Woolworths Worcestershire Sauce 250ml

Pantry Staple. First thank you bunch for another sample. This is a great Aussie product and affordable. No nasty additives and ingredients easy to read. I tasted it on its own and compared it to a different branded one I had in the cupboard and I found the Woolworths one had a lot sweeter taste at the start then finished with the spice kick at the end. Were as the other one I already had (more expensive and organic) didn't have that full sweet punch at the start and had a bit of a vinegar kick too. They both have the same amount of sugar in them but the organic one has natural sugars from fruit and the Woolworths one has sugar and golden syrup which makes sense for the sweetness taste of it. I like this sample but it is a little sweet for me, it will go great in gravy's and stews add some sweetness with a kick. Its got a great expiry date will last for ever. The reason I gave it 4 stars is it was too sugary sweet for me and comes in a plastic bottle. Although stated its all recyclable I prefer buying these type of things in glass. I would still recommended this product as it tastes like Worcestershire just sweeter, I prefer my other brand therefore would not purchase in the future.

It looks... like a brown liquid in a plastic bottle. I know what the sauce is but it has never appealed to me and being in a plastic bottle didn't perk me up or get me any more excited!What does one use it for other than a Bloody Mary? I had to google. Apparently it goes well on a roast chicken so I went for gold and poured basically half the bottle onto the chicken. I have played with fancy worcestershire sauce in the past purely during cocktail season yonkers ago and the sauce seemed different back then, it had a lot more flavour from what I can recall. Anyway, tried the sauce as it is on its own on a spoon and then cooked up with a roast chicken. Nothing for me to brag about. It is what it is a mild flavoured very watery worcestershire sauce. I don’t buy enough to know whether that is the norm so I can’t really compare too much but it wasn’t for me. Further, I produced a lovely blushing rose flush within ten minutes after trying a spoon of it so obviously something in the bottle didn’t agree with me, my face was on fire!At $2 for a plastic bottle it is cheap but you are also getting lack of flavour and really watery results. Spend a bit of extra $$$ and enjoy something with a thicker consistency and a punch in your face flavour. Please do not use this “sauce” in a Bloody Mary as you will not be a happy little drinker!

I grew up in Brisbane with Angelo worcestershire sauce and it was used in everything we ate. However that brand is now where to be seen since I left Brisbane, I have probably spelt it wrong but never seen it again. Anyway the OPITH swears by Lea & Perrins from his homeland and as they do the majority of the shopping now it's always in the pantry. First test was on hot chips and they couldn't tell the difference between the two sauces. Second test was on a spoon and that is where you can really tell the difference. After checking all ingredients the main difference is the Woolies brand does not include Anchovies as an ingredient. Both are otherwise very similar with tamarind, molasses, sugar of some form, spices etc so apart from the anchovies very similar. The advantage of no anchovies is that it is suitable for vegetarians. I do like that the Woolies brand was made in Australia from 97% ingredients compared to L& P made in UK. Woolies was only $2 for 250 ml compared to $3. 40 for 290ml. Woolies in a plastic bottle but it is recyclable as is the glass bottle for the L&P. I think that we will probably get the Woolies one again, just that I have to buy it and decant it into the L & P bottle LOL.

Great tasting sauce. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavour of this Worcestershire sauce, and made a point of tasting both the sauce we normally purchase and compared it to the Woolworths branded sauce. I am happy to advise that I found the sauce to be just a flavoursome as the brand we normally purchase and at a considerably less price point of $2. 00 for 250ml, our normal brand is $5. 50 for 500ml. The Woolworths sauce would have a slightly less peppery than the original brand, but personally I found this more palatable for my taste buds. The product has less sodium and sugar content than our normal purchase. This product is a winner for us and will be a return buy. Thanks for a great sample.

Great to have in the pantry. I only just discovered Woolworths Worcestershire Sauce by accident when I needed another bottle. I used to buy the more expensive brands. Woolworths brand $2. 00 for 250mL. Attractive bottle. Neat pouring dispenser hole. Perfect for measuring spoons or cups. Made in Australia from at least 97% Australian ingredients which is great! The ingredients list is all natural. Nothing unrecognisable. I would describe the flavour as being in between BBQ sauce and HP sauce. Long expiry date of 31/8/2024. I use Worcestershire Sauce mainly for my homemade meat pies and Shepherd’s Pie or if a recipe particularly asks for it. It’s one of those condiments that I don’t use often but when I do, it enhances meals and tastes great.

Not quite the same. I was excited to receive this as a sample to review iew as my husband is an aficionado of the OG sauce. He was the perfect person to be my guinea pig. I added some W sauce to his meal without saying it was this Woolworths brand. After only one bite he asked me what the sauce was and why hadn't I given him W sauce. Drats, found out so quickly. I showed him the sample bottle and he said it tastes and smells different to the original W sauce and he felt it probably would be better having a different name or a label saying it is similar to W sauce. I tasted it myself and found it nice enough however I rarely eat W sauce so would trust my husbands experience much more. Comparable with other brands. This sauce I found a little difficult to rate as I only use it as an addition to stews and meat dishes - not as a sauce on it's own. But I did do a little taste test to compare to the other brand I have in the cupboard and it is very similar. The ingredient list is a bit different which surprised me considering the tastes were similar. But I like the fact that this one is made of 97% Australian ingredients whereas the other brand is only 90% - both still very high percentages though!! I also like that the Woolworths brand is suitable for Vegetarians, Vegans and is gluten free which the other brand isn't. This WW brand don’t have anchovies and lists ‘vinegar’ (unsure what type). It is suitable for vegetarians or vegans which is fine but it would be good if this is clearly reflected in the product name for those who prefer their sauce with anchovies. There’s a strong vinegary aroma upon opening. The colour is lighter than my current brand and is a little watery. After a quick taste test by spoon, it tasted plain, tangy and acidic – somewhat lacking in depth and umami’ness. I put 2 tbsp in a pie filling of minced beef and the dish turned out ok but wasn’t overly rich or intense. Packaged in a cute, easy-grip bottle, it contains 97% Aussie ... MoreNo anchovies. It’s disappointing that the lid needed to be unscrewed fully to use, previous designs didn't need the lid to be removed, just ‘lift and pour’ (as pictured). The current one is also using plastic bottle whilst previous ones use glass bottles and so are most branded ones. Not sure how a vinegary liquid would react in plastic for years in storage. Tamarind Extract, Garlic, Spice, Flavours. I’d still opt for my current brand which uses anchovy and malt. Whilst it's a bit pricier, I’d still get the familiar flavours I am used to as well as better designed packaging. No buy.

As good as name brand. I love Worcestershire Sauce and can’t have a breaky fry up without it. All my life I’ve had or bought a big name brand until finances started to get tight and I looked even further into store brands and came upon this. Well, it’s just the same salty, slightly fruity taste I love on my eggs and baked beans. if you’ve never tasted Worcestershire Sauce give it a go, particularly on your eggs and bacon. And if you do buy it already have a go at the Woolworths brand. The packaging is fine and similar to any sauce product.
