Due to its mild flavour, basa is an excellent option for families. Our passionate Innovation Chef Amanda, recommends pan frying this basa in a little butter and garlic then finishing with fresh herbs and a squeeze of lemon.

Bocourti. Sometimes called this in North America and Australia but I've never heard the term before. My past experience with Basa is that is was a watery fish with little taste. . . especially if compared with the likes of Salmon or Barramundi. To minimise the water, I used a few paper towels over the space of a couple of days after defrosting. Then pan fried and was plesently surprised with the results. It's value for money for the amount you get.

Ok. Never had basa before so it was good to try something new. It seems to be a very mild flavour fish and not much smell to it. (the cats didn't even come running in the kitchen when it was being cooked!!). Not a strong tasting fish at all. The fillet sizes are quite large which is good and you get plenty in the bag. It is good value for money at $9. The cheaper price compared to other fish is because it is from Vietnamese sustainable farms. Not something I would buy but a good option if you want cheap fish

Easy Fish meal. Love this convenient product. I defrost a piece or pieces (as required) by lining an oven proof dish with baking paper and leaving the frozen fish pieces in the fridge (usually takes a few hours), draining the excess water, seasoning the fish by brushing each side with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic (optional), parsley flakes, and then, baking in the oven for 20 mins 180C. Serve with salad, or vegetables. An easy, healthy meal.

Love this fish. Very convenient to have in the freezer. I love this fish, can be fried, baked or added to any fish dish. I cooked from frozen in the oven. I just placed the frozen fish in a dish which I layered with foil. sliced some tomatoes which I layed on top, drizzled some lemon infused olive oil and cooked for about 30 mins. Served with baked potatoes and salad. Would recommend to others and will defiantly buy again.

Mild taste, no skin and so versatile. Loved trying these Basa fillets. The first time we lightly breaded them and pan fried and they were really lovely considering they were frozen. It's a delight to have no skin on them. The second time we cooked them I cut them in pieces and pan fried them with some frozen prawns and calamari, added a creamy sauce with parsley and served with vol au vents, it was delicious. And such a reasonably priced meal. These will now be a staple in my freezer and have already bought some more since first trying.

Cheap responsibly sourced fish. I am not a big fan of basa due to it being a very mild fish and the dubious country of origin. Upon investigating the packet’s responsibly sourced claim and the fish being farmed in ponds, my husband investigated and decided it was fine health-wise. I would like to know more such as how many fish per area in the pond and how they’re fed. The fish were quite large fillets, contained no bones and looked to be very good quality. I defrosted overnight, wrapped in cling wrap as I wanted two fillets. There was a handy recipe on the packet by a Woolies expert chef but I had chosen Cantonese Style Crispy Fish served with Jamie Oliver’s Tarragon, Grape and Fetta Salad. My husband said the whole meal was restaurant quality and wants it again ... MoreCheap responsibly sourced fish. Wonderful texture and taste. This fish was great. Total convenience to have in the freezer. Poached in butter and served with veggue rice we all absolutely loved this. Also cooked a piece in batter and that was delicious too. Will try making in a curry next time. Super versatile and we love fish in our house so this was an instant winner.

Great Taste. We were really happy with this fish and my family requested for fish and chips. Tasted really nice and had no strong fishy smell at all. Portion size of the fish was also really surprising. Each piece is quite big, so it was filling to have one fish per person (even half would be great). I'm going to use the remaining fish and steam it up to eat with rice. Well priced for $9 a kg and definitely handy to have this in the freezer, for when we feel like having a seafood meal. Here it is with a beer batter Thanks Bunch!

Great Fish Fillet. This was a very welcome gift and product to test. I really enjoyed making a delicious curry out of it, which resulted in second helpings all round. Cannot tell the difference between this and other brands, and especially in a curry, no difference between fresh and frozen. Will definitely buy this in future (especially at the price). Thank you Bunch for giving me the opportunity to taste-test this one.

A Firm Fleshed 'All Rounder'. I'd never tried Basa before but I'd heard it was a firm fish and decided to try a home style Sweet and Sour Fish. I was pleasantly surprised. I cut it into bite sized pieces and dredged them with a cornflour/pepper/salt mix. This made it tender yet still a little chewy and not too 'fishy' tasting. I'm guessing it would be great for kids meals as there were no bones either. Very enjoyable Meal. Basa will be a standby freezer basic for Fish Pies, Curry etc from now on. Thanks for the opportunity Bunch
