Westinghouse 1.7L Kettle - Stainless Steel

This kettle works well. But buying from 'my deal' on line I am expecting to get a better deal than if I purchased in the shop. This was the same price as if I bought instore hence 3 stars. The kettle does not have a water level viewing window. To fill with water it is a 'lift the lid' - most of these kettles have a 'button' to press and lid opens. But it works well.

Average at best, ok for the price

Jug is ok. Takes ages to boil, does keep water relatively hot for a time though. No water indicator either. Very basic. Relatively sturdy construction. Spout leaks a bit. Get what you pay for.

Cheap but fantastic

Bought a few weeks ago. This jug is loud, and missing an external water level, but it boils water. The water level is marked on the inside of the jug. The lid is easy to open and the bottom of the jug is very flat, making it easy to clean. Highly recommend.

Clean and safe

I love this kettle because the interior is exactly what it says it is... Stainless Steel... and only stainless steel. ie there is no plastic window! I also love that the element is not exposed so I can see all of the interior, so not have to worry if there is any scale or anything hiding behind the element that I can't see. By far my favourite kettle. It has the most sleek, clean and safest interior of them all. Thanks Westinghouse. p.s I love your brand of fridges also.

Cool stuff

Super convinient to use. However, when the water boils its too noisy. But aesthetic wise, its nice wherever if you placed it on one corner of the kitchen

Perfect for any kitchen

Excellent kettle, super quiet and fast to boil. Stainless steel looks great and no plastic window so no chance of leaks. Water level markings on the inside if you really want a set amount of water. Purchasing online was so quick and easy, with very fast delivery.

Stainless but still horrible plastic smell

I purchased this kettle because I wanted stainless steel and no plastic smell. However, I am yet to make a cup of tea with it after pre boiling it some 20 plus times as there is a really strong smell of plastic! On closer inspection I have discovered that there is a little opening inside the kettle where the top of the handle is joined, and through that opening appears to be a channel of plastic pipe that I'm assuming runs down inside the whole handle. That is where the toxic smell is coming from, thus rendering the whole idea of a stainless steel kettle pointless. It's unfortunate because it would be a great kettle otherwise. Hoping to return for refund.

Water tastes strange

After buying this kettle I did three fill/boil/discard cycles with fresh water as per the instructions and then made a pot of tea with fresh water that tasted OK. A few hours later I made another pot of tea with fresh water but it tasted very strange. I tipped it down the sink and made another pot with fresh water which tasted very strange also. I retrieved my old kettle (which leaks water from the plastic water-level window) and made another pot with fresh water and it tasted fine, so it wasn't the water, it was this Westinghouse kettle that was the problem. It might have improved over time but it might not have (and how much more tea would I have to waste?), so I returned it. This is a great kettle. It looks stylish and boils really quietly. I prefer to steer away from plastic products and this is a terrific stainless steel kettle for a great price. It's also quick to boil, easy to fill and pour, and I love the blue light that comes on to show that it's boiling.

Very simple yet nice looking kettle. Stainless steel is clean and well put together. However, for the price, I feel that the base of the kettle (heating module) could be built a bit sturdier rather than a few basic plastic pieces put together with the connector held within.Overall a great kitchen appliance.
