This is great for the price. I seen other reviews on this saying the plastic melts around the front part. Not at all and I used it for about 30-45 mins straight. Definitely recommend this product and would buy again

I had my original XU1 for 3 years. Used it solidly without issues until it began to fail. Replaced it with a new one. On its 2nd use it began to smoke and the outer casing melted. Swapped at Bunnings thinking that I'd just picked a faulty one. Used the 2nd new one once and after maybe 45-60 secs it too started to smoke and melt so much so I was worried it would catch on fire! This product is unsafe!

Definitely do not buy this
4 July 2021

I really regret buying this. The plastic outer shell melted and the cord was so low quality that it only turns on when the cord is bent a certain way. This definitely should not be sold in stores.

Good for the price

It is a cheap gun, but you get what you pay for. The metal nozzle melts instantly when first used, and continues to melt and produce horrible smell if used for too long. Other than that I have had for over 6 months and seems to work fine!

Pretty good for what I need. Although I do wish it had a more pin pointed adapter piece. Aside from that it works well. It’s quite noisy to guess that’s to be expected.

Melted itself.
7 May 2021

So, was using it to strip paint off a car, in short bursts of heat gun/wire wheel alternatively and suddenly smelt burning plastic. Had a look around and saw smoke coming from the heat gun, turns out it decided to melt itself. There aren't many tools that destroy themselves from their own purpose in life........

No good for windows
15 December 2021

First time i used this, it started to smoke and had a funny smell coming from in the inside. Turned of and left it for an hour or so. I intended to use this to take tint of a window (As I have done many of times before with other heats guns ) 40 seconds into the job, cracked the window. Heat is too hot. A little over powered for this kinda of work, but, probably better for removing paint. Wouldn't recommend on windows.

Outright dangerous
9 February 2022

I have been using this for periods up to 60 seconds with a few minutes break in between over an hour. The outer casing is not well insulated and as a result has melted around the heat pipe.Unusable and dangerous.

too weak even on high setting
29 May 2022

ive used a number of the cheaper brands and i ought to have learned my lesson. this cheapy is great if you have one job and youre not in a hurry. it works, it gets hot, the trigger switch is cheap and the top setting is just too weak for any half serious application. i would say this is a great cheap unit to have for irregular jobs when you dont have big areas or youre not in a hurry. ill keep this guy as a backup and buy a name brand.
