Excellent quality. My cats go crazy for it. They don't love pate and Weruva offers a ton of flavor options that look like real food. The chicken, fish, whatever is identifiable -- you know that you're feeding your cats quality products and it's totally worth it.

For the past 2-3 months, my 16 year old cat has been sampling various grain-free canned foods. He doesn't have to eat grain-free, but the vet hopes that it will help him to stay healthy as he has started to have some funky bloodwork. Thus far, he has loved many brands and flavors when he first tries them; but, as the 5.5oz can is 1/2 to 3/4 finished, he becomes less enthralled. In some cases, he loses interest by the 2nd or 3rd can of that flavor (I always mix it up, so there aren't two of the same brand/flavor in a row). BUT, Weruva's Nine Liver Canned Cat Food (as well as Weruva's Paw Lickin Chicken) never fails! He gobbles up the entire can and is equally excited about it with each new can.p.s. It's so fresh and natural that it actually looks and smells tasty ... MoreFor the past 2-3 months, my 16 year old cat has been sampling various grain-free canned foods. My nearly 15 yr. old cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes. After doing some research on better foods for diabetic cats, I found an article published by a vet. She had done extension testing on all brands of canned foods. (Dry kibble was excluded). Weruva Mack & Jack was among the several Weruva flavors listed that were 75% or more protein, 25% or so fat and 0% carbs, based on metabolic numbers. The plus is, Khas who is a dedicated kibble-eater, actually loves the Mack & Jack or anything with Mack and Sardines. Not big on chicken. It helps to regulate her glucose count because she will eat it all at once, which pairs well with her insulin shots.

This is a very good food for our cats. One of our cats had been on a prescription food for a long time and would have trouble with constipation. Since she has been on this food, her constipation is minimal to none. We even stopped her Miralax regiment. The food does have some larger chunks of liver and chicken in it, so I put it in the mini-chopper and give it just a couple of pulses. It is then in a better size for our cats. Our other cat goes in streaks with liking it and not. She is enjoying it right now, but still sometimes leave the bits of liver behind. There is a lot moisture in the food and when ground up a bit really creates a nice gravy.I would recommend this food, but be prepared to try grinding it to get them to eat it.
High-quality, real human-grade cat food. My cat especially loves the Nine Liver variety which has real shredded chicken meat, chunks of liver, and a good amount of gravy (which my cat must have in his wet food - he hates food that doesn't have enough moisture!)
I bought this for my 13-year-old cat with IBD and pancreatitis. At first he (and his sister) loved it. The last shipment I received he won't touch. Apparently there has been a slight change to the recipe (the removal of beef liver) and now neither of my cats want to eat it. The price also seems to have gone up. So now I will search to see if I can find anyone who has it with the beef liver. I had really hoped we had found a good quality food for them to eat for life, but it doesn't do me any good if they won't eat it due to the ingredients changing.
My finicky senior will only eat pate cat food, but she does love gravy. I use my food processor and turn this into a nice thick topping for her pate. The chicken pieces get finely minced and she can just lick them up. My girl gives it 4 paws up!
I am writing an additional comment to my earlier review of 6/27/2010. Not only is it VERY important not to crush or break the pills (if you do, you'll be wasting your money as they have a special coating so they will survive the stomach acids and reach the intestine where they will be absorbed), but you must also take B vitamins with it. WHY? I just found out that to avoid the possibility of conversion of SAMe into high levels of homocysteine (a substance which has been implicated as a contributing factor to heart disease, osteoarthritis and other degenerative conditions), you should also take it with a B complex. SAMe is well studied to help osteoarthritis, liver disease and depression amongst other degenerative disorders, BUT, (and both my regular vet and holistic ... MoreI am writing an additional comment to my earlier review of 6/27/2010. SAMe is well studied to help osteoarthritis, liver disease and depression amongst other degenerative disorders, BUT, (and both my regular vet and holistic one failed to tell me this), it must be taken with the B vitamins to prevent the opposite effect of what you are hoping to achieve. I would advise anyone to seek a vet's advice on correct B vitamin dosing to coincide with SAMe supplementation. The amounts I have found are for human dosing. They recommend B6 (50 mg), B12 (1,000 mcg) and Folic acid (800 mcg). This is apparently the optimum dosage to offset homocysteine elevation, but again, these dosages may not be appropriate for animals, so please consult your own vet. So, to conclude, don't crush or break, take with B vitamins and you will be aiding your pet's life. (These pills are too big for cats to swallow whole).
My cat loves this food. He won't touch Hill's or Royal Canin after making the switch to Weruva. Liver has always been a favorite for him, so now it's nice to have an option for him to finish before it's time for dinner without any food going to waste.
I have two cats, one who will eat anything and everything, the other is much pickier. The picky eater licked a bit of the gravy then walked away from this, though she did like a different Weruva flavor. Glad I only bought one can of the liver. The good think about Petco is the variety - lots of choices to try until I find something both cats will like.
