While I would personally opt for a quicker M.2 drive for my main system drive, the SA510 does make for a great option for an inexpensive storage expansion for your system or even as an external hard drive if used in combination with a 6GB capable drive enclosure. The value for money is evident, making it a suitable option for those seeking an option that won't break the bank. While it may not cater to users requiring top-tier performance or premium build quality, the WD Blue SA510 250GB SSD remains a dependable mid-tier option for everyday computing and storage needs.

I bought 2 of these to set up a mirrored pair for my precious data. BOTH died completely about 5 months later within about an hour of each other. Mirroring doesn't help if both disks die!I couldn't believe that the two disks would fail at the same time, so I did a lot of mobo/power/etc testing, but yes it was the disks.Fortunately I also had a good offline backup (paranoia pays off :)) so after I got some Samsung replacements I got it all back, but it could have been a proper disaster. The disks have gone back now (thanks OC for the good service as usual!) but if WD replace them instead of refunding me I'm going to use them as scratch disks or something. I purchased this SSD in July of last year, and initially, it worked fine. However, my experience turned into a nightmare as the drive died about three weeks ago. Upon further investigation, it's clear that this is not an isolated incident. Many other users have faced similar problems, and it's evident that there's an unacceptably high failure rate for this particular drive. The manufacturer's response to these issues has been nothing short of infuriating. As you can see from other reviewers that have received the same canned response about their supposedly strict quality standards. It is evident that these standards are not being met, and their copy-and-paste responses do little to reassure customers that they take these complaints seriously or have any intention ... It is evident that these standards are not being met, and their copy-and-paste responses do little to reassure customers that they take these complaints seriously or have any intention of improving their product.I'm writing this review to express my profound disappointment with this SSD. It's not just about the loss of my data; it's about preventing others from enduring the same ordeal. I cannot emphasize enough that you should steer clear of this product. It's simply not worth the risk of losing your valuable data. Look elsewhere for a reliable and trustworthy SSD, as this one has proven to be anything but.
I am using this SSD drive as an image drive for my laptop. I put the new SSD drive into external enclosure. In the beginning I wasn't able to read the drive. Turn out my enclosure was defective. I replaced the enclosure with new one (USB-C interface) and now it read just fine. Then I start an imaging process from my current drive. It went pretty fast at transfer rate about 1gb per sec. I measured the read/write speed using AS SSD benchmark tool. It measure sequential read/write speed at 417mbps/332mbps, slightly lower than the advertised read speed number at 560mbps.The read speed may be affected by the external enclosure controller performance and USB port limitation. I think i’m pretty much content with the performance. This SSD also comes with 5 years warranty ... MoreI am using this SSD drive as an image drive for my laptop. Recently, I had bought a new WD Blue 1 TB SATA SSD for my laptop Dell Inspiron 5570. From the 1s day only, I was getting frequent system hang up and then the Blue screen of death error( BSOD error). After that instead of restarting normally, it loaded to a white screen which showed hard drive not installed. This problem continued even after the replacement by the reseller, from where I had bought the drive.Though Support people were helpful but they offered another replacement and declined my request for a refund, stating it isn't their company policy. As my trust on WD Blue SATA SSD had been completely eroded, so had to bear the loss for selling the drive to the reseller. That's when I decided to switch to some other company for a new SSD which is working ... 40% failure rate, WOW! Purchased 10 of the 1TB WD Blue SA510 drives and 4 of them failed within 6 months. I've been working with computers and a wide assortment of technology for 20 years and I have never seen a failure rate so high on brand new devices. I don't even want a warranty replacement, I will not trust these devises with my data. Luckily, I run RAID and have external backups so my data was protected.
