So yeah, I could NOT be more pleased! Now, for zZounds. I stumbled across their website while researching various types and brands of guitars for beginners. The fact that these guys know and understand that not everyone can just pull a card, or write a check, and get whatever they want has created a tremendous niche for them. And the fact that they made this process so simple and easy for someone like me to be able to own and begin my journey of learning has made me a customer for life! A huge shout-out to all of the folks at zZounds for recognizing this and catering to folks like me as well as the artists and musicians that devote more to their craft than they do their savings accounts. I can't say enough "good" about the "play as you pay" program. So all I am really left with is: "Thank You!"

I tried out a A1M during Black Friday sale and was so impressed I ordered the A3M the next day. As with many players I have an accumulation of guitars. Blueridge BG40 & BR160, Martin DSR, D15 & DX1. The A3M is a cut above the rest of the herd. The neck is a joy to play. It's fit and finish is superb. Even the padded gig bag is good. Played without amp it has excellent projection, string tone definition, good bass response. Plugged in it's comparable to my others with K & K's or Active I-Beam. It immediately became my go to guitar. Extra added benefit was GC 15% off and a $90.00 Yamaha rebate. $580! Incredible value.

It's a great dreadnaught guitar. The solid construction brings out the sound. I love the sound on it. I also took it to a professional musician and he was very impressed with the performance. And he said it needs no set up. So out-of-the-box a great playing guitar with solid quality construction. Yamaha has yet another Winner.

Fantastic!

I now own 9 Yamaha guitars after going through the whole gamut of choices from all the big name companies. I have bought 44 guitars since 1-1-2018 including all the major US brands, and the Yamaha A series are the BEST for the money hands down. Make sure you get 2017 or newer and you will not believe how good these sound both acoustically and plugged in. Of the acoustics I have bought I kept the Yamaha A5R (best guitar on the market period), AC3R, A3M, LLTA and LS16R. I also have some M's and Tak's, but the Yami's are just great, play them and see for yourself. They are also beautifully made and the fit and finish is just great, why anyone would pay more for a plywood guitar just because of the name when you can get these solid wood models is beyond me. Trust me I tried them, 2's, 4's 7's and 8's, GBirds, 45's, you name it, these are just better. Everyone that sees them and hears them gets one. The problem is they are not in the stores, usually only the A1 series, which are nice, but they don't have the electronics of the 3 and 5 series, which are second to none. With the GC 45 day return policy you owe it to yourself to order one, you will be glad you did.

Great Guitar- Solid Wood and a Great Sound
13 January 2020

When I started looking for a new, mid-level acoustic electric, I initially felt pressured to get a Taylor (114ce) or Martin, based on reviews and articles. However, when I went in the store and played everything, I found myself wanting a solid wood guitar, rather than the Taylor or Martin guitars that had layered sides and back (laminate). When I started playing the more expensive Yamaha guitars, I found this Yamaha A Series. I had to go to another music store to play this guitar, but instantly loved it and kept coming back to it. This guitar plays great both unplugged and plugged. The dual pickup is great and offers more than the others in it's price range. Yamahas also offer a better low range, which produces a richer sound in my opinion. Great features with lots of flexibility plugged in
10 September 2017

Easy to dial-in my sound when plugged in. There are several good sounds built into the preamp - Just pick one and play. The built-in tuner is easy to work with even when tuned to a half step down. This thing does as advertised. I decided to give this a chance after playing a lower-end Yamaha that impressed with its sound and feel. If they can do that with laminate, they have to make a good solid wood performance featured instrument. I played it out the other night and I could pick on it easily and all the notes came through the mix. Could've paid more and gotten a lot less.

Perfect Guitar!!
10 June 2016

I've played and owned many guitars over the years including many of "the big three" models. This guitar really has what I'm looking for. You can take it wherever you like without worrying too much about it. It sounds like a beautiful solid mahogany guitar unplugged. It can sound however you like plugged in. The preamp is superb. I like it better than any other that I have tried. Solidly built and acoustically magic. You won't regret this one! Better yet you won't be afraid to take it out and play it anywhere!

So glad I did
24 January 2019

I was looking for something a bit more practical to do solo/duets with other than my Martin D-28 or my Gibson SJ100. After researching and playing ( several trip to GC and a trip to Sweetwater ) I had decided on an A series Yamaha. Love the electronics on these guitars as well as the unplugged sound. I lucked out and MF had a open box saving me about 300 dinero . When it arrived I inspected it thoroughly and other than some light pick scratches on the guard, It was flawless. Set up was great right out of the box. Low action, No fret buzz and, intonation was right on. I would give it a 5 star if it had a built in tuner. I got the sunburst A3M ARE model...its a looker too!

Yamaha A series guitars

Overall:I would just like to say that I own the Yamaha A5R and I have played the A3M and I am bothered that zZounds put a subpar review about these guitars from someone that may or may not have purchased a Yamaha guitar back in 2011. All of the things he says about the guitar under the A3M ad are nothing like the A+ qualities of these awesome all solid wood guitars! And to prove he isn't talking about one of these Yamaha A series guitars, he remarks about the onboard tuner and how he does like it and how it mutes the guitar when you use it. Well these guitars do NOT have onboard tuners and they haven't for years. So I am just bothered that they posted this review when it is talking about a guitar this guy purchased back in 2011. Well these guitars do NOT have onboard tuners and they haven't for years. So I am just bothered that they posted this review when it is talking about a guitar this guy purchased back in 2011. Because although he may have purchased one 10 years ago, he is not talking about one of these superb instruments. These guitars compete with the sound and make quality of $2000-3000 dollar guitars with the high quality solid woods they are made of as well as the great electronics in them. It's not the SRT 63's that are in them it's the SRT 66 electronics so you can't listen to how he talks negatively about the poor sound of the pickup once he plugged it in. Also, the previous SRT systems were great to. Perhaps the reviewer should have plugged the guitar into an acoustic guitar amp if he's even talking about a Yamaha at all! P.S. I love zZounds and have a lot of nice gear and I appreciate the privileges they have awarded me for paying alwsys on time. I just have a lot of respect for Yamaha instruments for making such high quality instruments affordable to the common man. Instruments that you would have to pay twice as much for the same quality and the same woods of a guitar that begins with say M or T. Thank you

I have several Martin's (DRS, D15, DX) AND a couple Blue ridge (BR160 & BG40). This guitar is a cut above them. They all sound and play well but this A3m immediately became my go to guitar. Plugged in or acoustic it's great. All my others needed set ups and pickups added except for the A3M. It was fine out of the box. I'm contemplating selling some of the others because their play time has become virtually zero. In their price range there's no equal.
