Yamaha APX600 Acoustic Electric Guitar - Oriental Blue Burst

(1,212 reviews)

The Yamaha APX600 Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar combines incredible comfort, easy top-fret access and an incredible sound ready for all stages in your life. Now featuring a distinct oval abalone rosette, the new APX600 will strike a chord with any recreational acoustic player that wants to plug-in. As an electric guitarist in the '80s, if you wanted to play acoustic on stage there were few options available. In 1987, Yamaha made the first acoustic guitar that could be taken from a guitar rack, plugged in and played at volume, problem free; no more howling feedback, misplaced mics or dreaded extended sound checks. The latest APX600 features a unique under-saddle piezo pickup, the Yamaha proprietary SRT transducer featured in the highly-acclaimed A Series range, a natural tone and the feedback rejection and mix-friendly sound guitarists crave. Although its style has evolved, the essence of the APX remains the same. Today, it boasts a more natural look, a deeper body for better bass response and greater volume, and a new non-scalloped bracing pattern for a responsive, dynamic tone.

A great guitar at a great price!

I've been after a replacement for my dirt cheap Chord acoustic for some time. The APX 600 is highly rated and is at a price that was within my budget, so I thought I'd give it a go. I have to say that the reviews were right and I was not disappointed! The price may not be high but that doesn't mean the quality has suffered. The guitar looks absolutely fantastic in oriental blue burst and the finish is excellent throughout. I also play electric guitar frequently, so the APX 600's slim neck and body make it the perfect size for quick and easy transitions between the two.As for the sound, it is absolutely spot on. The built-in equaliser allows for complete tone customisation, so you can tweak it to whatever song or style you want to play.On piece of advice I'll give is to buy a new set of quality strings along with the guitar. The included strings are ok to try it out, but feel a bit "scratchy" to me. Putting a set of D'Addarios on it made a great guitar sound even better!Overall I just can't fault this guitar. Great quality, great sound, great comfort. Highly recommended!

A top quality and versatile instrument for £349

This guitar is a total joy to pick up and play. Its build quality and looks are fantastic and it has the feel and sound of a much more expensive instrument than its £349 bargain price tag. The fretboard, playability and tones are really great as well. It doesn’t matter what style of music you like to play as this guitar won’t let you down. The electronics are also very good with great tonal range and depth when played through an amp. There is also a build in tuner which makes life so much easier when you need a quick adjustment. Highly recommended for beginners as well as intermediate / advanced players

APX600FM-I traded in a very nice recently acquired D'Angelico acoustic for this guitar because the D'Angelico was just too big-bodied for what I had in mind. Nothing at all against the D'Angelico other than the size, and what it was I needed. I'm very glad I tried out this Yamaha and out of quite a few smaller bodied guitars I tried, this one stood out the most. In just about every way. And, it sang. Played great. Perfect size (I'm primarily an electric player). I don't need big and boomy. Maybe down the road. I have always been very happy with Yamaha products and am a very proud owner of an SA2200. A stunning, absolutely stellar guitar. The APX600FM is a real looker, too. I'm very happy. This is me putting " #sweepstakes " in the message for entry purposes.

Good quality product. OUTSTANDING SERVICE
25 January 2024

Loving my new Yamaha acoustic electric. Wish I could pick wives like I pick guitars.sounds great... everything I wanted. reasonable price, especially in these particular (no comment ) times.SERVICE WAS OUTSTANDING, as always. I always feel like I'm somebody in the Houston/ West Rd. location. Unlike some other music stores, where the "cool dude" long haired guy is too "cool" for you dumb boomer questions. Nice people, Very helpful.

Very happy with it. Staff member (Wiz) execellent also and very helpful at Manchester Store.

Great guitar for the price, received with broken electronics
14 September 2023

I received this with broken electronics, and Yamaha refuses to honor the warranty. Guitar Center says the repair is free, but Yamaha refuses to send parts for repair without my paying for them. Thus, I have to give this a terrible review to let folks know if anything goes wrong, you're on your own. As a result of this, I'll never buy another Yamaha instrument, and wouldn't recommend anyone else do so either. This is sad, because otherwise, overall, this is a great guitar for the price, a good starter guitar that's smaller-bodied, and thus easier for me as a beginner and someone who is smaller in stature and with medium size hands to hold and play, especially when compared to some other cheaper entry level guitars. Great performance for the price
20 August 2024

Overall:This thin line guitar sounds great. Its not loud but not quite either. It makes it great for just strumming in my living room. The big thing for me is that it's thin and not bulky like my other acoustic guitars. I have a bad right shoulder and it makes it easy to play. The electronics are not bad at all and I love that they use 2 AA batteries and not 9 volt battery. The frets are better than expected in that there is no sharp eges. All smooth. Tuners are smooth and work just fine. The pick up works great and I'm not getting any buzzing or interference. I can't find anything to hate on this guitar. It's a great guitar for the money.

Nice guitar, good price. Would recommend.
9 March 2023

This is my first guitar so this is gonna be coming from a beginners perspective. I think that this is a good guitar for new people. For starters it's an acoustic electric guitar which it's great having options starting a new hobby. Some other things that beginners will appreciate is that it has a tuner built in, and it's a little slimmer than some other acoustic guitars. Which makes handling it a little easier for new comers. It's pretty cheap too. Which is really great for people who might pick this up and put it down after a month and never touch it again. As for the guitar itself, it sounds great! I played a couple of different guitars and I liked the sound of this one over two other guitars I was looking at. Definitely recommend. 27 June 2023

This guitar has a remarkable tone for one at this price point. It sounds decent when unplugged or plugged in. The action is fast and the neck is short scale and electric width so comfortable to play although not ideal for players with larger fingers. The cut away allows access to all notes without fret buzz. The blue finish looks fabulous. My fellow bandies are jealous it is a thing of beauty. This would make a great beginners guitar. Mine is a backup, but, man, this is a fun instrument to play. It often gets pulled out first as it is much narrower than my Taylor and better to rock out a bit with.. big kids never grow up...

Wonderful buy for this beginner guitarist
20 July 2024

I am a beginner. I bought a cheap guitar from another establishment. It was too big and awkward but being a newbie, I naively didn't know that guitars came in different sizes. I walked into the Guitar Center and inquired about it and got such a nice young man (I think his name was Max) and I left with this guitar. It is fantastic. It fits me perfectly. My playing has improved 100%. It's not only a beautiful guitar, but it also has a tuner on it. I'm so satisfied with my purchase.
