A lovey and dark, almost violet earth brown color! The pigment is rich and opaque but not chunky or too thick. It has mild granulation but nothing chunky like you'd find with Daniel Smith. This makes the paint a nice mixer and easy to handle, I love it! Mix it with ultramarine blue for a lovely purple gray that wonderful for shadows! #sweepstakes

I've tried another venetian red and this one is soooo much nicer! The paint is creamy and smooth, not chunky or overly granulating. This version is also richly pigmented making it quite opaque, but it thins out smoothly, not streaky at all. The diluted color is a soft reddish- flesh color that's similar to quin burnt scarlet. I find that it mixes very well too, making beautiful grays with blue, specifically prussian blue. #sweepstakes

Very elegant design! It's perfect for my use case, which was trying to test out the textures and properties of different pigments and formulations. It's a very small amount of paint, at least compared to what you'll get from dot cards from some other brands, but it was enough for what I needed to do, and the sheer beauty and quality of the card and the paints more than made up for the quantity. I'll definitely keep this around as a reference - it's super well-organized! I only wish they also made one for their gouache!
