Nice and tender. This was easy to find in the meat department and even though it seemed a little dear, with the increased prices of meat and the reasonably generous size of the steak, it wasn't excessive, and no more than I expected. I liked that I could clearly see what was inside so I could choose the cut I liked best, one with less fat and sinew. 100% Australian gets a huge tick and thumbs up and also happy that there is minimal packaging (all parts of the packaging are recyclable for my area) while still well sealed to keep it safe and fresh. There are good clear instructions for cooking which is very helpful as I'm no expert on cooking steak, but I liked someone's else's review on here saying they cooked their one in red wine so decided to try that. I was a little hesitant with this product as my experiences with rump beef haven't been that great in the past - often chewy and tough. However I was very pleasantly surprised. The texture exceeded my expectations and was nice and tender. It was very tasty and the red wine marinade and jus gave it a nice finish and flavour. Overall we were both very happy with this steak. There was enough for two of us to share with our main meal at lunch today with roast veges and broccolini. I can highly recommend this and would be more than happy to buy it again.

Have you ever velveted beef? Rump is the perfect cut of beef for velveting. What is velveting you may ask? When you eat beef in Chinese stir fry dishes and it is quite soft, it has been velveted. to do this properly you have to make sure you follow the process properly - you slice the beef in thin strips, add 3/4tsp bicarbonate soda per 250g of beef and mix it through well. After 20 minutes rinse it off well and dry. Then it is ready to stir fry and you don’t have to worry about it going tough! It’s a foolproof way of cooking. If you leave the bicarb on too long it will make the beef too soften and lose some of the ‘meaty’ flavour, so for me 20 minutes is perfect.

Rumpy. I don't usually buy a rump when I want a piece of steak, I think I have turned into a bit of a steak snob! So I was not sure what to do with this one, but in the end, I went with pan fry with some salt and pepper and then into the oven for a few minutes. Served with vegetables, I cut into the steak and was pleased with the medium to medium-rare cook I had achieved. The first bite and the steak was so unexpectedly tender. I went in for another bite and it was even better. With a nice, meaty taste and so easy to eat, I was more than surprised. If you show this cut of beef some love, it can result in an enjoyable meal. Juicy and flavourful. Vacuum packed for freshness and the film was easy to peel from all corners, no “wrap rage” occurred. My packet of beef had a good amount of fat with a long best before date. Before I cook, patted dry the steak with a paper towel. Simply seasoned with salt & pepper and pan fried until medium rare in a cast iron frying pan. The end result was juicy, tasty, tender with meaty flavour. Served with caramelized onions, steamed vegetables and avocado - easy but satisfying meal. Moderately priced at $7 for 250g which could provide 2 servings if you’re not a big meat eater, the size is convenient and great quality 100% Australian beef. Thanks Bunch for the generous sample. I enjoyed a lot and would buy it in the future.

Affordable and versatile steak. Loved this beef rump steak!As one who has had low iron issues in the past I try to eat red meat regularly but the price is prohibitive as I had a preference for eye fillet. Until trying this rump steak I did not know there was a quality, affordable cut as I had previously chose taste over price, thinking the cheaper cuts were for stews etc. Woolworths beef rump steak is the answer! Delicious, tasty steak and a great price, packaged in a variety of weights. The first time used this product I pan seared on a high heat and served with mushrooms. The next time I thinly sliced the steak and flash stir fried in a dash of sesame oil and served with a simple satay sauce and rice. We continue to buy this product.

Moist tasty piece of steak. Love steak but needs to be prime in its age otherwise it will always cook ‘tough’. This sample was ideal with beautiful lines throughout and tenderness within. We simply used a very hot pan, added the steak with some garlic pieces and let it sizzle each side for two minutes. The addition of black pepper and cumin during this process extends the flavour of the meat even more. Toss a simple salad with a spicy dressing and presto - a beautiful meal. The price at $8:00 for 250 grams is reasonable these days and the sealed packaging is a great addition as well. Fabulous sample. Well done again Woolies.

Tender and succulent. 100% Australian Handy beef cut guide on the sticky label, showing where the cut comes from on the cow When I collected my sample it was on special 2 for $15 or 1 for $8 My steak sample had very little fat Easy to follow cooking instructions on the sticky label I decided to make a beef stroganoff. Cut it in thin strips, covered in seasoned flour and cooked in batches for a minute on each side. The finished dish was really delicious. The rump steak was succulent, tender, juicy and full of beef flavour. Unfortunately I didn’t have any wide pasta in the pantry, so had to serve it with spaghetti, but we still really enjoyed it and it will happily be a repeat buy.

Back home, I left the steak to come to room temperature before pan frying on very low heat initially (I always use this method if pan frying so the meat stays tender)As the meat warmed in the frypan a whole lot of liquid filled the pan. Water? As the steak cooked it appeared stringy looking. I like my steak cooked medium. Unfortunately, this was so tough I could not enjoy it. Very disappointing.
