My nearly 15 yr. old cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes. After doing some research on better foods for diabetic cats, I found an article published by a vet. She had done extension testing on all brands of canned foods. (Dry kibble was excluded). Weruva Mack & Jack was among the several Weruva flavors listed that were 75% or more protein, 25% or so fat and 0% carbs, based on metabolic numbers. The plus is, Khas who is a dedicated kibble-eater, actually loves the Mack & Jack or anything with Mack and Sardines. Not big on chicken. It helps to regulate her glucose count because she will eat it all at once, which pairs well with her insulin shots.

I have bought three Weruva products, the Mideast Feast, Mack & Jack, and Polynesian BBQ. The thing I loved about all of them is that they all have so much fish in them. I wrote a review for the Mideast Feast so you can check that one out if you are interested.The Polynesian BBQ and Mack & Jack both have large amounts of gelatin covering the outer layer of the food. What I mean by that is, once you open the can you will see a thick layer of gelatin, when you scoop out the food you will see a THIN layer of gelatin on the outside where the food was touching the can.Even though you can scrape it off I didn't like that it was there at all. It also wouldn't liquify when I heated it up in the microwave so I wasn't comfortable letting my cats eat something that stayed ... My little fella only likes the best! And he loves his mack & Jack can cat food... I love that it is grain free and a healthier choice for him ! Mack & Jack is his special treat & his daily feeding is Weruva Grandma’s Chicken Soup. He loves that too ! He has had stones in the past & now has a moist diet only. My cats ate this for years until Weruva changed the recipe. Now, the older cat won't touch it, and the younger cat barely touches it. Might give it a lick or two, but that's it. I appreciate the fact that they removed a bad ingredient, but it doesn't help if the cats won't touch it. It definitely doesn't resemble human grade food anymore. It is just dark mush that is very unappealing. I won't be ordering this anymore. I've had to hunt for other foods they will actually eat.
We have a Snowshoe, Logan, who is allergic to chicken. It is nearly impossible to find wet food that does not have chicken! Our Tuxedo, Ziva Da'vid, is borderline diabetic and has to have a high protein /low carb diet. The mack and jack works for both issues and they like it ... which is the most important factor. Another thing is that it doesn't have carageenan which is a known carcinogen that many cat food manufacturers have begun to add again ... even some of the most reputable and expensive! So, paws up to the mack and jack!
My furkid Adrian LOVES any variety of Weruva grain-free canned cat food as long as it doesn't contain any fish (he's an oddball, I know)! We recently lost a cat to kidney disease. This was an eye-opening experience. Since Adrian is getting up there in years, it's critical I supply him with human quality food as low as possible in phosphorus. Compared to many other good quality foods, Weruva seems to fit the best for my little guy. The Paw Lickin' Chicken looks yummy, as if you took a chick breast and shredded it and added gravy. He truly loves this food!
I have two large dogs (94# and 67#) who are very active and love chewy snacks. After a busy active morning, they get a well deserved treat, and these buffalo knots fit the bill. They are very smelly, but I won't list that as a ""con"" because that's what makes them even yummier. They don't last long, but I have yet to find a chew that does. (My boys don't like antlers). This is a healthy, gum and teeth cleaning snack. Yes, it's expensive, but my boys are worth it. What irks me however: the four-unit bag can contain either very small or rather large units. And yet the price is the same - totally unacceptable/
