We used this grill for the first time and it was second to none. The control you have with all the vents is simply amazing. We made duck breast and waygu burgers the first night (the best duck I've ever had mind you) and not one flare up. Because you can choke out the fire when you're done grilling, we only had to add about 10 pieces of charcoal the next night and we grilled brats. Again we choked the fire and we were able to make bacon the next day without adding any charcoal...again NO flare ups! Unheard-of!!! We had the bottom vents at half and upper vents at half to 3/4 open. Very easy to use. highly recommend this grill.

I love this grill. I cooked on it for just the first time, because our men’s group had a cookout in our neighborhood and I wanted to grill some salmon. There were several kinds of meats but I chose to do a delicious salmon and people raved that it was one of the top two favorite meats because it was so moist and flavorful. I read the manual very carefully and that was so helpful. The key was its portability, and it was a perfect size to cook two side-by-side pieces of salmon and to wait for the charcoal to pre heat the grill. Don’t rush. And I even impressed myself as when 20 people are standing around you watching you cook and you have never cooked on it before and it tastes that good, you have to give a nod to the grill. Superb build quality, very sturdy. Unfortunately, the grill height cannot be adjusted. One bag of Home Instant Lighting Charcoal from Argos managed to bend quite noticeably the lower grill (the one that holds the charcoal). But this is not a real problem. The problem is the amount of heat/energy you need to lose by letting the charcoal burn, till you can actually grill some meat without burning it. I don't know what is it; the charcoal, this bbq or both, but the coal will burn in this thing for more than an hour. Even after 45-50 minutes, you can still cook things on this thing. The bottom line is this. Best is to start with the legumes because they don't drip. This way you can make use of the energy that otherwise would be lost.

We bought the Go-Anywhere to use camping and for day trips to the beach this spring. We have a gas travel BBQ but prefer the added flavour charcoal adds and enjoy the experience of cooking on a charcoal grill. The quality is what you expect from Weber but the design of this BBQ is really quite impressive! You just install the handle covers, legs and drop in the grates and it’s ready to go.The lid has ingenious hooks on it so the lid hangs on the sides when checking your food, and doubles as a wind screen - a very useful feature! The next thing is the legs. Once opened and clipped together, they are sturdy and provide good clearance to the table. Unclip the steel legs and they to fold up and over the lid, locking the BBQ securely together for transportation. It’s another very useful feature! The rectangular design is easy to pack. The vents on any charcoal grill are extremely important for the use of the grill for temperature control and different cooking. On the lid, there are two vents, one on each side. On the firebox, there are two sliding vents that run the long length of the grill, one on each side. These are a great design feature. They can be opened/closed at either end for amazing versatility. It allows you to grill and even quick smoke with this “portable” BBQ! We did smokey bbq pork back ribs camping a few weeks ago, which was really impressive with this grill!First few cooks, we lit the charcoal without a chimney while camping - all natural only. While it works okay just as it does with the larger kettle bbqs, it takes more time. Weber makes a compact size chimney we bought last month that really speeds up the charcoal prep time that I’d highly recommend using it if time is short.I’m usually pretty quick to find a fault but this BBQ checks all the boxes for us - quality and design at a reasonable price. Upon using it, it is the perfect portable BBQ for camping and day trips. If you are new or pro at charcoal grilling, this a great travel grill. The learning curve will be quick for the new charcoaler as there isn’t too much to manage on a simple design, but with the features a seasoned charcoal griller will make great use of too!

Nice compact design, but very poor grill in use

I bought in 2018 the go anywhere gas, to replace an old q100 on campingtrips. The go anywhere takes up mutch less space in the trunk, which is perfect. I only used it on a three week trip in 2018, and it was put on a shelf afterwards, and the old q100 has been the go-to grill again since that. The go anywhere has one major design fault, and a few other problems. The grillplate heats up extremly uneven. It has two very hot strips, and three cooler strips. This makes it difficult to use the grill, since the food has a high tendency to get burned on the hottest areas. As other people indicate, the pan is difficult to clean, especially along the hot areas where the food often gets burned. Grease drips out of the bottom holes if not carefull. I am again looking for another more compact gas grill to replace the q100, but the weber product range unfortunately has nothing relevant.

Not a great grill grate

I give customer service 5 stars , they are excellent via email and online chat. I have not spoken in person to them but I am sure it would be 5 stars as well. I had some problems with parts and Weber replaced with warranty without delay. My problem is with the grill. I grilled chicken and it was such a hassle to clean the grate as juices and fat seems to immediately burn into the grate. All the features are great but I really don't like the grill grate. I have used it only once and I had to soak the grate for 2 days in soapy water after it's only use. I am not sure I want to deal with the clean up. I got this for camping , I would starve if I have to soak it 2 days to get it clean to use it again. That was like losing a best friend! So far my new little buddy is not working out for me. I was looking for a replacement grate but they are about as expensive as the grill itself. $80 is a lot of money for a grill I won't likely use again . I sure did expect more from Weber, my excitement for this grill faded away on first use.

I have been buying the gas go anywhere grill since the early 90's. Probally have bought 8 or 9 since then from wearing them out. The new one is only 6 months old and is the worst grill I have ever owned. Flame won't stay lit and now it won't light at all. I'm sure I will not be able to find my receipt so this was a waste of money. Tank is full. Tried to reset it and clean the tube out but nothing. The regulator will not let any gas through it now. At first I could lightly tap on regulator and get the thing to light but not any longer. A new regulator is half the price of the grill. Unless they change styles I'm not buying another one. All the others I have owned were awesome. This new one isn't worth having the weber name

I used this grill once to cook Italian sausage and this thing burned the crap out of the sausages. For context I was cooking on the lowest possible setting, to the point that the gas would go out. Not only that there are multiple dead zones on the grate, and I found the only way to cook through the sausages was to put them at the very edge of the grill where the lid would sit. There’s also a few quality of life things that I don’t like about this grill. The grate is impossible to clean because it scorched everything and there’s no easy way to get the grease out of the bottom. I’ll keep messing with the grill to see if I can make it better but I also heard the old style grates may have been better. Great little bbq, seems well made and easy to control. Compared to the previous cheap ones I've had it's a dream to use. Well worth paying a little extra for - it feels like it'll last for years. It's not only good for travelling, I use it at home when I'm cooking for the two of us. It needs much less charcoal than our big kettle so it'll probably pay for itself fairly quickly just with the fuel savings. There's not a huge amount of space between the grill and the lid but plenty for thick steaks, chicken pieces, and a small joint of meat will fit. It doesn't weigh much and it's very compact. If you put the tools and a ziplock bag full of charcoal inside it, you can carry everything you need in one little package.
