Tasty but variable in tenderness. I was a little apprehensive about how much pepper would be in the marinade for these Australian lamb steaks, neither Mr Frosty or I are pepper fans, but as it turned out it was just the right amount to provide taste but not too much heat. The steaks were very tasty with none of the individual marinade flavours being overpowering at all. The tenderness was variable between the two good sized serves, with one piece being a little chewier than the other. I pan fried our steaks and they were cooked medium rare to medium in the time suggested, 8 minutes. Barbecuing instructions were also included as well as suggestions for three side dishes that could accompany the steaks. One good, the other not so. I was lucky to find these just before the offer expired. No one’s fault, just the supply problems experienced by many Woolworth’s stores. There were only four packs available and one had bone in each steak. These smelt very inviting when I opened the package. I cooked these in a non stick pan with a light stray of oil on each steak. I only cooked them for 3 minutes per side. We had them with veggies for a quick meal. The steaks where very tender, and I found the flavours of the marinade mild enough to taste without overpowering the lamb. The only downside was my partner’s piece had lots of fat and gristle. I’m 50/50 if I would buy them again. If both steaks had been like mine, without the gristle and more fat, I would definitely buy for ... MoreOne good, the other not so. Chewy and lack of flavour. I cooked the steak as per packet instruction. Sad to report it is not one of my favourite in the cook range. Taste wise I can only taste the pepper, no thyme nor garlic. It is over marinated with some other herbs and I can hardly tell its lamb. Texture wise, the steak was chewy and tough (I wonder if that's to do with the cut of the meat) and lots of fat. I would say at least 1/3 of the steak is fat. I don't think I will buy this product again as for the price, I can get a nice piece of lamb steak from the meat department at woolies, marinate myself and enjoy more. Thanks for the sample. I think this is one of the 'miss' as other products in the cook range have been a hit for me such as the beef briskets and marinated chicken breast!

Awesome flavour and thick cut fillet. The aromatic scent whilst cooking made me look forward to trying these. The thickness of the cut was surprising. I had thought it would be more towards a minute steak. Following packet instructions I cooked in a hot griddle pan for 8 minutes. 4 minutes each side. I like red meat on the rare side and this was more towards a medium but it was perfect. I did leave it to rest a few minutes before plating up. The texture of the filet was nice. Easy to slice with a serrated knife. Very soft to chew. The burst of flavour was delicious. Not overpowering as some coatings and marinades tend to be. At first i had scoffed at price saying it is not something I'd normally purchase but there was definitely enough meat to feed 2 adults. So at ... MoreAwesome flavour and thick cut fillet. Very enjoyable. I was walking around the COOK section looking for something different for dinner. I saw these lamb leg steaks and thought I would give them a go. Something for dinner and something for bunch! They were $7. 50 for 2 steaks $27. 78 / 1KG or 2 for $12, $25. 93/1KG. I bought the 2 packs in the hopes they would be good! I popped the second pack in the freezer for another dayThe steaks come on a film sealed clear tray so the steaks could be seen. They have the COOK range sticker on the tray showing the steaks on a cooling rack looking very nice. The font is a little small and glasses are needed to see the different flavours on offer I pan fried the steaks as per the pack directions and they were cooked through perfectlyThey smelled so good whilst cooking ... MoreVery enjoyable. Flavour is spot on. I was thrilled to receive this sample and was very eager to give these a go for dinner tonight. I had no trouble locating the product in-store and they were easily located with all of the other items of the 'cook' range in the meat department. There were several packets of steaks on the shelf, and I noted that they were all different shapes, sizes and had varying amounts of fat through them. Thankfully I was able to select a pack that was on the leaner side!We ended up having these paired with some garlic mashed potato and some simple steamed veggies so that the meat could shine. I did find that even though that despite selecting a lean packet, there was still some chewy inedible bits of gristle/fat on my steak which was unfortunate considering the small serving size. They were also a little on the expensive side at $7. 50 which for me would make them a special occasion purchase only. Thanks for the opportunity to review another product of the Woolies cook range. This product is definitely on the right track.

A tasty gem. So I’m on mixed opinions on where this product was located in store. There were other plain lamb steaks in the Lamb section, but these were separately located in the “Cook” range area. The cooking time of 4 minutes each side gave a nice medium rare cook for one of my pieces. The thicker piece came up more rare. Packaging could be improved as only the film could be recycled in store. The plastic tray was only to go in the bin. Could this be switched to a recyclable tray or even the new cardboard trays to improve sustainability The flavour on the meat was tasty and complimented the meat well, but could have been intense. I cooked and served it with a potato and pumpkin mash with steamed beans and broccoli.

Tender & flavoursome. I found the lamb steaks mixed in with the marinated beef products and liked the clear packaging as it meant I could choose the pack with the least obvious fat. Good price at $7. 50. I removed the obvious fat (15g or 11% of the steak) and cooked in frypan till medium rare and served with mash potato, beans and carrots. The garlic, pepper and thyme marinade was flavoursome and on the whole the meat was tender although there was a reasonable amount of skin within the meat. Lamb isn’t a favourite meat product of mine due to the fat content so unlikely to buy again. The high amount of fat I removed is the reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5. A suggestion for a new product is to make available mutton chops without marinade.

Reasonable for the price. My sister and husband volunteered to taste test this sample. 2 pieces of steak per pack, reasonable Use By Date. 4⭐️HSR and a reasonable price at $7. 50. Film top is ♻️ after a rinse via Redcycle instore, the tray is not and in the bin. Feedback: the 2 steaks varied considerably in size and thickness. These were cooked in a fry pan but suitable for oven, stir fry or bbq cooking. The smaller steak was spot on, flavoursome, moist, the marinade of thyme, pepper and garlic was subtle but noticeable and enjoyed by sister, thinly sliced and served with a garden salad. The larger thicker steak was served with steamed vegetables, it was tough, fat and gristle visible once cut through the middle and not enjoyed at all by BIL. Advice for future purchase is to to pay more attention and take time when choosing a pack. This sample pack was a last minute suggestion for a quick shop. Thanks Woolworths and Bunch for the opportunity to try this sample, always appreciated. One suggestion is improved consistency in the quality and pairing of the cuts per pack to make for a more enjoyable eating experience for both diners.
