IMO, this outperforms Blick's and Michael Harding's version which I've used in the past. The price is competitive with Jerry's sale price. Because of its value and high quality, I would recommend this to my students for practice. The handling is buttery smooth. Cleanup is easy.

Generally, dioxazine purple paints, if they have a lot of pigment in them, have a yellow sheen to them.This paint doesn', which indicares small amount of pigment. You may not notice it during the work, because this pigment generally have a strong tinting capacity.So if you generally have issues with strong tinting paints, like dioxazine purple, alizarin crimson, phtalo blue, this brand may be more comfortable for you to use.But if you work in glasing techiques and you rely on your dark paints to be thick, you may consider a different brand.

Whenever an oil paint company comes out with a new color or a new formula for a color, my tiny goblin brain goes "OOOHH" and that's it, that's all it takes. So, Winsor and Newton came out with some new colors and this was one of them and it is GOOD. Very vibrant, it is a good blue, I like it very much. Gives some good water tones and makes a really nice green too!

I buy all their oil paints as I love the colors I just wish that someone would invent a better way to seal the tubes when not in use. The caps get dirty quickly from the paint residue however careful you are to keep them clean. They get lost as they are small and then, when you've found the top, it's almost impossible to screw back on because of the crusty old paint, or, later, when you want to paint again, to unscrew off.
Quinacridone Magenta is a must in my palette. The shade is that of the magenta from printers, if you mix that with cadmium yellow and cobalt teal (cyan) you'll get a better basic color combination that the traditional yellow, blue and red. The only thing I didn't like it's that the binder is safflower oil. Next time I'll buy Williamsburg or Michael Harding oil paint. Almost all W&N oil tubes have this oil which is not good in the long run. Use instead oil paint with linseed oil as binder if you want your paintings to outlive you.
Winsor &Newton is my go to for Titanium White oil paint. I prefer the artist quality paint . It is worth the money because it blends so well with other paints for beautiful control of my colors and saturations. Jerry's Artarama is the economical place to buy this paint. . Maryblynch.com

This appears to be an excellent replacement for the heavy metal cadmiums. I use color bias and only the purest single pigment paints. I so not see any difference in mixes for greens. The price is very expensive but to keep heavy metal off the skin it is a fine choice.
Winsor and Newton Flake white hue is almost like authentic lead white with its ropey stringy and semi transparent quality. When used thickly, It tholds expressive brush marks and small peaks and curls. Compared to gamblins lead white hue, I find W and N a bit lighter and a bit more transparent which is necessary when working thinly.
i've been recently using our discrete over student grade because of that concentration of the pigment and I always use permanent green light I did not realize that like with the other colors it's just a solid slightly darker version. I love the consistency of Windsor and newton!
