So far I have been using these inks similar to watercolor paints. My favorite thing right now is to put lots of water on my canvas and then paint the inks on. They move and feather and blend and create fantastic free-flowing work. The colors do not muddy as they mix, but stay clear and vibrant. Love this line of product!

Still love this line of product, however I have learned that the inks are prone to fade in UV light exposure. So disappointing! Apparently they are made with dyes and not pigments. So for me the options are to make prints, keep the originals out of bright rooms, or to use these inks as a creative base layer and then paint over them following my designs with lightfast paints. If I understand correctly, calligraphy inks are made with pigments and have better stability. I will experiment with them next.

This is the best black ink in my opinion. It mixes with watercolor so beautifully. It granulates and creates just the most amazing textures. LOVE THIS!

I had used this product since I started creating my children's book illustration. These brilliance colors are amazing for reproduction. It is quite different than any other media. I had won international awards with the illustrations created with Winsor & Newton. I highly recommend them.
This black ink was acquired to dilute massively for weathering my plastic model builds where required.The effect can be so realistic of grime build up, exhaust and oil stains etc.
I've been using Windsor & Newton drawing inks for years on everything from cartoons and greeting cards to fine art drawings. I usually work in pen, ink and watercolor and these inks work well with the watercolors and sometimes result in some pretty happy accidents. I did an entire series of clowns for children's bedrooms (my grandchildren) and the colors are as sharp today as when I first made them nearly ten years ago, despite having been on display all that time. The colors are true and are light resistant, staying vibrant for years even when displayed in locations that would fade other inks. You do have to be careful and make sure brushes are really clean or the shellac will ruin them.
This appears to be the only product having this product's characteristics. It's made with lamp black but only the Indian drawing ink is made like that, with the dragon on the label. Creates interesting effects and is more like a watercolor. Not waterproof. The price is fairly high but a little goes a long way. I hope Winsor Newton continues to make this particular product.
These inks are easy to airbrush with to create special effects in my scale model building. I use the yellow, purple and blue inks to create heat discoloration on exhaust pipes.
I'll admit, when I got into traditional inking I went through a lot of really bad inks. Then I found Winsor & Newton inks and I fell in love. The colors are incredibly pigmented and have a lovely vibrancy and application to them. I recently bought some colored ones (began with the plain India ink black) and while they don't have the same thick, lasting consistency as black, their vibrancy and gorgeous fade between light and dark more than make up for it. If you're looking for good drawing inks, this is my go to.
