At the price, and even well above it, these Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 stand mount speakers are going to be very, very hard to beat. Overview The Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 is probably destined to be the best seller in the range because of the stunning performance it offers for the price. Small enough to not dominate a room yet with fire power enough to fill medium size spaces, this is a prime candidate for top consideration. These are great speakers! Especially if you consider the more budget-friendly price. I'm using these as rears in my surround setup with the 12.4 towers and 12.c center channel. Can't go wrong with these. I love the Wharfedale sound. Highly recommend these if you like a more neutral speaker. And as always, fantastic customer service. Thank you Music Direct!

I bought these speakers as part of the surround package here: https://www.richersounds.com/wharfedale-diamond-12-1-x2-pairs-diamond-12-c-walnut-pearl-sw-10-black-wood.htmlI was thinking of buying Bowers & Wilkins, so went to Lichfield to compare them with the Wharfedales. B&W were nice speakers, but I preferred the Wharfedales as they were brighter, which I liked. Have had the speakers nearly two weeks, and have watched a number of films and listened to various albums. Whether it's music or movies, the sound is awesome, and the speakers work really well together. Quite bright, and not bass heavy, they provide a great experience. I am really pleased with these speakers overall and cannot recommend them highly enough!

Bought along with a Denon amplifier really pleased with them but if I had the money I might have tried the 12.2 Wharfedale speakers, nevertheless they are sturdy well built and for the money sound good as well. I bought the pearl walnut finish and I'm glad to say they make a pleasant change from all black. The front of the speaker is nice gloss black with the grille removed look amazing. The rear posts take banana plugs or simply put the speaker wire through the hole then tighten up on the speaker. I'm not bi wiring these speakers but the option is there for anyone who wishes to do so

Paid for these instore and they were delivered 24 hours later. Straight out of the box they sounded good, but now that they have been run in a bit, the sound is much richer, 'velvety' as my son said! Strong bass without being overpowering, they are a clear step up from my previous Wharfedale speakers. They have been put through their paces with various vinyl LPs, and whether it is the post-rock instrumentation of God is an Astronaut, the ethereal sound of 'Lullaby' by the Cure or the traditional Norse instruments and vocals of Wardruna, the presentation and soundstage is clear and inviting.Thoroughly recommended, and great service once again from Richer Sounds!
Delivered today and was impressed with the styling of them straight away. Well packaged as well . Wired them up the bi wiring method and at first listen they sound great. They need breaking in like any speakers but was impressed with the full sound from the get go . Bought them in-store after a good chat with very knowledgeable staff and discussion on alternative speakers. So glad I went for these though. Would definitely recommend.
Had these speakers delivered today. I only ordered them yesterday afternoon and DPD had delivered them by 9am today. That's what I call service, both from Richer Sounds and DPD. The speakers are brilliant and for such small cabinets they produce a fair amount of bass. They have replaced a pair of Q Acoustics 3030i which were great, but a little big and bassy for my living room. Brilliant service all round. Thank you Richer Sounds.
Bought Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 bookshelfspeakers after lots of internet reviews and anaudition in store. Lovely finish in walnut.Feel sturdy and well made.Nice to have magnetic grills.Paired with an old Arcam 7 amp & Marantz CD63cd player.Superb sound - with a nice solid tight bass &plenty of clarity. Absolutely magnificentfor jazz, soul, funk & reggae in a small room. I didfeel that you should pass on these if your mainlistening is rock. Very happy with these little beauties!!!rockMight need a sub in a larger room.
The first thing I would like to mention is the great service and advice from James at the Preston store, always friendly, quick to answer questions and offer advice, in person, over the phone and via email. This purchase was part of a package for my Denon AVC-X3800. The package is a 5.1 surround sound set up and is made up of a pair of the 12.3 floor speakers for the front channels, a 12.C for the central channel, a pair of 12.1 for the rear channels and a SW-10 subwoofer. I’ve been using the speakers for the last week and waited to submit this review so I had spent time with the products, which I have used every day. I needed to replace my Samsung Q series Soundbar and had concerns about moving away from a Dolby Atmos Soundbar with 22 speakers and upwards firing ... MoreThe first thing I would like to mention is the great service and advice from James at the Preston store, always friendly, quick to answer questions and offer advice, in person, over the phone and via email. I’ve been using the speakers for the last week and waited to submit this review so I had spent time with the products, which I have used every day. I needed to replace my Samsung Q series Soundbar and had concerns about moving away from a Dolby Atmos Soundbar with 22 speakers and upwards firing speakers as the sound bar fitted easily into the living room and sounded great (or so I thought). I was unsure how these six speakers could improve on the Soundbar when it came to gaming, watching TV and movies. Needless to say they are a game changer, the difference between the sound quality and space is night and day between these speakers and the Soundbar. The sound is cleaner, it does not feel like you’re being bombarded by sound all the time, as it did with the Soundbar, instead this set up sounds clean, precise and more involved. Going back to some of my favourite movies and games, ones that I have watched many times or spend hours playing, it is becomes clear that these speakers deliver sound that I’ve never heard before. I think the sound bar throws all the sounds at you all the time from so many angles that certain elements get drownned out. With this set up you don’t miss anything, the soundstage is nice and wide I don’t miss the upwards firing speakers at all (although I will include some at a later stage out of curiosity). Overall I cannot vault the speakers. They do take up a lot more room but the trade off is worth it. Put together with the Denon I can’t recommend these enough.
I Upgraded to Diamond 12 from Diamond 9, which were almost too good to be true for the money. So I expected big things from the 12s and they did not let me down. Was tied between these and the QAcoustics 3020 but upon listening, I'm glad I stayed loyal,The 12s lit up my room within moments of playing. This the most Ive ever spent on speakers but i don't regret it one single bit. (Compared to some, they are cheap but 250 quid is still a lot of money to me!) Took me a while to justify to the wife but even she says that the difference is astonishing. The scale is massive, even in my modest living room. Like jumping from a 19" screen to 50" is how I've described it to friends. Such a wide presence even placed just 3.5m apart. The hi-hats and reverb details are too real to deny. Thats really what compelled me to write this review.Build wise, like the diamond 9s, they are strikingly solid and beautify finished. The wood is smooth and so clean. I don't like grilles on, so no holes in the front really make a difference and makes them look up to date. The wife approves of the shiny styling too.
Haven't had a pair of wharfdales since 18yrs old. Denton's then Linton 2's and I was into the bass they produced in those days. My recent purchase of Diamond 12.1's came as a complete surprise. I went to listen to Dali Spektor and Q Acoustics. These things are entirely subjective, we all know. Q sounded cold, thin and undernourished compared to Dali which has greater presence and a more lively dynamic about them. Both parties had been used for demos previously. Tried the diamonds straight from the box. I was astonished. They immediately sounded better still with clear and stable stage imaging for both James Taylor "Hourglass" and Resphigi, Pines of Rome. Assistant John and I were both astonished. I'm taking a risk if I but these, I said. They might improve with some ... MoreHaven't had a pair of wharfdales since 18yrs old. How could I say no?I've had the 10 days. They are great and I'm feeding them direct from scource skipping pre-amp circuitry. Try them and be surprised.Great service a ever, very pleasing product.
