Good flavour. In the interests of an honest review, I asked hubby to test this product, as I couldn't (wouldn't) eat oysters if you paid me LOLWe found them easily on the shelf
among the other fishy things, and they were a lot cheaper than the named brands. His comments are as follows:-The can was easy to open. The oysters looked nice and
plump. They had a nice smoky taste, but not overpowering. The oil gives a nice finish to the product. He ate them for lunch with olives, cheese, tomatoes and Italian bread.
He said he would buy them again, even though he was disappointed they were from China. He thinks they would go well with crackers !!Thanks to bunch for the ... Show more

Oysters in oil. I give the smoked oysters in oil a solid 4 out of 5 stars. The oysters themselves are tender and smoky, while the oil enhances their natural flavors without
overpowering them. A delicious and indulgent treat for seafood lovers.

Great Lunchtime Snack. These were easy to find on the shelf. Love the Blue colour on the packaging, as it makes you think of seafood, and the clear description on the front
in big writing for a small item it also very well done. The oysters had a great consistency. The flavour was a little bit smokey, but not overwhelming. I am not a person who
likes fresh oysters, so this was truly a sample to try and I found them better than I expected. I had them a lunch snack, which was a good portion size for one person. Now that
I have tried them, I would consider buying them, and maybe try the other flavour (in Springwater) that they come in.

Surprised me. I did think that for the price and being a 'home brand' that there was no way these would be as good as the brands I usually buy. But they were! Took me by surprise that the taste and quality was as good as the more expensive options I have purchased in the past. I will definitely not walk past these again!... Show more

Protein alternative for my omelette. I am a big fan of Fresh oyster but have never tried tinned oyster. After seeing most bunchee use it on crackers, I decided to go the opposite direction by cooking it in my omelette. 1. Drain the oil from the tin and use it to saute 1x sliced onion and minced ginger. 2. Add a packet of frozen spinach. 3. Cook for 5 mins until it's soft. Set aside. 3. Crack 2 egg whites and 1 whole egg. 4. Add the cooked spinach, onion and oyster into the omelette. 5. Season with salt and white pepper and it's done! I had a few of these smoked oysters on its own and think they are too dry to my liking. That's why I decided to add them in my omelette. Literally I replace them with shredded ham. The photo doesn't do it justice but I did enjoy it! ... MoreProtein alternative for my omelette. I am a big fan of Fresh oyster but have never tried tinned oyster. Has anyone tried to cook them as well? Would love to hear your idea and recipe!!... Show more

Definitely need to love oysters to enjoy these. I feel like the taste of oysters is something you either love or hate - there isn't any in-between. I decided to try these as a sample from bunch. Generally speaking I used to be quite fussy with seafood, only ever eating deep fried fish however in recent years I've loosened up a bit and started eating salmon, squid and prawns. I definitely did not enjoy these and was unaware of the fact they'd come in a tin - originally I was looking in the fresh seafood area before checking the tinned tuna aisle. They don't look too appealing and reminded me a little of cat food, the taste wasn't great and I wouldn't recommend them unless you're an absolute oyster lover. Taste aside, the packaging was clearly labelled and the tin had ... MoreDefinitely need to love oysters to enjoy these. Perfect grazing platter addition. We enjoyed these on a weekend family grazing platter. Its something I had never thought of trying but my whole family enjoyed them. Firm texture, beautiful smokey flavour, slightly salty and not overly oily. High in protein and low in carbs these are a great snack to keep on hand. Great that 100% of the packaging is recyclable. I only wish they were an Australian product. Im not a huge fan of tinned Chinese items due to their water/hygiene quality so try to avoid at all costs. I liked the flavour and idea of this product but wouldn't buy again unless it was an Australian sourced product.... Show more

OK but still prefer fresh oysters. I have never been a huge fan of smoked oysters in a can although I do love fresh ones. I was interested & happy to try these as I expected that they would have improved in recent years but still did not love them anywhere near as much as fresh oysters. They have a completely different taste & texture.. They were acceptable as an addition to our antipasto platter at christmas with crackers & some of our guests did say that they enjoyed them. If i was to try these again I would probably make a dip with them as one reviewer said they did. Their appearance was a little off putting for me as well, although the cover photo was quite accurate. I would also prefer to buy these if they were produced i n Australia rather than China but they ... MoreOK but still prefer fresh oysters. Smoky blobs. These have been sitting in my pantry cupboard staring at me every time I opened the door. I was a bit afraid to try it incase they were gross. So I finally mustered the courage to open the can today. My first impression was the waft of smoky fragrance... And then I see this mess of little blobs sitting in oil. Definitely not very appealing to the eyes. Thankfully the smell was pleasing. I tentatively picked one out with a fork and took a bite. Ok, it wasn't so bad, even kind of alright. Part of it had a meaty kind of texture and bite to it and a bit of it was grosser squishy texture. I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase again but I wouldn't be grossed out if they were served up.... Show more

Good protein snack. Full marks to Woolies for disclosing the exact provenance of these oysters - Crassostrea gigas cultivated in the Yellow Sea via raft culture. At $1. 50 per can, they are much cheaper than the same size John West can at $2. 75 which has the same ingredients from China. They have a 4 star health rating and according to the nutrition label, provide 29% of the Daily Intake of protein per serving. The ring-pull can was easy to open and packed with plump oysters giving off a strong seafood smell. My sample tester had them on crackers and finished them in one go but found the texture a bit mushy and would have preferred a less smoky flavour. Overall, a convenient, good value seafood snack, providing a good serving of protein.... Show more
