Kitchen Staple. A staple in our kitchen, great for adding that extra kick to meals. Fresh cloves are always the best, even minced garlic is pretty good. But find this is a handy spice/herb to have on hand. Much prefer the new look of the little jars with their green lid, and capital letter G standing out in front. I like to have my jars in alphabetical order. In my 0. 50cent garage sale spice rack, picked that up years ago. When making our own fat chips, we like to sprinkle this over them for some lovely garlicky goodness. Downside, made in China. And packed in Australia. It costs $2. 00 for this little jar and is, well I think the best one around. Will buy again when we run out, cheers all.

Chinese garlic. Garlic is a staple in my house, be it by the bulb or powdered. However, I only buy Australian garlic, so I was disappointed to note Woolies using Chinese garlic (packed in Australia) for this product. The taste was fine (I used it to season some roasted sweet potato, carrots & cauliflower). The vege were steaming when I added a bit more seasoning, so the contents were inevitably clogged the next time I went to use it, but just popped it in the microwave for 10 second bursts and gave it a stir with the end of a teaspoon and it was all good. Price was good too, but I'll be sticking to local produce.

Tasty, must have item. I have been buying this garlic powder for a few years now. Ever since I came across it. And honestly I pretty much use it in every savoury meal I make. My family and I are huge garlic loves and yes I always use fresh aswell. However depending on what you make fresh can burn easily. So I use this to coat my roast potatoes before baking. I add it to Taco seasoning to give it a little more flavour. I add it to my pasta salad dressing, my spaghetti sauce and also great to use as a coating mixture for air fried or oven baked chicken tenderloins. Just to name a few things I use it for. It adds a nice spice garlic flavour but isn’t over powering at all. It especially livens up any chicken dish. Oh and add to mash potatoes as well just so good.

Good choice when you can't use garlic cloves ... I've found this product, along with the garlic flakes, a reliable option when you want to add the flavour of garlic to a dish (eg. spaghetti bolognese) but due to dietary restriction (FODMAP) are unable to use crushed garlic - I added some of this powder to the canola oil in which I browned the meat (which prevented the fructans from being absorbed). I like that this product is 100% garlic but would prefer that it was not a product of China as the control over the use of chemicals/pesticides in agriculture is not as stringent as it is here. As with other spices in this range it was favourably priced. The packaging with its split dispenser cap was very convenient. I will probably continue to purchase this item, unless ... MoreGood choice when you can't use garlic cloves ... Easy, Fast Garlic! I have only ever used fresh garlic before so garlic powder is new to me. I used it in my Mexican bean soup instead of fresh garlic. I am pleased that the powder is 100% garlic and you can confirm this by the smell. The smell is lovely and definitely garlic haha! The taste is the same as fresh garlic. I will continue to have this on hand and use in times that I do not have fresh garlic or have the time to cut fresh garlic. The packaging is recyclable and the use by date is a few years in the future which are both plus’! Pictured is the soup I used the garlic in. You can find this recipe by searching Mexican Black Bean Soup
Just like the mainstream brands, only cheaper. I got this a couple of weeks ago but wanted to try it in a few different dishes before reviewing. I've now used it in a spag bol, a stir fry, garlic chicken and sprinkled on home made pizza. I like and use a fair bit of garlic, and found this easy to use with good flavour. While it doesn't quite match the fresh alternative, this is a much simpler and easier option if time is at a premium. It also keeps a lot better than fresh garlic. All in all, I found that this is a great product and I wold buy it again. A great staple to keep in the pantry. I deducted a star as it would be perfect if it was made from Australian garlic.
Not the same as real garlic. This is the first product I receive that I had no idea what to do with. I've always used fresh garlic in recipes, and I was a bit reluctant to replace it with this as part of the flavour comes from the reaction as garlic gently caramelises in oil - would this really be a replacement? To avoid disappointment, I've instead limited my use of this product to places where a hint of garlic would add flavour but where it isn't part of the fundamentals of the dish. So far, I've used it as seasoning for roasted vegetables, a flavour booster for instant udon, and in salad dressings. For me, the main benefit is that you can add a hint of garlic without having to use a whole clove (which is great if you're making a small quantity of something) and ... MoreNot the same as real garlic. It won't replace garlic in normal cooking for me, I'm not sure if I'd buy it regularly (especially since it isn't made from Australian garlic), but it clearly has its place.
Handy Seasoning. I have been using the garlic powder for seasoning of chicken. I agree with alot of the other comments on the powder going hard very quickly. I have had to use a spoon or knife to try to break up the powder, and I have only used a very small amount.
This spice is very mild. I've tried this garlic spice in some mince last time I had tacos & although I could smell the mild scent of the garlic from the product I couldn't really taste it in the meal so last night when I had dinner I sprinkled a little bit on top of my mashed potato & vegetables to see if I could really taste this garlic at all & I could but it was very mild, I love my spice's in powder form but I would of preferred this one to be a little stronger like medium strong that way I could really taste this. Like all the Woolworths spice's they are basic packaging with cheap price's this product alone is priced at $2. This product also harden's up half way down the bottom of the packaging which I haven't had with my other spice's before so definitely ... MoreThis spice is very mild. Convenient but is it healthy? Location: In the spice aisle. Packaging: In a glass bottle with a dual flip top lid that allows for sprinkling and/or pouring. There's a large "G" on the front of the label which makes it easy to identify amongst all the spices. The cap and bottle are recyclable. Taste/flavour: I found the product to have quite a bland taste and only had a very slight hint of garlic. Uses: Can be used in many types of cooking that require garlic when fresh garlic is unavailable. Price: $2 for 50g or $0. 40 per 10g. Pros: It's convenient as it has a long life and can easily be added to recipes. Cons: Unfortunately, whilst this is packed in Australia, the garlic is produced in China which has very different agricultural practices than Australia. It has ... MoreConvenient but is it healthy? Pros: It's convenient as it has a long life and can easily be added to recipes. Cons: Unfortunately, whilst this is packed in Australia, the garlic is produced in China which has very different agricultural practices than Australia. It has come to light than garlic grown in China may be fumigated with methyl bromide and may be grown in untreated sewage, watered with water that contains lead and sulphites and may be bleached with chlorine to make it whiter and increase its shelf life. Until Woolworths can guarantee that this product is made from garlic grown with more stringent safety regulations, I don't believe that it's worth the potential damage to health for the convenience of the product. Overall: I will not buy this product until agricultural practices in China are more in line with Australian standards. I don't believe that it's worth a small financial saving when there may be some damage to health. Woolworths also sell another brand that offers powdered garlic grown organically in the USA for $1. 47 per 10g.
