Good classic Sonic games

Nice to have the first four original games on cartridge, but the additional game gear games and other stuff is by download only in the code they give you in the box. Feels less like the classic authentic Sonic the Hedgehog and more like Japanese cartoons. The anniversary mode is the best about the collection. Unfortunately you cannot go back to get the emeralds if you miss them and that’s pretty easy to do. That part makes it harder than Sonic Mania.I tried getting the price match in the store as it is higher than online. With the amount of classic Sonic collections released over the years, it's nice to experience these games in new and fresh ways. Unfortunately, however, this collection is not without its caveats. Both playable Amy Rose and Widescreen support are great additions, but we have those in exchange for a butchered Sonic 3 OST. It's not that the original PC songs are bad, but they don't stand anywhere near the same levek of memorability as the original songs. Every previous collection included these songs, so to finally see them removed in a more permanent manner is a bit jarring, if not disheartening. The mission mode is alright. It's just haphazardly strung together with some very noticeable grey blocks to keep you within the challenges' confinement, but they're fun ... MoreWith the amount of classic Sonic collections released over the years, it's nice to experience these games in new and fresh ways. It's just haphazardly strung together with some very noticeable grey blocks to keep you within the challenges' confinement, but they're fun enough on their own.The bigger shame here is the emulation of the Game Gear titles. Slowdown is prominent, and the audio quality is almost unlistenable (unless you use a single ear bud). Seeing as these games are highlighted as one of the game's selling points, you would think there'd be a bit more care in making sure the emulation quality was anywhere near decent.Despite the drawbacks though, Sonic 2 & 3 are still some of the best games on the Genesis, so it's not a terrible way to play them by any means. It's more dependent on whether or not you feel like dropping $40 is reasonable to a collection like this.

It's a good collection of games (although they should've added Sonic 3D Blast Genesis, both Saturn & PC version, Sonic Spinball Genesis, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine Genesis, Sonic the Fighters) plus all Game Gear games. Some of the physics in Sonic 3 & Knuckles feels different compared to the original but it's still playable. Sonic 1, Sonic CD, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles have an Anniversary Mode which is a Widescreen version, infinite lives, you can retry the Special Stages as long as you have enough coins. There's also a ranking system which lets you play each level from each game to get a better time & you can compete against others to get the highest rank. My one issue with the game is that the Physical/Retail version aka the Disc version comes with a DLC code for the game. Meaning, if you get this game used & the Disc says "Sonic Origins Plus" you're actually getting Sonic Origins, meaning you have to buy the DLC digitally to get Amy Rose & the Game Gear games. The DLC should be included in the Disc version automatically so I'm disappointed with Sega for doing that. Ofher than that, I like this collection. Almost as good as Sonic Mega Collection Plus.

You ain’t a true Sonic fan if you don’t grab this gem for your collection. This game is simply one of the most loving odes to the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise. It’s almost like a tear came to my eye when I saw how it seemed that the developers put so much love into it.I ordered this for the Nintendo Switch and when the Best Buy Associate brought it out to my car curbside, I had to ask him if he made amistake, because the game case looked much larger as if for Xbox or PlayStation. It turned out that Sega included a special concept art book with the game and the traditional Nintendo switch cartridge case was enveloped in an additional cardboard case with artwork of its own; this was really just marvelous imo cuz they didn’t have to do that.I was a bit ... MoreYou ain’t a true Sonic fan if you don’t grab this gem for your collection. For me it’s no biggie and the download was incredibly fast and space efficient.Of course, I could not have asked for a better retailer from which to buy this game. Best Buy never disappoints with their amazing deals, and I got this truly wonderful collection of over 16 games for an incredible price. It was almost like a dream come true.

The games are fun, and Amy is really fun to play as well.Unfortunately, there are things lacking that makes this more of a money grab.1- There should have been proper level/character select for sonic 1, 2, and CD. This brought back some childhood memories from growing up doing what nintendont. Blast processing at its finest, all the way to the bottom of all the pits in all the sonic games. Come to think of such blast processing (if that's even a real thing) was kinda pointless in sonic games considering they are platformers with enemies everywhere. Either way about the game. Will say its an awesome compilation and comes with a booklet that was pretty nice to look through. The only downside is that only the main sonic games were on the cartridge. The 12 or so game gear games were all free downloads. Not sure why this had to be the way. you could probably put every game gear game ever made onto a 100mb cartridge without issue but it is what it is. There was also a slight change to at least sonic and knuckles (the only one i played from start to complete). The change was there were no lives. If you collected a 1up it gave you a star and this was used in the emerald section. This kind of took the challenge away a bit. Not a deal breaker but kinda wish it was more standard. Will also say maybe there is something in the settings to change it back to original but didn't look to hard. All in all i recommend if you are a fan of the series or even just wanted to relive some of your childhood.

I am a long-time Sonic fan who very much loves the franchise, so I HAD to get the pre-order for this physical edition when I heard it would be getting a small artbook included; however, the book in question could barely pass as a pamphlet. They are scribbles and doodles along with CGI wallpaper art from prior game release Sonic Gems Collection that were somehow printed in lower resolution and look slightly blurred. The other issue with this game is that the DLC to play as Amy Rose and Knuckles in certain games is a download code inside the box, not on the actual CD of the game, so the physical purchase is pointless to get unless you want a CD of Sonic Origins. Moreover, the 12 additional Game Gear titles are POORLY emulated within the game's code as they are ... MoreI am a long-time Sonic fan who very much loves the franchise, so I HAD to get the pre-order for this physical edition when I heard it would be getting a small artbook included; however, the book in question could barely pass as a pamphlet. Enjoy these bit-crushed afterthoughts thrown into the game.Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is worth it, but if you already downloaded this game earlier this year, skip the physical edition and just download the expansion for $9 and save the trip.P.S Ice Cap Zone music for Sonic 3 is still the prototype song and not the original from the Genesis release.

Love Sonic the Hedgehog and his glory days of the 90’s? Look no further than this game for the nintendo switch. Yes, the mainline sonic games have been rereleased plenty of times before, but how many times have you been able to play Sonic CD? Yes, this has Sonic CD. The original is worth a lot of money today, but with a purchase of $40 dollars. But wait, theres more. This purchase comes with multiple Sonic games that were locked away with the handheld Sega Console from the 90’s. Also, we get to play as the four main heroes of the Sonic franchise in their awesome retro look. I have no tegrets with this purchase be ause this takes me back to my cjoldhood. Thank you, best buy for having this in stock
