Wtb Venture TCS Road Tyre - Black/Tan Wall
The WTB Venture TCS Gravel Tyre is a fast gravel tyre thanks to its narrow and raised central studs. These form an almost continuous center line, which reduces rolling resistance. Next to the tread, the studs are spaced further apart to provide sufficient grip on unpaved terrain and when cornering. The two rows of outer studs with dual-compound rubber provide a confident feel when cornering. This makes the tyre feel very predictable and controllable on gravel and paved roads. The risk of punctures is minimal thanks to the good protective layer and tubeless capability with latex sealant. The WTB Venture tyres give priority to low rolling resistance without compromising too much on grip on short climbs or during direct braking. It is a perfect fit for gravel racers looking for speed, as well as everyday riders looking for an efficient tyre that excels on many surfaces, including asphalt, fine and coarse gravel.

Use the 40mm wide as my day to day tire on my cross bike. I use it for commuting, gravel riding, and trail riding. They have very good traction on dry dirt and gravel. They are fast enough on pavement and hard pack. They are durable, I have put ~2500km of pretty hard riding and the tread is still in good shape, they are wearing way better than Riddlers I have had in the past. They mounted tubeless easily. The negatives are they are a bit heavy, not a gravel racing tire. They are terrible in the mud and wet. The tight tread pattern cakes up and they get really sketchy.Overall a great allrounder for ripping everything day to day, just skip the single track when the conditions are wet.

We bought these to replace Schwalbe Marathon tires with tubes, fitted to Hunt 650b wheels. The terrain we've ridden so far has varied from somewhat greasy intermediate singletrack to chunky gravel and a tiny bit of pavement. We are impressed by the additional traction, durability, ride quality and speed that these tires added compared with the previous touring tires. Between removing the tube and switching to these lighter weight tires, we measured a 1kg reduction in weight - per wheel! - without any apparent tradeoff in durability or (so far) longevity. That's a huge performance improvement on its own.Tubeless setup was straightforward. We periodically spun the wheels for the rest of the day as we remembered to in order to distribute sealant around the inside of the tire, then overnight we laid the wheels on their sides so the sealant could fill in the slightly porous sidewalls. Despite a small amount of sealant bubbling out of the sidewalls, this turned out to be a non-issue - eventually all the porous bits were filled in, and the tires have held air beautifully ever since (as well as any other tubeless tires I've tried). We did not experience a single flat across at least 200mi of mostly gravel, some of which was quite chunky and would happily take a bite out of a too-light tire given the chance. We are both impressed by the versatility and quality of this tire and would highly recommend it for truly mixed terrain.

Let me first say, I love these WTB road plus tires. I have a couple of different models and, with the exception of what I'm about to mention, they've been nothing but great. On this set, I was able to set them up on my rims, inflated them tubeless, all went fine. One started losing air at about 10psi an hour. Kinda typical with new tubeless setup. Sprayed soapy water and tiny bubble start forming on the sidewall! Happened on both tires but worse on the rear. Will update the review after a few days but, right now, cannot recommend.

I do a mix of tarmac and gravel with the occasional single track ride in the woods, these Handel everything very well. Fast rolling and with plenty of grip, on dry and packed surfaces. These are fitted to my Scott Solace ERide 30
Had trouble with these from the start. First off, one of them was mislabeled as a different model, even though they were both identical. Then, I had a very hard time with both tires getting the bead to seat correctly. Ended up needing to use soap and water to coax them on. Not a deal breaker at home, but then I used them in a gravel race and got four flats within 36 miles. The problem with the bead kept persisting, and I had no way to fix it out in the field. So not only were they uneven on the rim all day, they’re also apparently very susceptible to punctures. I’ve ridden the same roads on the same wheels with Gravel Kings and had no issues, so I’ll be going back to those. Giving two stars instead of one because they might work out better for someone who sets them ... MoreHad trouble with these from the start. These tires will keep you glued to any terrain you feed it! Zero pucker factor when leaning on those single-track turns. Complete confidence when bombing down that loose gravel descent. They are fast on the flats aggressive on the climbs. Go farther with WTB's!
I wanted to swap from my WTB Senderos as I found them noisy and slightly sluggish on the road (which is to be expected). The Ventures are great at mixed terrain riding but they don’t have much traction in mud or clay. So, Senderos for when it’s mucky and Ventures for the drier trails.
First, the good. Off road, these enabled my drop bar gravel bike to handle up to intermediate mountain bike trails, albeit with stretches of hike a bike due to extreme under biking, not tires. They provide plenty of traction in both dry and wet conditions.Next, the bad: this tire is slow on pavement. It's not the tread pattern, it's probably the casing; it feels like you're lightly dragging your brakes as you ride. It doesn't feel this way on dirt. Finally, your mileage may vary: tubeless setup didn't go well. There was leaking through the sidewalls, which usually resolves itself, but they also leaked through the bead to rim interface, which is game over. Note this was on WTB rims. Since you can't tell whether the rim or tire is at fault, I don't fault the tire. ... MoreFirst, the good. Tubeless setup on anything but mountain tires on mountain rims is a gamble. Conclusion: if your bike spends greater than 80% of its time on dirt and gravel, these tires a great choice. If you spend a significant time on pavement you should look elsewhere.
I have never experienced a tubeless tyre as bad as these for sealing, every time I inflate the tyres they leak through the sidewalls, around the entire circumference. No punctures just literally leaking sealant through the sidewallsSigma sports have been no help either
This is my second set of these tires. I just love them. I use them for gravel riding. I have them mounted on Crank Brothers Iodine Twin Spoke wheels. I can't say enough good things about them. Great gravel tires! My buddy just bought a set as well, and can't believe how much he loves them. He put them on his Spinergy wheelset. We both love the way they roll. Quiet and crazy smooth. Terrific ride! If you are considering this tire, I would highly recommend it.
