Wyze Cam V4, 2K HD Wi-Fi Smart Home Security Camera, Indoor/Outdoor Use, Pet/Baby Monitor, Motion Activated Spotlight/Siren, Enhanced Color Night

We’ve had it installed for about a week now. We got it to try to figure out who/what was getting into our blueberry bushes. Both the camera and the Wyze iPhone/iPad app are easy to setup, the App walks you right thru the process. The picture quality is great for something in this price range. I like that it tells you what it sees, it has correctly identified everything that trips it, vehicle, pet, person. It did have a problem during a recent downpour, it kept getting triggered, but that was only one time so far. With the exception of the power supply the camera is totally exposed to the weather and has not had any issues so far. The app is a little quirky. A bit disappointed with resolution & speed

Overall the V4 is a solid camera. It well loaded as far as features are concerned. The details are a little less appealing, however. I find that the initial connection that this camera alone has to my wi-fi to be slower than most of my older generation Wyze cams. That's pretty annoying considering this unit was swapped in for an OG version that reacted much faster. The V4, too, has a marginal improvement in video "clarity" or detail even viewed on my not-so-old iPhone 14 Pro Max. I made the swap because I wanted to improve the images at the front of my home; to monitor unknown people and cars passing by. Maybe the OG is a real value although the v4 was very competitively priced.

Disappointed

So far I’m not overly impressed with these new cameras. They boast about having the best picture clarity in the market and that’s not true. Same pixelated issues all the the old cameras have. The settings are wonky too. I had to shut the spot light off because it kept popping on for vehicle because there is a parked car in view. And at night the spot light is only good for up close objects. Best to just leave it off and use night vision with IR lights, which of course defeats the purpose of getting these new cameras. I also can’t find a scroll option for video recording. They only seem to have events to look at. The old cameras allowed me to pull up the live video feed and scroll back a couple days to see everything that happened. The V4s do not. We also find that they are constantly loosing network connection where the V3s did not. When we pull the cameras up to view they are always having to reconnect instead of just being there. It honestly SEEMS like a big step backwards from V3s and we’re probably going to switch the V3s back in for these.

Light but pixelated.

I really thought this camera was going to be significantly better than the ones from previous models. I placed it in the window, replacing an older model that barely worked, and I was so very disappointed in the quality of The images. I am surrounded by trees, so there is no way to possibly make a detection zone, so it records everything last night there was a thunderstorm and the lightning that it caught was so pixelated my original camera that I first got captured much better and much more clearer images. It’s light and feels plastic-y. Pros and cons there. It is so light, I had to stick it on top of the window with the adhesive. Well, the older models are heavier. They seem more durable, with the exception of the wireless out. Severely disappointed in Wyze Cam 4

It is nothing like my prior devices. At least with my door bell I get a small video snippet to view when triggered, which is not the case with this camera. When triggered it takes you to a simple picture and you have to backtrack and then go to the SD card to try and view the video by selecting from a ridiculous time graph. Even then it does not play much of a video. Way to complicated versus my wyze doorbell. Also no matter how I have set the detection zone, it still gets triggered by movement in areas I have specifically blocked out in the menu. I am extremely disappointed and would have hoped this would have been the same style viewing as my doorbell. Small but mighty camera with awesome video quality

Amazing video quality in the same compact form factor we've come to know and love from Wyze! I absolutely love the new v4 Wyze Cam, but I have to admit, I bought it without an intended purpose at first. Wyze put out a new camera and I knew I needed it; I just wasn't sure for what yet. When the camera showed up, I plugged it in, and setup was as easy as all their other cameras and I was up and running in less than 5 minutes. I let the camera run for a day and night on my back deck and when I saw all the detail I could see at night in total darkness I knew what I wanted to use the camera for. I set the Wyze Cam v4 up as a sky camera - the starlight sensor picks up the night sky beautifully and I've been making all sorts of timelapse videos of the day/night cycles ... MoreAmazing video quality in the same compact form factor we've come to know and love from Wyze! Under whelming

The quality of the cameras is better but apparently my 1 GBs internet isn't fast enough because it'll bounce between amazing quality and not. Otherwise I'm just disappointed that I got 512 mgb SD cards that the ad said was supported but they won't continuously record. To solve that you want me to dangle off the roof to Uninstall them, then either do it again or leave them off so I can take a photo of the numbers on then and possibly get them replaced so I can dangle off the roof again and hope that this time they work. As it is I essentially don't have any security now because these will not record. Maybe I'll try different SD cards but the cards I got are fine so pretty annoying if they said 512 works and they don't. Wyze Cam v4 are incompatible with Cam Plus Lite

Wyze Cam v4 seems like a good product. I bought two to replace my Wyze Cam v1 that are still working. Unfortunately Wyze doesn't offer support that would make them compatible with Cam Plus Lite. So my new cameras won't do person detection unless I commit to a costlier subscription. I'll bet I could have found the info if I'd dug deep enough first, but apparently I didn't. So I'll have to stick with my two old v1 cameras with poorer resolution, poorer low light imaging, and worse motion detection (amoung other disadvantages of v1 compared to v4) in order to keep the ability to detect people with my current subscription. Seems like this might be a plan to force new, costlier subscriptions on those of us who committed early to Wyze products by making our current plans ... MoreWyze Cam v4 seems like a good product. Wyze V3 to V4 replacement.

To date my V4 from V3 upgrades went quite smoothly. Everything is working well.Two comments: The pigtail on the V4 is shorter than on the V3. I used an off the shelf exterior watertight box that secured the pigtail connection from the V3, but is too short to housethe shorter V4. Not a deal killer, but not as clean as the V4 install.At night when a car pulls up in my DRIVEWAY it is near impossible to read the license plate, the V4 camera is blinded by the vehicle headlights in any mode I use for night time vision. Again not a deal killer, however I would think having my cam plus subscription might be something Wyze can leverage for vehicle identification and perhaps post processing of the license plate.

[Rewarded Review] Huge upgrade from V2

Huge upgrade from my Wyze V2. Night and day quality huge improvement. and now weather resistant. Because of the MP upgrade, you will need a larger SD card. I went with a 256gb and it gets about 2 weeks recording. 128gb is about 7 days, and 32gb is 2 days. The built in motion detection is very sensitive, and will send you a notification every time a leaf or a shadow moves on a windy day (even if you adjust motion sensitivity (had it down to 20%) and Detection zone.) I went to Wyze Unlimited, which uses AI for detection. 95% of the false positives went away, and I feel remote loading times is faster. (which seems like you are being forced into purchasing it). I have 11 camera total, so there is value in the subscription.
