Auto defrost would be preferable but in the end having a top opening door allows for the car space. Have used it for about 4 weeks and very impressed indeed. Super quick freezing which chest freezers are good for. We got stackable baskets from the big store beginning with a K. Brilliant fit which uniformly stack and create great access keeping items separate yet together. We have had chest freezers a while ago so needed to come up with workable solution to avoid the frustrating hunting problem. Also being senior now this solution is much better for our backs. I really enjoy having this new device in our home, it has certainly curved the pain of this looming recession in Australia. It is fantastic for when we purchase bulk meat products whereby we can divide many meals into smaller portions rather than waste valuable food it is also awesome for storing frozen veggies, another produce source that is also very overpriced at the moment. If you are considering purchasing a chest freezer, I do not think you can go wrong with purchasing this freezer, it is fantastic for us and we are saving quite a lot of cash (also eating a lot healthier).

We started marriage with a Westinghouse Fridge and a Westinghouse 145l freezer 41 years ago. The fridge broke but the freezer went on and on. We passed it on to our eldest daughter as her family expanded. The freezer went on and on.It was eventually disposed of when the refrigerant had to be legally changed. However, our two daughters have their Westinghouse box freezers on the back of our history. My wife and I bought our second freezer three weeks ago from The Good Guys, another Westinghouse. In the peak of Covid you could not find a freezer in any store. We're happy that even having to wait so long, we were able to get another "old reliable" Westinghouse 145l freezer.

I looked at several small freezers and selected the Westinghouse based on its overall efficiency rating and the price. It has a small footprint and is most suitable for a 1-2 person household. My existing fridge has a fairly small freezer, so the Westinghouse is suitable for my purpose, to go in my garage. At this stage, I have only had it for a few weeks, so cannot comment on its longer usage. One negative I perceive is that it is fairly deep to reach into making food at the bottom difficult to get to - a problem that will magnify as it fills up. But that is a trade against a reasonable size and small foot-print.
Easy to install with simple instructions. Great size for use by family of 4. As a chest freezer is by design , deep, the single top sliding basket is helpful but finding those long lost frozen donuts at the very bottom could be an issue. We went to a cheapie store and got some wire and plastic baskets. Black wire basket from K***T fitted perfectly at the bottom and a clear plastic one made a great addition to making it trouble free for those who don't have 2 metre long arms. Had for 3 weeks so far and has not missed a beat. Very quiet operation which indicates it is not continually start/stop good insulation, seals and high efficiency
I've only had this for a few weeks and am really happy with the freezer. It is the perfect size for a small space. It takes a lot of food and it was such a great price. Like all small chest freezers, it would be good if it came with two sliding baskets instead of one. Overall and only based on a short time of having this it seems to be a really good chest freezer. Thank you Good Guys Belconnen for such fantastic customer service.
We bought this so we could stock up without having to do frequent purchases. We are a household of two. However it could suit a family of at least 6 really well. I now use our everyday freezer for the use of what we need for the immediate future and the freezer for the longer term future. So there's a good rotation going on
We've had our freezer for almost 2 weeks now. Love it and the size is perfect for us as a couple. Naturally, and as expected, it freezes beautifully. As recommended, remember to have at least 100mm space around the freezer, so factor that in when buying. It is warm at the back and sides. It is a super quiet machine. Something we didn't consider is that it'll want defrosting each 6 months, so remember that too when buying. )
With the downsized family I figured I no longer needed a chest freezer. Over time it became apparent that with rising prices on everything a freezer would allow me to bulk buy and capitalize on specials. The little 145L freezer is a perfect size for a small family. The purchase price was reasonable and the power consumption minimal. It takes up very little space and is as quiet as a mouse.Westinghouse is not the top of the range as products go, but I currently have three, and all have been reliable, efficient and long lasting. I could have paid more for another brand, but I am very happy with this item. I will continue to buy Westinghouse products until they let me down.
Nice simple little chest freezer working a treat so far. Got down to minus 20 quicker that I expected. Now that we are in the colder months had to turn the thermostat down to 3 to keep at minus 20, and the mid point of 4 it was minus 23 - which is super cold - but munis 20 is enough. Quiet motor and the energy rating looks good, but have not had a power bill since adding this so will see later how much it adds overall. I put a thermometer in the freezer and it is certainly very stable at minus 20 so very happy that it is maintaining that baseline.
