Great Australian Butter. I finally got around to finishing off both butter samples now. Two weeks ago I provided my review for the salted butter, now it's time for the unsalted review. So I'll cut and paste what I wrote before.... Both versions have the same amount of calories per serve, while the unsalted has a mere hint more fat. The salted version has half a health star rating less than the unsalted, as the level of salt here is very considerably higher than the other, by a lot (557mg to 10mg per 100). But taste wise, there isn't that much difference. having used both butters now I do prefer the unsalted butter. I'm a cook who likes to add my own salt, rather than having it dumped into my cooking in the ingredients I'm using. There's little taste difference ... MoreGreat Australian Butter. Just another excuse to jack up prices . Butter is one of those staples which are basically the same no matter what brand they carry. Except for one thing. In Europe, there is a minimum requirement of 80% butter fat, but not in Australia. Once upon a time, there were hundreds of butter factories spread across the country. Now we’re down to a handful of mostly foreign owned dairies who produce almost all the products on supermarket shelves. Woolies have used the ‘Australian’ tag to justify a hefty price premium over their Essentials butter. And they disadvantage people who won’t or can’t buy the bigger sizes, as others have pointed out. So I will stick with the cheapest, and if I need top quality, I’ll buy one of the European brands instead.

Good product. The only time I use unsalted butter is when a recipe calls for it. I thought I would try this today in a lemon loaf in which I normally use salted butter. I couldn't taste the difference and neither could my family. They certainly didn't complain that the loaf tasted different. I always buy Woolies brand butter and I will keep on buying it but I will make the change from salted to unsalted. The price is more affordable than other brands.

Nice Butter. I usually don't buy unsalted butter so was interested to try this. I had another bunch sample of a grains and seeds loaf and was able to pick up both together. I tried with the sliced loaf and it was very nice. Would I buy again? Probably not unless I cooked something that absolutely needed unsalted butter. I was disappointed though that on re wrapping the butter I saw the best before date - 25 September 2024. It went straight into the freezer, as I already had half a packet of butter open. If you are buying please check best before date.

Fresh, creamy butter. We're enjoying this fresh, finely textured butter in a variety of ways. Still no-one at our place has detected from its taste that it's unsalted. We used it to make a creamy white pasta sauce for dinner. It also brought out the strong flavour of a few specialty mushrooms that we fried and added to this meal. Even more simply it's lovely with Vegemite on fresh bread or toast and with honey on fresh bread or toast. We usually buy vegetable-based spreads but with this multi-purpose product we'll be tempted to buy it again.

Really good butter. I was pleased with my sample of this unsalted butter as it was just what I needed to make icing for a cake I made for my granddaughter. I had the CSR Buttercream Icing Mix and needed to add unsalted butter. The result was amazing. At a great price and made in Australia this product is a winner. I also used it to make a white sauce to which I added baby peas, grated cheese and Woolworths tinned salmon and it was delicious. As I mainly use a cholesterol reducing spread I don't buy butter very often but if I need it for specific recipes this one would be my butter of choice.

Basic Butter. Easy to locate at the bottom shelf of the cold section, this is an affordable Australian made butter with no additives or preservatives. The paper wrapper is great and works well. At 250g it is a good size for small households and those who bake minimally. Handy for those watching their salt intake or who are making recipes that call for unsalted. 4/5 stars as the larger packs are more economical and it is always a tiny bit cheaper at a leading budget supermarket. Would recommend.

Smooth and deli. I recently tried Woolworths Australian Butter Unsalted (250g) and found it to be a versatile and high-quality option for both breakfast and baking. It melts beautifully, making it perfect for pancakes and waffles. In baking, the butter performed excellently. It provided a rich, creamy texture to my cookies and cakes, contributing to a lovely golden color. The unsalted nature allows for better control over seasoning, which is a plus for any baker. Overall, Woolworths Australian Butter is a reliable choice that delivers on taste and quality, making it a staple in my kitchen. Highly recommended!

Australian butter. Perfect for baking. Great tasting Australian butter that is very versatile. Perfect for baking being unsalted as you can control the amount of salt in your recipe. At $4. 30 this butter is cheaper than other brands available and works just as well. However it is more expensive than the Woolworths 'essentials' butter made overseas. So if you want to support local be sure to look for the butter with 'Australian butter' on the packaging.

Great butter! Highly recommended!! I had not used unsalted butter before so was very surprised that this tasted very much the same as the normal salted butter. It is creamy and has the same consistency as more expensive branded butter. The package is much the same as other brands. I had this on a crumpet and it melted in and tasted just as nice as salted butter from another more expensive brand. I used a generous amount to make a white, cheese sauce (for corned silverside) and it cooked, tasted and blended exactly the same as the salted, more expensive brands I usually use. It is $3. 70 for a 250 gram block which is the cheapest in the store for this size. I will be buying this Woollies brand in future as I was pleasantly surprised that there is not really a ... MoreGreat butter! Highly recommended!!
