WWE 2K20 - Xbox One

Definitely enjoyable for some mindless wrestling fun. Can definitely tell that since my last title in the series that they've made some upgrades to the play and overall engine that made it pretty easy to just pick up and play whenever. It's not going to win game of the year or anything but it definitely has it's moments.The showcase mode wasn't really all that interesting to me because Rey Mysterio is pretty lame in my opinion and it takes itself way too seriously while the controls make some of the tasks way more challenging than they should be. Literally if you go too extreme with changes it seems to crash every time. It took me several attempts to actually get to play and finally I just slapped on attire and a mask to cover up the generic starting body just to get through it. That kind of sucked because you don't actually wear the outfit through the PC training part or in a lot of cutscenes so I had to look at the ugly generic dude the whole time.MyGM was pretty boring overall. Felt like playing a spreadsheet almost. Didn't really feel like a rewarding game mode.The thing that really stood out though was the community creations. You can basically find any wrestler or famous person ever to download and play as. Even wrestlers I forgot about entirely like Mosh and Thrasher. I ran into a Harambe at one point too. The game itself has made so many options available for moves and outfits that you can basically make anyone with a little effort and it looks like the players really have.My biggest disappointment with the game though is the music selection. I always start out these titles with making my own custom character and by the time I was done with just the overall basic body type and started working on fine tuning I had heard every song in the game already. I actually stopped after attire just to go to the menus and find out how to turn off all the songs because it felt like I was listening to the same 5 tracks over and over. It got really grating, really quickly especially because none of the songs were very good. Like if you aren't going to use basic background music and actually going with bigger name artist's tracks you need a decent number to make it so it doesn't immediately become repetitive.Overall I'd say it's worth it at half price or less if you just want to throw people off steel cages or smack them with steel chairs like I did. Pretty fun to be able to basically play any wrestler from your childhood thanks to the community too.

Can be fun but has too many problems

Now I paid very little for this game picking it up in late 2020 for $3 (which is basically what it's worth if I'm being honest). I don't find it to be a terrible game and I've enjoyed it but if I had paid $60 like many did at release or even $30 I would not be happy not at all. As for the good and the bad....The GoodDecent rosterMost of the time it works without issue (to call this a good is really sad but it's all I can think of)The badRoyal Rumble tends to cause an error and the game to close completelyCharacters get stuck in place whether in the ropes or other random places.AI will sometimes refuse to leave the ring

Do Not Buy

This game is awful. 2019 is much better. I got the game looking forward to the roster, but the entire game is one large glitch. Rather than play through the glitches, I unlocked some legends and wanted to play around in the old Raw and Nitro arenas. The “fuzzy footage” look has changed for the arena graphics, and it’s at least headache inducing, and at most, cause for a seizure. The old arenas are unplayable due to the awful overlays, while the rest of the game is just one giant glitch, from CAW to universe, nothing works, even with a 15 gig day one patch. I WISH you could return games for a refund. I’ve never missed a WWE/F game dating back to the NES. I’ve got every game ever made, and of the last ten years, possible fifteen, this is the worst. Glitchy and mess of a game. Believe the reviews.

I wanted to truly give this a chance after reading all of the horrid reviews about the quality control for this game. Though, after just one playthrough - I sold it near immediately on Ebay.com for well below it's asking price. WWE 2k19 was an amazing gem compared to this - this game is completely lackluster, ridden with bugs/defects, and the character models I was shocked looked like they came out of a PS2 game. I couldn't even get through one match without an entrance glitch, a championship disappearing from someone's waist during an entrance, the "Small knees" glitch, or controls working properly. I regretted purchasing it entirely. I will stick to 2k19 until the new studios manufacturing these games since Yukes left can rebuild our trust. I tried but I tap out

Wrestling fans and gamers alike, I tried but I tap out. Where do I start? From a graphically challenged money grab by 2k or from the disdain that 2k has for its customers? I am a lifelong wrestling fan which goes to say lifelong wrestling game fan as well. When first 2k first announced they would publish WWE games I had a sense of joy thinking they would bring the myCareer success that was so great on Nba 2k over and make the wrestling games better year over year. Instead we got 2K14 and 15 which kept us thinking the series will get better not good but ok. Then 16 and 17 hit and we say you know what these are good games. Don’t buy this game, glad I used gift cards otherwise I would be out $130 bones. The graphics are tragic, the game play is slow and unbearable. The new controls are the worst part, and glitches let’s not go there. I can count on one hand of times where the game worked correctly. If you want to feel disrespected this is the game for you. I know how to figure out where to throw this game as a return is out of the question. The Rey Mysterio signature I got is nice. I am done with 2k

LOVE this game! not as bad as claimed to be!

At first, I myself was skeptical about this game and had initially skipped buying it when I had seen reviews and seen the horrendous glitches and bugs within the game itself upon its release. But then I started hearing how after patches and updates, the game itself was starting to become less broken and more stable so I thought to myself, why not buy it and see for yourself if it’s been fixed, and I’m glad I bought this just this last week (I’ve played it everyday since). I also happen to own 2K19 as well and in all honesty this game after the updates and patches plays close if not IDENTICAL to 2K19 gameplay wise. Yeah, all games have glitches/bugs upon release but eventually they end up being fixed as was the case here. Also, for the review that stated how the game cut back on legends, umm no. Just like the 2K games before this one, you have to build up VC (in game currency) by playing matches, different game modes, etc and once you have enough (from 1,000-5,000) you can unlock additional superstars (including legends), arenas, championships from the purchasables section under the STORE option under the main menu. But on an ending note, this game is absolutely an improvement since release after patches were released. So, if you haven’t got it yet and have 2K19 and want a semi-updated roster, I’d get this.

Might Want to Check Out Reviews Before You Buy

So far, 2k19 is way better. Much better graphics, better targeting system. Which is weird. You'd expect WWE games to get better and not worse. Also, there are a TON of glitches, not just in matches, but in create a wrestler mode. All that aside, there isn't much that I would consider new. Only new match type is mixed tags. But it seems like we get the same apparel, same moves, same match styles as 2k19. Hoping they'll release a patch soon to fix everything that is wrong with this game. Check out youtube reviews to get a better idea of what I'm talking about. I love these WWE games. I'm a huge fan and I've been playing for a long time. So I really do feel disappointed with this new installment. And a little ripped off, to be honest.

Nice only if the right price!

I buy this game every year like an idiot, and this year is probably one of the worst years for this game. You've probably heard and read how glitcy it is. There's already been a couple of patches that came out. The only reason I got it was because I still collect it, but this year I waited for the price drop instead of going for it opening day (and I couldn't wait to see and play the Fiend). The graphics are very crappy this year too. They seem to get worse and worse each year. This looks like something i'd expect to see on my PS2 or PS3 at best. Its almost laughable how bad the graphics are! Everything else is pretty much the same as every year. The showcases and towers are cool. Nothing special, its like every year with an updated roster. Normally $90 for the complete package, now being sold regularly "on sale" for $30 everywhere.It took 1 match to see the AWFUL graphics, the constant graphical hiccups, and poor everything else. Too many glitches at launch, also visuals mixed

Developer change this year, leading to perhaps so many documented glitches at launch of the game - really hinders the experience. Also, many of the character models, particularly the faces are a downgrade from previous iterations on a quality/artistic basis. Some of the gameplay controls have been altered, but you can adjust to that with time. Patches reportedly on the way, but this could have benefited from some heavy beta testing. Buy this series every year, so definitely a disappointment - I don't doubt that it will be fixed in the coming weeks, but this should have been planned better.There are some cool fantasy elements added this year that shows some outside the box thinking, but I would prefer that some other functionality and match types return and/or ... MoreDeveloper change this year, leading to perhaps so many documented glitches at launch of the game - really hinders the experience.
