This was a birthday present for my fiancé and he yelled out of surprise and excitement and then he teared up quite a bit. The console came in excellent condition and we had it set up and going within minutes. It’s difficult to get any time on it myself because of how thoroughly he loves this console. Amazing purchase well worth the money. I would recommend buying new, the horror stories about buying used ones are awful and not worth the risk to save not much money. (We don’t have a ton of disposable income but I guarantee that it will be less expensive and time consuming to just buy new, Walmart had the best price at the time of my ordering). So very very satisfied!

My boyfriend and I actually won this at his work Christmas party last year during a raffle drawing. We were super excited because we had a PS2 that we were using previously that no longer functioned for Netflix and other apps. But once we took it home and read about it we learned that it doesn't take physical disc's and the memory was only enough to hold 2 or 3 games that must be downloaded or played from the cloud. Unfortunately we needed to buy an expansion pack if we wanted more space, and the ones that are built into the hardrive were very expensive. Now there are other brands out there that you can buy for less money. Three plus side is, the graphics and new games are very high quality, and the speed is pretty good too. I purchased the Xbox series s for my granddaughter for a Christmas present approximately 5 years ago. I honestly don’t know very much about x box and I also purchased a bunch of games for the Xbox for her. What I did not know was the Xbox series s was an all digital box. Would be great if you had good internet but we don’t. All games have to be done online:(. Which means everything else in my home on internet has to be off. That doesn’t work well here. All the games I purchased weren’t any good because there is absolutely no way to put the discs into the Xbox. Approximately 9 months into owning it started to overheat. I contacted Xbox and support was excellent! They immediately replaced the Xbox which has been in the bag since it was received and removed from the box. I purchased her the cyberpunk Xbox special edition to replace the Xbox digital series s. She does love that one though! I keep the Xbox series s in Michigan for her to use(even though she hasn’t) and I keep the cyberpunk special edition Xbox in Florida that she uses all the time! My suggestion for everyone purchasing Xboxes is to do some research. If you want discs and offline use the Xbox series s isn’t the right purchase for you.

I can’t believe how many reviews there are over the same issue which is Verizon not holding up their end of the deal!! I too accepted the free Xbox Series S with gift card & headset deal with purchase of 5G Home Internet. I switched phone companies. I got the new iPhone, watch and tablet too! Let’s not forget I’m on the most expensive plan as well! I should’ve read the reviews first! I’m very disappointed and giving me store credit isn’t going to cut it. I’m at the point of where I just may cancel if things don’t go as they should…. They keep telling me I can claim it soon in the app but haven’t seen anything about it AND they forgot to send my WiFi extender that was will to come with my 5G internet! Like what’s going on! SMH 😤😣
Games like Minecraft and Starfield load up faster than they did on Xbox One S console with really great 4k graphics on a 4kUHD tv. Comes with almost no apps installed, including YouTube, and does not update apps/games in the background, so just a heads up on that. The choices for Home backdrop pictures are a really nice added touch. It comes with a slightly smaller controller that is easier for shorter fingers to hold comfortably. The console is roughly 2/3 the size of a Series S console, and comes with the newer cord instead of a power brick as well as the 4kUHD HDMI cable. This arrived the day before the initial estimated delivery date, let alone the additional 5 day grace period requested by the new vendor. This is nice as the audio doesn't have to compete with a fan to keep a smaller room from getting too stuffy.
Incredible performance and compact design. Its 512GB storage, while smaller than the Series X, is sufficient for storing a good selection of games, especially with the option to expand storage using the Seagate Expansion Card. The load times are lightning-fast thanks to the SSD and the console's support for Quick Resume, which lets you switch between games seamlessly. The graphics quality is impressive for a console of this size and price, delivering crisp 1440p resolution with smooth frame rates. It's a perfect fit for those who value performance but don't necessarily need 4K gaming. The design is modern and compact, making it easy to fit into any entertainment setup. It's affordable, powerful, and a fantastic gateway to next-gen gaming without breaking the bank. Highly recommended!
3 years after release, the Xbox Series S still remains an excellent value. Personally, I own a higher-end gaming PC, but I purchased the XSS as I wanted to game on the couch without having to deal with setting up and/or tweaking my PC titles. With my 1080p TV and a Gamepass Ultimate subscription, it fills the niche near perfectly. The two notable downsides I've encountered with the XSS have been; * The ad-riddled dashboard An unfortunate staple of MS system software that's gotten worse overtime. Just the other day I (and every other Xbox user) was greeted with a full-screen advertisement for the new Call of Duty game, with the 'buy now' button automatically highlighted. Terrible. * The middling storage capacity Despite being 512gb, a big chunk of that storage is ... More3 years after release, the Xbox Series S still remains an excellent value. Just the other day I (and every other Xbox user) was greeted with a full-screen advertisement for the new Call of Duty game, with the 'buy now' button automatically highlighted. Terrible. * The middling storage capacity Despite being 512gb, a big chunk of that storage is reserved for system use, leaving you with only 364gb of storage. Modern games have been ballooning in size, with many being around (or exceeding) the 100gb mark. Expansion options are terrible; you're forced to purchase an expansion card for around double the price of an equivalent m.2 2280 SSD, or perhaps more, cutting into the value of the XSS. The internal cards are m2-2230 (a rare size, though becoming more common thanks to Steam Deck & others) and have a partition 'locking' them to the console. Meanwhile thePS5 provides easy, user-friendly access, and supports any SSD that meets their (non-proprietary!) specification.
I bought it 2 years ago when I got my paycheck from my last job. I literally said I was going straight to best buy and grabbing a new Xbox. The first thing I did was download Arma Reforger. (If you're a PC player chances are you know the series) a game I didn't believe that was on Xbox since it was a exclusive only to PC as far as I know. It's so small and compact I could fit everything I need including a crappy Chromebook and a potato asus laptop as well. And still have room. Now since I've been running what I nicknamed "big Bertha" the base Xbox One surprisingly it was a model that was produced in the first year of production. I got it 50 bucks. If anyone has played GTAO on 360 or on PS4 or XB1 knows about the horrid load times to get into a session. (Only to get blown up by oppressor). Now some cons; the I don't like the fact that in the 2020s we still have to pay a subscription to play a game we spent our hard earned money on. But I guess that's what happens when you don't spend 1k+ on a PC. Either way it's a good purchase. Consider grabbing one with some kontrolfreeks. Trust. (I play too much destiny) -StrykinStorm
Everything about this console would make it a 5 star if the parent company wasn’t so greedy and horrible. Great price, great UI, compact and quality design/build- all around a great console experience. The downsides are just as substantial though. You have to spend the money on the premium version of the console to use your back catalogue of disk games. You cannot redeem your previously purchased disk games and have to buy them again digitally. I love the ease of use and quality of digital downloads, just wish there was a way to use all of the other games I own without buying them again or spending twice as much on the premium console. It is also deeply unfortunate you have to purchase a wired headset OR an Xbox branded/approved wireless one. It is unbelievably ... It is also deeply unfortunate you have to purchase a wired headset OR an Xbox branded/approved wireless one. It is unbelievably frustrating that we’ve reached a point where accessories are proprietary/limited. I have also gone through 4 Microsoft controllers in 2 years. They get plagued with stick drift or the headphone jack breaks. My final gripe is the price of storage/requirement for external secondary storage. All of these are another example of shareholders being prioritized over consumers (the only reason the company has success).
The Series S may be the little brother of Microsoft’s line up, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not perfect for you. For the average gamer than does not need the best of the best, this beats any console out there. The power it provides in conjunction with the size is incredible. This little machine was made to game. No, you can’t play all AAA games at 4K 120FPS, but that’s not what this was made for.
