We did this, using the instructions from the Yale website. Of course this was time consuming, and all of the codes were lost and had to be re-programmed again. It was necessary to create a Master entry code again and then reprogram all of the other codes. Another time-consuming experience. This worked for about one day, and then the beeping started all over again. We called Yale Customer Support. The tech who answered the phone was super unhelpful and told me that the locks were out of warranty (by about 10 weeks) and nothing could be done. I threw both the locks away in disgust and bought 2 Schlage keyless locks instead. The wifi is built in. They are trouble-free, a dream to install and operate, and are just fantastic! Save your money and your sanity and buy the Schlage locks!! Avoid these Yale locks!!

We got this lock in May. It was amazing because it allowed us to manage our rentals from afar. However, after the first installation, for every 3 weeks it kept beeping and locking people out. Our tenants at the time kept having to replace the batteries for us. We contacted the Yale support in July, they were very quick and provided us a free WiFi bridge in August. Now keep in mind my house is small. The distance between the front door and the router is less than 20 feet, and now with the WiFi bridge, it should not happen again.Well it did again in November. So we contacted the customer support again. This time they provided a replacement unit for free and claimed that ours from Best Buy was defective unit. However, it also means it doesn't come with as many bells and whistles as the one we previously installed, which isn’t a bad thing when you’re dealing with explaining to an elderly person how the lock works. Having had some minor experience installing smart locks at our previous residences, the Yale Assure Lock 2 was the easiest one I have installed and took less than 30 minutes from start to finish. The “Cliff Notes” version of the installation process would simply be removing the previous deadbolt lock, unless, of course, you’re having to drill out holes in a new door, installing the new deadbolt where the previous one was using the included screws, placing the keypad on the exterior of the door, sliding the mounting bracket and interior latch on the inside of the door and securing it with the pre-installed screws, sliding in the Wi-Fi accessory and placing four of the included AA batteries in the in the interior compartment and finishing up through the Yale Access smart phone application. You’ll also want to install and calibrate the small magnetic Door Sense device on the interior of your door frame which allows it to tell whether the door is open or closed.Once you create a Yale account and sync the new lock to your account, you’re up and running. Within the smartphone app, you can add new users which is convenient when you have multiple persons living within the house, set your lock code, set up the Wi-Fi, allow access to your location so the lock will know when you are arriving to the house in case you want to enable the auto-unlock feature (super convenient by the way), and auto-lock feature which will ensure your door is locked within a set period of time from shutting it. You can also sync your voice control devices such as Alexa, Google or Siri to access the lock and perform functions as well. The Apple Watch even has an app you can install to control the lock.Overall this is a great option for those in the market for a smart lock made by a well know door hardware company which is very simple to install, easy to navigate in the smartphone app and aesthetically pleasing to those that want something more discreet.

Two of things I enjoyed the most was locking the door with the push of the Yale button and “Passage mode” which is used when you want to come in and out multiple times and not have the door auto lock on you, which only works if you install doorsense module that is included.I only really had 2 issues with the Yale Assure Lock 2 and they are the thumbturn which just falls out and its something that is easy to lose and the second thing is that the latch is not adaptable/adjustable for the depth in the strike pocket (hole where the lock goes into). With this being a smart lock I think the calibration should be able to adjust it self if the strike pocket area is not deep enough. Now don’t get me wrong Yale lays out what the requirements are and even provides you with rulers for measurement so you can pre-measure everything, but being a smart lock this is something that should be adjustable.Overall the Yale Assure Smart Lock 2 in a great looking smart lock that is packed with functions that I would recommend to anyone in the market for a smart lock.Pros:• Easy instructions• Premium product• Great smart featuresCons:• Thumbturn issue• Un-adjustable calibration
So I debated between 3 & 4 stars but settled on three, because this lock gets a lot of things right, but still has some issues. We’ll start with the good - installation is very straightforward and well explained, necessary batteries are included & the proximity Auto Unlock works great. The bad - calibration is tedious and hard to undo. I was installing in a door where apparently the previous deadbolt was shorter. The app asks you to calibrate with the door open, so I ended up having to chisel out a decent amount of cinderblock even though the door would securely lock without it being 100% extended (I also tried calibrating without the door open & it never accepted it, so that wasn’t a work around). However, it does what I want it to in that I can lock it via the app & it recognizes when I reinter the neighborhood & automatically unlocks my door. So again, a lot of good, just not perfect.
I bought this lock because it seemed compatible with my Google Home setup and the features caught my attention. I had exactly 4 successful auto unlocks when I first enabled the feature, it was magical. Now I get a notification that I am home and a loading bar that states "Unlocking Door". I am left to either produce my key or enter a PIN every time. Then 15 minutes later I am notified that "Auto Unlock has failed" without any reason or troubleshooting steps. Just as a reminder that this thing sucks.The finish on the lock would be a Pro if it wasn't for the fact that the "Black Suede" finish is seemingly the least popular Yale finish. They only offer a handful of matching products in that specific finish, with most of them being interior doorknobs and closet handles. So to get a matching exterior doorknob I need to go try and find a similar finish from another company.For the price, this thing is an absolute stinker. If I could melt this thing down into scrap metal it would be more useful as a doorstop thanks the "smart lock" they sold it to be. The smartest thing it can do is tell me that it doesn't work.

Just installed the Yale Assure 2 lock satin nickel keyed single cylinder deadbolt with push button keypad and Bluetooth on the side door to our garage and it works great. I use part of our garage as storage for my home renovation business and occasionally have employees pickup supplies or tools from the garage, the Yale Assure 2 lock allows them access to the garage with the key pad( no more handing over the keys to the whole house). Installation was easy as we have a standard exterior door and was installed and operating in about 30 minutes. You can set open and close times, plus enter multiple codes for who ever needs fulltime or just one time access (nice option). The deadbolt set comes with one key (going to get a couple of spares made) and four AA batteries, make sure to upload the app to your phone before you install the lock as you need it for installation. Overall a nice looking deadbolt set that works great and has useful features to help me operate my business.
