I bought my first Wilson football over a year ago. Since then it has been madness. I am on the fourth football that I have returned and received again. The consistent problem is the seams. If possible, find a place that carries these, and feel/grip different ones to determine how well the shape of the ball interfaces with your hand/grip. Every ball is shaped a little different.Also, be careful whose instructions you follow when breaking in your leather football. Many videos swear by using shaving cream to remove the pinkish “dye” from the football, along with using a wet rag to remove the “dye”. While other people may swear by this, I have tried it on a leather GST, and it did more harm than good imo. Keep in mind that equipment managers for NFL & big time CFB, only care about prepping the ball for that one game. As you can see in picture, ball is inflated to ~13 PSI (NFL requires all game balls to be between 12.5-13.5 PSI). Ordered a Wilson tack bar and brush. Very pleased!

I bought "The Duke" NFL football back in January 2022, and without hardly any use, the product deflated and would not hold air. I contacted Wilson and they quickly investigated the situation and would send me the same football to replace my defective one. I am very pleased with the experience I had with Wilson customer service. The only reason why I am not giving my overall rating five stars is because although Wilson sent me a new football, the football they had sent me was not brand new and you could tell it must have been a returned product or something that had been on a store shelf for a while because it had some minor wear/tear. Overall I am pleased to have received a football. Thanks Wilson!

My 10 year old son wanted this football so bad that I splurged and bought it for him for Christmas 2022. He hasn’t set it down since! I thought it would likely be too large for him to grip but to both our surprise it groups really well after brushing and he has no problem throwing or catching it. It’s been allot of fun playing catch with on these long winter months and will be even more fun as the weather warms and we can play outside!
Each model of Wilson footballs that I have purchased has gone flat within a year’s time. It is unfortunate that despite the high price point these balls are selling for; they do not hold their quality through multiple years of normal usage. The footballs I purchased were not abused; in fact I even bought the Wilson prep kit which I used on each ball. I feel I deserve at least one replacement for the three that I own. I spent nearly $300 for this set, and now they won’t hold air for longer than 30 minutes. I was a fan of the balls prior to purchasing them given they are used on the highest level, but unfortunately their performance did not meet my expectations. I hope to hear from a customer service representative to resolve the issue.
Haven’t had a football in over 10 years and bought a $40 ball and the ball I happen to get is defective. The rubber air valve is protruding very far and will push into your hand as you try to throw the ball. Very uncomfortable. This is unacceptable and unbelievable that after all this time @Wilson can’t get it right. Plus why would you put the rubber air valve on either of the top panels near the laces and not on either bottom panel? And why can’t valve be invisible under the leather as w/ soccer and basket balls ? Very poor design and no research and development at all? Seems can be easily fixed if you move valve to bottom panel and make it more incorporated in the surface of the ball so you never feel or notice it. Time for new placement of valve

As you can see from the pictures the replica is slightly smaller, yet heavier. The replica has a softer, more forgiving feel to the ball and its laces. “The Duke” has a harder, lighter feel and cuts through the air easier. Ironically, “The Duke” is easier to grip and throw compared to the replica, at least for me personally. I think it is because the leather has a better tack feel with thinner laces, which allows my fingertips to grip the ball better. Overall, “The Duke” is unmatched, but the replica is a great alternative for its value. The only glaring complaint so far is that to make it more like the true real thing, you Have to go through numerous additional steps such as conditioner, tack spray, tack brush, mud, etc.... I'm totally fine with doing all the steps, it's just the fact that they don't really disclose that upfront and more importantly buying all that stuff costs a lot of extra money!! I mean come on, this ball comes at a Premium price -- the basics should either be included with the purchase, or offered at a very good discount, or it should come more ready to go out of the box, or something! Without all that additional stuff, you're really only getting Half of what you need (which yes I did ultimately buy). First, I got a ball with a defective valve. I reached out to Wilson and they made it right and sent me another ball. It is amazing. A wonderful piece of craftsmanship. I love an American company with an American workforce that stands behind their products. I am mow a Wilson fan for life. Thank you!

I bought all the wilson care products and used it and the ball turned nice and dark brown and felt very tacky. The issue is you need to reapply the condictioner and tack spray every other use otherwise the ball starts feeling very dry and slick and is practically impossible to throw. I also noticed that the laces arent perfectly centered, my grip on the ball will have to change slightly depending which side I am holding, which is infuriating at times, especially when the ball becomes slick.
