipped and had a lot of damage around the lip with the loose flakes of paint in the bottom of the box, under heat it would have gotten worse.Appliances Online swapped it with a brand new unit no problems.Second unit came with a missing nut, had to go to bunnings and grab a set of nut and screw as the threads of the Weber screws would not marry properly with bunnings same size nuts.Otherwise the quality is ok, the nuts that marry the handles to the bowls are quite flimsy so make sure you get the handles right first time, otherwise the Australian cook book and other tools included in the box are of decent quality. The BBQ is quite heavy, which is a good thing in my opinion. Also the ... Unlike most kettle BBQs - this is a proper heavy bowl; easy to put together , nice touches : heat guard on top handle drip tray below bowl decent wheels that work Very pleased
Very happy with the BBQ (as expected from a Weber product). The shape. size and positioning of the vents enable good control over the BBQ.It was packed very efficiently into the box so it took a bit longer than I expected to put it all together but it was a fairly straightforward exercise. One minor issue is that a finer mesh on the bottom grill (on which the charcoal & wood sit on) would have been helpful. The charcoal I bought (as is common here) had many small pieces that fell through to the bottom and didn't burn.
Bought this to replace an existing Weber kettle bbq of the same size. The long term weakness of the first one was the aluminium bottom vent and ash catcher, which was always fiddly. Glad to see that this one does not have the same arrangement, although Weber do still make models with it so beware! This one looks decent quality and should last for years. It comes as a kit of parts which have to be assembled and some people may struggle to follow the pictorial instructions, which are pretty poor. That said, it’s not that hard to figure out without the instructions.
Decent BBQ, great for if you're starting out for don't have a lot of space. You can grill around 12 sausages, 12 pieces of chicken and 4 burgers comfortably at once and if you invest in some of the other Weber accessories, you can cook a large variety of other things too. I recommend also getting the starter chimney, it saves about 15 minutes when heating coals and its even quicker if you get decent wood charcoal and not the stuff from the super markets. I haven't tried smoking anything yet but looks like it is capable with the right accessories.
We are very pleased with our purchase, as this is a sturdy, really good value barbecue that lights and cooks well. We used much less charcoal than in our old barbecue, and the food was cooked better and in less time. Assembly is reasonably straightforward, but a bit fiddly in places so I would strongly recommend using two people, as we did. There is one minor, but annoying design flaw in that the lid damper assembly (which you use to control cooking temperature) and the lid hook are attached by the same bolt. This means that you either have a lid damper which fits too tightly to operate properly, or a loose lid hook which flops around and could be hazardous if the lid fell off it. In the end, we decided to dispense with the lid hook altogether and just put the lid ... Had it not been for this one issue, this review would definitely have been a '5'.
