I wanted to try these for a long time, since they are candy (yum) without any nuts (accessible yum). I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of texture, since they are Japanese and therefore probably different from taffy (my closest guess). Indeed, they are different! I bought mine in the winter so maybe they aren't always, but they were quite firm, like a now and later. Still chewable, but more like gum than like a starburst, even though they do dissolve. It was a fun texture. This had a good strong strawberry flavor, but I didn't like it as much as other flavors. It was fine.

My 3 kids hands down prefer Hi Chew over Starbursts. Grew up with Starbursts and they're sentimental for me, so I'm on the fence about which I prefer. They're all delicious lol. Once in a while my kids pick these packages as a treat at the grocery store checkout, but normally we get the big bag from Costco. The grape ones I give 4 stars because my kids love them but I don't. I'd give the mango and strawberry each 5 stars because we all love them. And I'd give the green apple 3 stars because we don't mind them, but they're always the last ones to get eaten

I have an addiction to these things. I especially love mango, strawberry, and apple. There's just something about the chewiness of these things that you can't find in any other treat. They are perfection with chewiness. Way better than Starbursts, jelly beans, and other chewy gooey treats. I would say I like gummies equally as well. These are not the same texture of a gummy, so I shouldn't even include them in the equation.
Walking along the store aisle its hard to choose a candy, but with the pandemic and all it's even more difficult because I feel pressured to "hurry up" and pick one. When I spotted the Hi-Chews my eyes when right to the red strawberry package. Holding it in my hand at check out I knew I was in for a delight, It was bursting with flavor, it ever made me forget about the 10 page report that was due tomorrow for work. I almost even took off my mask. Time I got to the register, all I have to hand to the lady was the package, Hi=Chew Package. Hi-Chew its like cheerful mind control.
I just discovered these not long ago and I am OBSESSED! I’ve tried all the flavours but strawberry is definitely my favourite! They are a really nice chewy candy (not too chewy where it gets stuck in your teeth). The flavour is not too ‘fake’ or overpowering! Some can be too synthetic tasting and give you guy rot! I can eat the whole pack of these, they are so good! Definitely try the strawberry ones first, they are the best flavours!
One of my favorite candies, especially when I have dry mouth. If you haven't had them before, they are like a cross between taffy and gum; you chew it like gum and it slowly dissolves more and more over the span of about 30-45 seconds (depending on how quickly you chew it), all the while bursting strawberry flavors in your mouth that are extremely juicy. In fact, it is probably the juiciest candy I've ever encountered. I highly recommend this product if you like strawberry flavored candy--or even strawberries in general, and it is a must-have for those who like juicy strawberry favors at ll💖
Growing up in Hawaii Hi-Chew has been a part of my diet for longer than I can remember. Kids would bring this to school all of the time and teachers would even include this in a little gift bag sometimes. These are a great treat to carry in your purse! Even as an adult I enjoy them just as much as I did as a kid!
Nose: Sweet orange peel and Dr. Pepper!?!?Palate: Very sweet and quite full bodied, almost like syrup. The mix of sweetness and oak spice somehow reminds me of cough drop..?? As the mild heat passes, some honey with very weak char appears.Finish: The sweetness extends. As it slowly fades away, apple zest starts to show up and lingers. Warm.Comment: I couldn't sense too much honey in it, which is quite puzzling for me. It is as sweet as honey, indeed, but kind of artificial for me. Even with flavored liquor standard, it really underperforms than what I expected. A bit disappointing, to be honest.

I decided to get a miniature, figuring $1.99 wasn't a lot, and if I didn't like it, I'd had enough of a sampling to help me make up my mind. Having tried it, I can't wait to order a larger bottle! I was pleasantly surprised as I'm wary of these concoctions such as the Fireball whiskey with these extra ingredients which might be detrimental to the base whiskey or bourbon. The rich bourbon taste is present; the fragrance is pleasant and not sickening like cheap candy; the smooth hint of honey and caramel is not cloying or overwhelming. It all comes together in a pleasing and surprising way. I drank mine neat, but look forward to trying it in other suggested ways for variety. I'm hooked and now can't wait to include the Wild Turkey brand among my favorite bourbons.
