Chocolate Cake Vegan Style. Really liked this cake and was expecting something not so nice but was pleasantly surprised. I did keep the wrapper because I really wanted to research what was in this cake that was different to call it Vegan. I'm not a vegan and most of the vegan's I know about seem to be a pack of weidos so I want to see what they would eat. Now I know why they are nuts they eat too much sugar. The items missing from this cake that normal cakes have are really only Eggs and Milk and a normal person can make a cake without milk and eggs (although if you look at my photo of the ingredients it states egg and milk ?maybe present under allergen advice. Really Nice Vegan cake. I had been looking at this cake a lot on my shopping trips when it was first released. I am so glad that I was able to finally try it, the only thing that stopped me before is the price of $6 for two slices. However I can understand the price as it was a very rich and dense cake. I really loved the coconutty flavour of this cake and I could taste a hint of fruitiness, which was pleasant. The richness and thickness of the dark chocolate on top was heavenly. Loved the added roasted hazelnuts on top, it gave it something extra. The cake itself was quite dense but it was so moist. Tasted like a normal cake. Would of went well with some vegan ice cream. I liked the inclusion of so many substitutes to keep the cake vegan, there is apple purée, coconut cream, coconut extract, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, among some other ingredients. There is also Belgian Dark Chocolate in the listing. There is 26. 3g sugar per slice, and after I fell on the floor at such a high sugar amount, I still decided to buy it because I just wanted to try the cake anyway. I don’t mind sweets but don’t really like things to be too sweet. I think the sugar content can definitely be reduced in this cake. The cake is made in Australia from atleast 64% Australian ingredients. The product is frozen from fresh, but didn’t have the usual unappealing clammy consistency probably because it’s a chiller cake and not a shelf cake. The chocolate cake itself was very tasty and reminded me of the Woolworths chocolate mud cake. I also could taste the slight bitterness of the dark chocolate afterwards, which isn’t a bad thing. Today I served up the remaining slice with some cream, which really helped balance the sweetness of the cake. The cake could be served topped with some raspberries which would compliment the sweetness and intensity of the dark chocolate. We both liked the cake and I would buy it at some other time when I want a chocolate mud cake. We thought it was like a posh cafe cake. Even non-chocolate eating hubby liked itThe taste didn’t taste like it was lacking anything and I think this cake tastes much better than the other mini regular Woolworths cakes I’ve sampled. I hope Woolworths bring out more vegan bakery items but reduce the sugar. I bake cakes and biscuits without using eggs at home and use little amount of sugar or honey, so I think it can be done. It would be nice to see some vanilla and other varieties too. I also think because it’s so dense and sweet, the way I served the slice, by cutting it smaller, is actually the correct size. So, we’d get 4 slices out of the 2 full sizes. It is too rich and sweet for me to eat 1 full slice. I mean, I’ve already packed on my winter hibernation padding, so I don’t need any more sugar kilos on me

The ganache is creamy and smooth and the nuts on top add that bit of texture to the cake. The cake itself actually tastes like a regular chocolate cake. It even tastes a bit like a mud cake. Although it is quite high in fat and sugar, it's a yummy treat to have every now and again. The price isn't too bad either. I thought it would've cost a bit more. Love the fact that it is made with quite a few Australian ingredients and the packaging can be recycled. Overall, I would buy this product again seeing how delicious it is but only as a treat food. Lovely and moist, well balanced sweetness. I loved the Woolworths Plantitude Vegan Belgian Dark Chocolate Cake. The cake itself was moist, dense, isn't too sweet and delivers a punch of cocoa. It's topped with a sweet and creamy topping and chopped hazelnuts. I found the Woolworths Plantitude Vegan Belgian Dark Chocolate Cake extremely well balanced in terms of sweetness and enjoyed it more than I enjoy non-vegan desserts. I'm looking forward to trying more in the Plantitude range.

Delicious! I only ever buy these when they're marked down to clear, as they're too expensive at the normal retail price, but they're delicious! I'm not vegan but quite enjoy vegan desserts as I find them sweeter, and I'm a bit of a sweet tooth, so for others this might be too sweet. Slices are a decent size and generous icing with the ganache too. Flavour is rich and lovely, also pairs well with ice cream. Lost a star because I think the normal price is just too expensive.

Although each slice was considered a "serve", probably splitting it into two would be more appropriate if you don't have a very sweet tooth. The cake was rich and tasty, with a more mudcake texture. Of particular note was the ganache, which was very, very sweet. The generous hazelnuts on top was a good respite from the sweetness of the icing. I would recommend serving with cream or berry compote to offset the sweetness. I was impressed by this as a 'vegan' cake, however was disappointed that this didn't translate into a somewhat healthier option, with each serve containing 15. 8g of saturated fats and 26. 3g of sugar. This is an almost guilt free snack knowing the ingredients are made from plant based ingredients. Will I buy again? When I'm feeling indulgent. If it's on special, it's a definite buy.
