Introducing the Blade 98 16x19 v8! For this version Wilson adds some speed and stability while keeping the sublime feel and spin-friendly targeting of the previous generation. At 11.3 strung and boasting a speedy 320-RDC swingweight, this racquet is ideal for intermediate and advanced players, especially if they crave maneuverability. This stick also packs a buttery 61-RA stiffness, giving it outstanding ball feedback. For 2021 Wilson keeps the revolutionary layup technology that was originally used in the Blade v7 under the name FeelFlex. It’s now called FortyFive and, in addition to increasing stability, it helps the racquet bend in ways that compliment the modern game. For this update, Wilson also introduces Direct Connect Technology which fuses the butt cap directly to the carbon fiber portion of the handle for added stability. Additional updates include Wilson’s new Chameleon Paint which activates subtle color changes under different angles and light conditions.

I bought this 2 months ago as a bday present to myself. First of the 18x20 pattern helped put balls deeper into the court with less effort than the 16x19 string pattern, that said it does produce less spin. When I’m playing matches and I’m having trouble producing deeper balls I switch to this racquet. Cosmetic wise it’s beautiful and Roland Garros is my fav. Slam so it’s so fun to use it. This racquet looks better in person. (Here from PlayYourCourt)

Been using the Yonex vcore, which i love, but wanted something with similar specs, more stability, and more of an "all court" racquet. The Blade proved to be this and some. I feel very confident with this in hand and the biggest improvement was the maneuverability and ease when it came to my serve. Didn't expect that at all and would buy again. Strung it up with Luxilon Alu Power Rough strings at 50 lbs.

I got two of the Wilson Blades not too long ago and at first I was very pleased thus why I bought two. The feel was amazing and I loved the easy power it generated. I felt like it lacked a little on the spin side but that's just me. I had both racquets strung at 46 lbs. I was in the middle of a match and one of the grommet eyelets snapped off. I was surprised. I am not an aggressive player that hits with a lot of power and it just snapped off. After it snapped, it started to eat away at my strings so I had to switch racquets. Also, I feel a noticeable difference between my two racquets. One of mine feels very head heavy and the other feels very balanced. I was very disappointed with Wilson with inconsistent quality and feel.

I have four blades - two V8 and two V6. It is an extremely versatile and comfortable racket and the V8 delivers exceptional control, feel and access to spin. I hit a one-handed backhand and am a generally a baseline grinder with spin on both wings, and I love this racket for my style and have never had arm issues (I string with normal tension polys). The increased weight on the v8 compared to older blades allows you to absorb more power. If you prefer more of a power racket or are a flatter hitter, this may not be a racket for you. Otherwise, it's going to do nearly everything you want from it.
I have been using the Blade line for a few years now. This is my second V8 which I bought as a backup. That's how much I love this racquet. I have to admit, at first its was a little bit of an adjustment for me on the serve, it seemed heavy to do a full speed swing. But now that I have gotten used to it, I absolutely love it. It has plenty of power, so your opponent does not blow the racquet out of your hands but also has plenty of control. It is by no means a "spinny" racquet but it has just enough to keep the ball inside the lines when you hit it hard. I would recommend this racquet to any medium to advance level player to take your game to the next level.
i recently bought this racquet and I'm so damn surprised by it. Afer doing a tonne of research and watching a lot of reviews I decided to go for this one.Have tried nearly 6 different raquets in the past year i.e babolat pure aero 2023, wilson prostaff 97L v14, yonex ezone 98 sky blue, wilson clash v2 (enjoyed pure aero the most out of the lot). coming back to the point, played with the blade yesterday and I'm blown away by the amount of spin and power i could generate(contrary to reviews) and the amount of control i felt. And the feel is plush plus its easy on the arm. i strung my racquet with solinco confidential 17g at 50lbs. Highly recommend this one. Thanks tennishub !
I purchased this racquet about a month ago and was a little surprised as to how it played. I was used to a little bit of a stiffer older version, this one has more flex to it. After playing with it for a couple weeks, I've adjusted well and love the feel that the racquet has. It's definitely great for control and have to generate your own pace. I played with luxilon alu rough and love the way it plays.
This racket has pretty decent pop considering they made this blade so much head lighter than previous versions. In the next version I’d like to see a bit more head weight and a slightly higher stiffness rating more similar to the blades of old. A lot of advanced players I know have switched rackets because it’s too squishy now. Wilson, don’t try to make an advanced players racket suitable for low level players.
Excellent racquet no matter what color you buy!!!!I strung the noir version of my racquet just a touch higher than my other blade just for the sake of having one on the higher end of the recommended tension which i believe is between. I find that my power is fine so I really need more control and more top spon so i am enjoying the way my noir's current tension of 57 lbs feels (the more tension the more control and spin, they say afterall).. no matter what the colour may be of your Blade v.8 enjoy hitting woth it - I certainly fo! Two big thumbs up here! The Wilson Blade v.8 truly is the best racquet out there if you learned with a Wilson of some sort like i did. Two big thumbs up here! The Wilson Blade v.8 truly is the best racquet out there if you learned with a Wilson of some sort like i did. If you're shifting racquet companies by considering buying a Blade over say your Babolat or Head gear., that's great. It just may yake a few weeks -- or longer, before one is totally used to it. PS it took six weeks to get my regular version of rhe green Blade v.8 but tennis express had to me in three days - STRUNG!! So if you buy directly from wilson sporting goods, I'd recommend you buy it unstrung and just have that done here once it's in your hands. I made the mistake of ordering strings as well which tacked on 4 weeks to my wait for my first green Blade v.8! So just a head's up!! Importantly, it plays a bit stiff but is also strangely more flexible than previous Wilson frames. It's got pop and more spin can be accessed with rhis racquet versus my last Babolat.
Highly recommend this racket, it feels lighter than your average 300gm - 325gm rackets, since swingweight and striffness is on the lower end. Full range of motion can be achieved without the blade feeling underpowered. It is a solid racket known for its “feel” and power and spin easily generated through 16x19 open string pattern. Technically if you are sound, this should make you feel to hit precise shots easily… Earlier used the babolat pure aero and switched recently.. that racket is lighter but seems heavier when swinging and messed up my technique. Go for it and buy it ,, don’t be scared of the weight , it does feel lighter when swinging and is a stable rally racket with awesome feel and control
