Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour has its own specially developed range of Oils, Mediums, Varnishes and Solvents so that all the techniques available to traditional oil painters can be achieved with Artisan. Linseed Water Mixable Oil is the most commonly used medium of all the Artisan Water Mixable Oil. Artisan Linseed Oil reduces the consistency and improves the flow of the paints while also increasing gloss and transparency. It can be combined with water or Artisan Thinner to maintain the structure of the paint film and can also be used when painting in layers to maintain the "fat over lean" rule (each successive layer must have more oil in it than the previous one). Artisan Oil Painting Mediums should not be used with traditional oil colours. As with conventional oils, it is always best to choose one medium and use that throughout the whole painting.
