Wild Turkey Bourbon Kentucky Straight Rare Breed Whiskey 700 ml

Wild Turkey Rare Breed Bourbon Whiskey is a premium bourbon that is made using a blend of 6, 8, and 12-year-old whiskies. It's a high proof whiskey, bottled at barrel proof, which means that it has not been diluted with water before bottling. This results in a full-bodied, rich and flavorful whiskey with a high alcohol content that can vary from batch to batch. The whiskey is known for its complexity, with a combination of sweet and spicy notes that are balanced with hints of oak and vanilla. It has a long finish that lingers on the palate and is smooth despite its high proof. Additionally, Wild Turkey is a well-respected bourbon brand that has been producing high-quality whiskey for over 70 years. 101 on some serious steroids!

When my WT 101 ran out, I purchased this on a recommendation. The 101 is inferior than Rare Breed, which ought to cost twice as much. The cost is justified. Although it doesn't burn, this has a pleasant bite that you would expect from a barrel proof. It has pleasant spiciness and a nutty undertone, and I could taste the barrel in the finish. Will it be a favorite of yours? That is arbitrary. Is it appropriate for your bourbon shelf? Yes! You won't be dissatisfied.

A new favorite

My first Wild Turkey and I need to say that I was pleasantly surprised with this bourbon. Needles to say that you can't go wrong with a barrel proof bourbon. The Kentucky Hug given by this 114 proof whiskey is kind and pleasant, drinks more like a 100 proof. The nose is floral with hints of honey. The mouth is sweet and an almond aftertaste finishes the experience.Points of comparison: Old Forrester 1920, Penelope Cask Strenght and Noah's Mill - all in the 115 proof.

Best bang for the buck

So I am a fan of Wild Turkey products. 101 is my goto bourbon both for its price point and its flavor profile. If you like 101 and other WT products, you can't go wrong buying a bottle of Rare Breed. The vanilla and spice (I taste it as cinnamon) of 101 are strong in this version, but with the added smoothness of extra aging. You will not notice the higher ABV of Rare Breed as you might in other "stronger" release of your favorite bourbon. The ease with which this 116+ proof whiskey goes down is not to be underestimated. You may not think you're drinking the strong stuff, but don't stand up too quickly after a few pours. As mentioned in the title of this review, I've had better, but those bourbons were $100+ (bookers 2020-03, blantons, Old Rip) and as such, I find ... MoreSo I am a fan of Wild Turkey products. 101 is my goto bourbon both for its price point and its flavor profile. The only other bottle I consider comprable both in quality and price, is the Russel's Reserve Single Barrel Reserve, which is also a WT product. The advantage of the Rare Breed is the consistency. Being a blended bourbon, each bottle of Rare Breed is gonna taste darn near spot on to the last bottle. I have found that bottles of Russel's Single Barrel can be very hit and miss because of the lack of blending.

Cheapest price per dollar

Consequently, I like Wild Turkey goods. I always reach for 101 bourbon because of its pricing and flavor characteristics. A bottle of Rare Breed is a great choice if you enjoy 101 and other WT products. This version still has a lot of the vanilla and spice (which I taste as cinnamon) from 101, but it also has more smoothness from additional aging. As opposed to other "stronger" releases of your preferred bourbon, the greater ABV of Rare Breed won't be noticeable to you. It's important to recognize how easily this 116+ proof whiskey goes down. The Russel's Reserve Single Barrel Reserve, another WT product, is the only other bottle I think compares in terms of both quality and cost. The consistency of the Rare Breed is a benefit. Due to the fact that Rare Breed is a blended bourbon, every bottle will taste almost identical to the previous. Because there isn't much blending, I've discovered that bottles of Russell's Single Barrel may be very hit or miss.

SUCCESS IN EVERY TASTE TEST

The top of the list is Rare Breed. Over the past few years, three of my friends and I have developed a taste for bourbon. We meet together three to four times a month and have conducted numerous taste tests. Even blind taste tests were conducted on some. We have tested every so-called "high end" bourbon, as well as popular brands like Kirkland from Costco. We find it incredible that "Rare Breed" consistently wins, especially given that it is 108 proof. Jimmy Russell and the entire staff at the Wild Turkey Distillery deserve praise for creating such a quality bourbon.

Sublime Whiskey

I've only been exploring bourbon in earnest for a year or so but have so far tried 15-20 that I consider more than just decent...my regular go-to's are Woodford Reserve and Wild Turkey 101 but I've also ventured into the select versions of Elijah Craig, Four Roses, Michter's, Jack Daniel's, 1792, Makers Mark, Buffalo Trace and others. Of all those this is the best booze I've yet tasted, without a doubt. At 117 proof it goes down as easily as a good 86 proof bourbon, and is much tastier with no alcohol burn. Higher proof whiskeys, I've learned, are more interesting and complex than the more so-called "drinkable" 80-90 proofs. If you enjoy WT 81 and 101--or if you just enjoy great bourbon period--you owe it to yourself to try Rare Breed--it's the closest to a sublime ... MoreI've only been exploring bourbon in earnest for a year or so but have so far tried 15-20 that I consider more than just decent...my regular go-to's are Woodford Reserve and Wild Turkey 101 but I've also ventured into the select versions of Elijah Craig, Four Roses, Michter's, Jack Daniel's, 1792, Makers Mark, Buffalo Trace and others. At $65 including tax for 750ml I can't afford to drink it every day but for me it's now the gold standard for all other comparisons. Try it, you'll like it.

The Undisputed Peoples Champiom

Wild Turkey’s Rare Breed is the LB for LB UNDISPUTED BOURBON’S CHAMPION of the WORLD. Hence, packing a punch well above its weight class. On the palate--Vanilla, Caramel Viscous sweet profile. At the same time, this is a BARREL PROOF product. The only flaw is that the product is Chilled-filtered. Do not pay for the label or marketing. This is the. Best valued bourbon on the nm market to date..

Turbo Powered 101

Rare Breed is a high proof flavor bomb. From nose to finish you know you are drinking Wild Turkey. However, in addition to the standard vanilla, caramel, peanut, and spice, you get a huge uptick in a creamy & viscose mouthfeel. I also got a delicious “Dr. Pepper” kick with some dried fruit as well. The very best part is the finish. It just lasts forever. The spice kicks in along with cocoa, oak, a little tobacco, and just enough heat to remind you of the 56.4% ABV, but not in any way harsh. Rare Breed is a very nice sipping whiskey for sure.Is it worth $50? Is it worth almost twice the cost of 101? Yes, it is. I wouldn’t say it’s twice as good as 101. That said, it is just as good as other barrel proof products on the market that are substantially more expensive ... MoreRare Breed is a high proof flavor bomb. If I could spare the extra dough, I would not hesitate to pick up the Rare Breed.

Well worth the money!

Despite only having a few months' worth of bourbon experience, I really liked this particular whiskey. The flavor was sophisticated and mouthwatering. It was the ideal combination of sweetness, spice, and woody flavors in my opinion. At 116.8, it had just enough heat to wake you up, but it wasn't overly hot, and it went down very easily. I'll make an effort to keep this on hand at all times and suggest it to anyone just starting out with bourbon who wants to start with a little palate exploration.
