I had a basic gas grill that I bought at a retail store many years ago. It worked well, but definitely had hot spots, and eventually the thin metal rusted through, causing one of the burners to fall out of place.I decided to replace that grill with something of higher quality. Right out of the box, even before assembly, I could tell this Weber grill was like a luxury item compared to my last grill. Even the packages was very well done. The grill itself is sturdy, and the metal is much thicker, meaning it will hold up much longer. The thicker grates are much nicer than what I've had previously, and the ignitor works very well. So far with the few times I've used it, heating has been even throughout the grilling surface. It's a quality product and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

I grew up with a Weber charcoal grill that my father still uses to this very day. There's a reason why they're those most popular grills for charcoal and propane. You don't hear anyone bragging about its competition because they always wished they had bought a Weber.

I can't report the durability of the plastic wheels and stationary leg feet. Check other long-term reviews to see if they don't split like other brand grill wheels & feet. The Improvable: grates lack a front finger hole to lift grate for brushing grate bottoms, stick-on badge next to right burner knob and Spirit name plate both applied crooked that makes grill look cheap, propane tank holder fits most, but not all tanks. Reported reliability of the i-Grill 3 needs to improve before I buy one.Tips: regardless of what Weber says about no-stick techniques I've found the best practice that works every time for me is to use the Weber no-stick spray lube: preheat grill at the heat setting to be used for that food item: Example: burgers: preheat, medium heat to 450°, get everything ready for quick access, lift top, spray a little squirt right where one burger is going and put it immediately on, squirt next, quickly put next burger on, repeat, repeat, repeat, close top as quickly as possible not to lose too much heat. Then stainless steel brush the tops of grates right after taking off food - let cool, lift grates and brush the bottoms to dislodge hanging pieces. If there is a big crusty blob of burnt grease on a flavorizer bar I knock it mostly off with the brush then, but I don't scrape the rest unnecessarily. Voila, ready for next grilling with a nice, clean shiny, pre-seasoned grate.I hope that helps. This Weber heats pretty darn evenly front to back and side to side for me - unlike my last two grills, making it much easier to get a batch of burgers or steaks at the same doneness. I use Bluetooth meat thermometers always- but not the Weber brand until reviews of reliability improve. This and the crooked badges are the 5th star deletion. If I could have given 4 1/2 stars I would have, because everything else is excellent!

I finally bit the bullet and invested in a Weber Spirit gas barbecue. It replaced another manufacturer’s grill that had served us well for seven years. I couldn’t be happier with the upgrade. From the time I opened the carton and experienced how well everything was packed, I knew this was a different and higher level of quality. I’m an 80+year old guy, but I was able to assemble the unit basically by myself. It took me several hours, but the step by step directions were well illustrated and mostly easy to follow. A couple of times I had to get down on the deck and reach around to tighten a screw, so my cocktail that night was especially welcome! Firing up the grill and cooking on it are a dream. I bought a three burner unit to replace the four burner unit we had before and I’m delighted with it. Lots if cooking area and it heats up very quickly. Area heating is very consistent, which is one of the complaints I had with my other grill. I’ve only had the Spirit II for a few weeks so I’m still learning and experimenting, but I’m looking forward to a long, happy and delicious relationship.
Don’t BBQ in the dark. Our first gas BBQ after the electric Sunbeam gem.Getting used to the different sounds, as one can’t see what’s happening.iGrill 3 probe holders melted thanks to absence of visual instructions, but sausages were acceptable despite being ones sided thanks to forgetting to turn over once. That said they will brown due to heat when gas is off.Choosing whether to use hot plate is one of preference.Second use with chops was more confident, but ended up medium despite well done setting, possibly due to hot plate being left in on one side. That said, treating it as long term investment, and adding accessories.Getting the side burner model would have been preferable but no stock. And no, one can’t upgrade it.Apparently one might be able to ... MoreDon’t BBQ in the dark. And no, one can’t upgrade it.Apparently one might be able to switch to Natural Gas with an adapter. But with LPG, don’t let the bottle base sit on wheel axle, as you might think it’s half empty with gauge. The 2 rubber stoppers give the impression to lift it onto wheel axle.Short sighted design, unless you have a shorter fatter bottle.Screws are all mixed into same bag, and you might think you are short 2 washers. There are some spares, which are unlabelled.Could have been better experience setting up.But worth it in the end.Easy to wheel around if you need.It does radiate a lot of heat, so allow space around it.Off to buy accessories from Good Guys, and Weber agent, since range and stock limited with AO - variable pricing is also hit and miss here.Did claim 2 price drops, but agent smirked when processing it.Uncool.
Bought this grill from a local small hardware store after doing lots of online research. Assembly went smoothly, and the construction is pretty solid. The grill did have one bent leg, which may have occurred in shipping, but I was able to get it straightened out adequately after a few minutes. It's a good looking grill. Controls work smoothly, fit and finish are good, and the features are about what I'd expect for a grill at this price point. It starts up easily and heats to temp in about ten minutes. It'll max out the thermometer, at about 700 degrees. My only gripe about the grill is that it doesn't sear well. Actually, in the technical sense, not at all.The grill will get very hot, and it's great for cooking chicken, hot dogs, burgers... But it won't put even a slight char on a piece of meat.-Sure, you'll get darker grill marks, but that's because the grates get hot. But the rest of the meat doesn't get any char.Three different times now, I've cooked a nice pork tenderloin in a sous vide, and tried to finish it by searing on this grill. The grill just won't sear it. I COULD get it to char if I left the meat on there longer, but then it overcooks.-Additionally, when grilling corn on the cob, if you like some nice charred spots, forget it, unless you are willing to leave it on the grill for awhile, and don't mind the corn overcooked.I'm going to hazard a guess that the flames are just to far away from the grate to be able to sear, so you get more of a high-heat baking effect. When searing pork tenderloins on my charcoal Weber, where I can get the coals as close to the meat as I'd like, results are perfect.Bear in mind, I haven't tried doing a full cook on a steak yet, because starting off with the sous vide keeps the meat tender and juicy. This is probably a decent grill for cooking burgers, chicken or other things that require indirect heat, but it's not ideal for more direct heat applications.
This is the Best three burner little grill on the market today hands down. When the grill was delivered I had a couple of issues more than likely caused by the shipper. Giovanna H of Weber's Consumer Care Team took care of those issues immediately. I have nothing but confidence with this company. Weber is one of the best companies I have ever dealt with, and it was a pleasure working with them, and their team is second to none. Now to the grill; I'm retired and it takes a lot to impress me and this grill impresses me to the max. Every part on this grill is quality made, I actually had fun and enjoyed putting it together. The lid, firebox, stainless steel side tables, cast iron porcelain grates, grease management system, and the cart, wow it is very stout, not a wobbler, just complete quality, and one of the most important features to me it runs on natural gas, and I never have to fill another filthy propane tank ever again lol. I could have went and bought a $198 dollar cheapie and then have to toss it out after a couple of years no thanks, I made the right choice this little grill will outlast me. Do yourself a favor and buy a Weber. Make no mistake their grills are the best made.
Major issues with the gas regulator. The one supplied uses a cheap plastic retaining ring near the hose that if its put under any stress (even mild stress), it gives way and allows gas to escape out the side. I obtained a replacement from Weber, which I thought was great at the time (maybe i was sold a faulty one), but after installing the replacement and placing the tank back on its hanger, i could hear gas escaping again anytime the hose was not situated perfectly strait where it connects to the gas tank. Propane will escape just next to the black screw on connector that you use to tighten the regulator onto the propane tank. This really seems like one of the places where you might not want to cut corners as having a gas leak in any circumstance could cause a fire ... MoreMajor issues with the gas regulator. Propane will escape just next to the black screw on connector that you use to tighten the regulator onto the propane tank. This really seems like one of the places where you might not want to cut corners as having a gas leak in any circumstance could cause a fire / explosion. At this point it appears as though i will have to obtain a decent gas regulator from another source since the model supplied (made in China), leaks way to easily. After a search online, I see others have complained about this same issue. I can see a date on my replacement regulator (7/21) that may be its manufacture date. The grill works well for cooking, but can struggle to get to a suitable cooking temperature if the ambient outdoor temp falls below freezing, or has significant wind passing by. Also if you attempt to move it, and lift it by the tray opposite the wheels to roll it, the tray can detach from the size of the grill, as its not sturdily secured with the hardware provided. This grill can also blow over in the wind if you put a grill cover on it as the base is not heavy enough to hold it by itself (I now weight it down since that happend 1x and left a dent in the lid).
This is such an effortless, highly effective grill that has made my life easier! Compact in design with a small footprint, the actual cooking surface proves to be more than ample with a handy upper grill for food that needs a little more indirect cooking. The large circular knobs mimic the iconic Wolf ovens with their little chunks of cherry red strip. The propane gas tank has an intelligently placed hook that holds it in place on the side and also gives an indicator of how much gas is left. The grills are very nice and thick imparting excellent grill marks onto the food. I've used this several times and never fail to walk away with succulent, delicious tasting food for the family! I also decided to purchase the pricey grill cover that was made for this model, it is very easy to throw over (once completely cooled down of course) and has simple and effective velcro fasteners on the side to cinch in within seconds. Worth the price. After recently owning a now bankrupt company's electric/charcoal fusion BBQ, I am more than pleased with this Weber and will always come back to this brand.
We have always enjoyed using our Weber gas grill and also taken good care of it, performing all recommended maintenance, keeping it meticulously clean, not keeping it out in the elements and not abusing it.Unfortunately, we’ve had issues with the Electronic Ignition System—it was completely broken—the rubber covering on the button deteriorated and the button didn’t work anymore. We called the warranty department and requested a brand new igniter kit and, burner tube kit. As both of these items were completely broken as well. We believe that the failure of these parts were not due to neglect or error on our part. The Weber company covered in full the replacement of the ignition part.
