A great gluten free product. I picked up this 350g sample of ‘free from gluten’ breadcrumbs and they were priced at $4. It states they are light and crunchy, perfectly suited for coating meat or fish, and they were exactly that, light in texture and crunchy. I used them for crumbing some fish fillets. I mixed the breadcrumbs with grated Parmesan and chopped parsley, then pan fried them in olive oil and butter. The crunchy texture reminded me of panko crumbs. I forgot they were gluten free while I was eating them, so they were pretty good. It is excellent that they contain No Artificial Colours, Flavours or Preservatives and that they have a 3 Health Star Rating. Whilst I think these are of a high quality, and I would highly recommend them to people who need gluten free, I would probably just buy the regular breadcrumbs (or panko) as usual in the future as I don’t need gluten free.... Woolworths Free From Gluten Breadcrumbs 350g. I’ve always made my own breadcrumbs so it was nice to see what the bought varieties can be like. This pack is a “free from” gluten-free product, which is not a necessity in our household but no harm in trying this sample. The ingredient list reads maize, potato and tapioca starches along with rice and soy flours (not in this specific order). Unfortunately the Aussie proportion of ingredients is only 39%. The pack is an appealing colour (to me) and I always appreciate a peek-a-boo window to see what is really inside. Zip-lock top is great (although I still want a plastic-free world) The blurb says these are “light and crunchy” and I agree. I find that gluten-free products seem to “crunchify” a lot better for some reason. My favourite use for breadcrumbs is to make a delicious crunchy topping to sprinkle onto my occasional comfort food of a plate of plain spaghetti “aglio, olio e peperoncino”. These are perfectly suited for this dish because of the crispiness of these crumbs. I also used them in a vegetarian nut-loaf, but I found them too fine and dry for this purpose and they made the loaf too crumbly in texture. While I don’t want to deprive anyone who needs this product due to there own personal needs, I really like my occasional comfort foods and will buy this product again even though $4 for 350g of breadcrumbs would usually seem a bit expensive to me.... Great substitute. These were easy to find in the health food section and while a bit dearer than normal breadcrumbs most gluten-free products are dearer so not overly concerned. It's also a generous sized bag that goes a long way which makes the price more reasonable. The pack contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, the bag is recyclable and also resealable which are all great features and a big plus. However I was disappointed that while it was made in Australia it only uses approx. 39% Australian ingredients. These look and act like normal breadcrumbs - I was hard=pressed to really tell them apart. Easy to use and coated my homemade chicken nuggets (chicken breast cut into chunks, dipped in mayonnaise, coated in breadcrumbs then drizzle melted butter over before baking in oven) easily. Cooked they came out nice and golden and crunchy and had a nice flavour. While we aren't using a lot of gluten-free products at the moment I would be more than happy to buy these and recommend them to others. Apart from only using a small percentage of Australian ingredients I was very happy with this product.... Show more

A Terrific Alternative! What a great product this is! I crumbed some chicken thighs for dinner last night and added some fresh chopped garlic parmesan and Italian herbs to the GF breadcrumbs and shallow fried in EVOO as I do with the panko crumbs. I did notice the heat had to be slightly lower so as not to burn too quickly but very happy with the results. I took a couple of pics of our dinner but I accidentally deleted them before I loaded them so here's a pic of the leftovers! (Lunch tomorrow!)Very crunchy and tasty and Mr n did mention "quite possibly the best crumbed chicken you've done!"These crumbs are made from Maize Tapioca and Potato starches and Rice and Soy flours with raising agents yeast vinegar and salt to complete the ingredients list. Crumbs that are not bread crumbs. Having previously trialled the Panko breadcrumbs, I was unsure what else I could make with these gluten free breadcrumbs. The easy thing would be to crumb something that we would then fry, like some fish fillets. But in the end we decided to make some lamb burgers. The bag labelling and colour scheme is fairly consistent with other “free from” items in the range. I like that the recyclable bag is also resealable as a zip lock bag helping to keep the breadcrumbs fresh. There is a clear window on the bag allowing you to inspect the breadcrumbs within. The image on the front of your bag of some crumbed schnitzels with salad is inviting. I had a little taste of some of the breadcrumbs on their own and they were very biscuity and small ... The image on the front of your bag of some crumbed schnitzels with salad is inviting. I had a little taste of some of the breadcrumbs on their own and they were very biscuity and small like sand grains rather than the more chunkier breadcrumbs I am used to. The breadcrumbs mixed in well with the lamb mince and I have to say they turned out nice but a bit dry and not as juicy as I am used to. It could be to do with the fact that we made them a bit thinner than normal. Anyway nothing a bit of tomato sauce can’t fix! Made in Australia from at least 39% Australian ingredients, this could be improved. No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives ✅Recyclable bag ♻️✅3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️Health star rating. Has about a 1 year best before date ✅Priced at $4 for 350g, is an elevated price that you would expect to pay for a gluten free product. I’m unlikely to purchase these again but that’s only because I’m not gluten intolerant.... Show more

Great Crumb, Crunchy Coating. Thank you bunch for my sample of Free From Gluten Breadcrumbs. Made in Australia from at least 39% Australian ingredients. I appreciate that most of the ingredients, which include Maize Starch, Tapioca Starch, Rice Flour, Potato Starch, Soy Flour, are grown overseas and imported, I'd like to know from where they are sourced. Another 'must have' in my pantry. Wow, Woolies, do you have spies in my kitchen?! This is another one of my pantry staples and, hey presto, it appears as a sample for me to rate. . . winning!I tend to alternate between these breadcrumbs and the Orgran panko breadcrumbs - I find both to produce excellent results. The big difference between the two versions is price - the Woolies Free From Gluten breadcrumbs are always a great, low price. I love the resealable packaging - it does a great job in keeping the product fresh between uses. The picture on the front is really appealing and, as always, I love the clear window which gives you a great look at the size of the crumbs contained within. I am a little disappointed that it only contains 39% Aussie ingredients, but I guess it's better than nothing. The product is made in Aus too, so that keeps some jobs onshore. As to taste, you can't tell that this product is gluten free. It gives a great, crunchy coating if you use it like that and binds things like meatloaf and burgers together really well. We no longer use anything but GF breadcrumbs, and everyone is more than happy eating them. I would definitely recommend this product, whether you are GF or not, and I will certainly continue buying it. If I had one improvement to make, I would love to see a higher rating of Aussie ingredients.... Show more

A Great Gluten Free Product! These days, there seems to be so many diets to cater for, that in some cooking and baking, this is used as a replacement bread crumb, catering for various needs - Particularly, in baking it wasn't noticed from the ordinary bread crumb. Being able to cut back on the amount used compared to normal crumbs and the ability to cater for more inclusive in one meal, it's a product found quite useful. A sturdy custard yellow, easy open package is an easy find, with a window showing the various ingredients that make up this light alternative to breadcrumbs, sadly it seems much of which is imported. The reseal zip is a beautie, keeping the pack well sealed and contents fresh. Pleasingly the bag can be returned to store for recycling. With no ... MoreA Great Gluten Free Product! Love it! This is not something that I would have ever thought to buy as there are no celiacs in the family (thankfully). On this particular day, I decided to make some crumbed pork. I did a side-by-side comparison with panko crumbs, which is my normal go-to type of breadcrumbs. On the left is a piece of pork coated in the gluten-free breadcrumbs (thanks Bunch for the sample!). On the right is one coated with panko breadcrumbs. First picture below shows the uncooked side, and second picture below shows the cooked side. As you can see, the gluten-free breadcrumbs is a darker colour to start with, so after pan-frying, it does not look as "golden" as the panko breadcrumbs. This isn't an issue for me at all. Texture wise, wow the gluten-free breadcrumbs do give a good crunch, I think even crunchier than the panko breadcrumbs! In terms of cooking, I don't deep fry so I normally add just enough oil to pan fry, and top up as I need to. I found that the panko breadcrumbs needed more oil top up. Overall, I was very impressed with the gluten-free product and this will probably be my new go-to breadcrumbs! Great that it is an Aussie product too!... Show more

Convenient and delicious GF option. So excited to test this product (thanks Bunch!) as I hadn’t seen it on the shelf before.
