I use this AV Receiver with Klipsch Reference Speaker's for all 7 speaker outputs and matched with the Outputs for crystal clear sound and no problems. I use Banana plugs for every wire connection so none will ever touch or come apart . I also have 2 450 watt 12" amplified subs for some extra Bass 🔊 if needed. I would like to have seen a cooling fan on this Unit due to the thin cooling Material in the receiver but with a small fan of your own on top of the unit it never gets hot anyways. I haven't had the volume over 70% and for movies ½ volume is easily loud enough for my needs and the layout of the speakers provide excellent sound for the way I knew I was going to have it setup before I went to the store. But I note that an article in AVforums said that HDMI 2.1 ready receivers from Denon and Marantz also suffered from the same problem as Yamaha receivers, and of course that might not be a complete list of brands using the defective chips. So if you are thinking of purchasing a new receiver right now, be very, very careful.Yamaha Canada has so far been of little help. But because it is a common problem, I hope that making it a little more widely known will galvanize them into some kind of action. I become angrier every evening that I watch TV surrounded by silent speakers.

Purchased over the weekend, delivered Monday a day earlier than expected so plus points for RC.If you have had a Yamaha amp in the past you will be happy that all the DSP are present as is the sound quality. Fairly easy to setup, but for easy of setup connect the unit to your home network first and use the browser interface (192.168.0.XX/setup).Had no issues with banana plugs, just undo the locks nuts a bit the they go in.Feels a solid built unit and does look nice, bit of fingerprint magnet though.Now the bad bits.The display is a horrible LCD display with a poor light, you have a light grey block with white text and even if you turn down the back down its still a grey block. RC and Yamaha show a nice blue display on the websites, its not what you get ... I've had this receiver for nearly four months now. On paper, it has everything I wanted at a great sale price when I picked it up. However, it doesn't seem to want to show off its stuff. The receiver goes through stretches where it causes apps on my streaming box to crash due to DRM issues, but most of the time it works as it should. Until it randomly just turns off, that is. Every eco-setting and timer has been disabled, but it will occasionally just turn off. As with the DRM issue, it happens frequently until it doesn't happen at all for a while. Perhaps the most annoying feature meant to upset everyone in the house, it will randomly grab AirPlay content from Apple devices in the house. I previous owned a Yamaha receiver for many years that worked great until some of the input HDMI ports started not working. So I bought a new Yamaha receiver expecting the same quality. I have 4 input devices plugged into the new receiver that both the audio and video signal are then sent to my tv with no problem. Here is the one problem - the volume information that is passed to the tv for display only works for 1 input device! The previous Yamaha receiver displayed the information for ALL 4 devices! I contacted technical non-support explaining the issue and was told since this wasn't a "known issue" to them, they would NOT be looking into the issue. So, they are ignoring the problem I presented to them. Buyer Beware!

Sound Quality more or less remains the same against the RX-V657 which i brought 15 years ago. Dialogue delivery is horrible especially when streaming thru OTT channels (HD). I seriously don't know what Yamaha is doing. Other brands like Denon and Marantz are delivering better sounds. Being a loyal customer of Yamaha, i went for this RX-V6A, however my loyalty is now shaken up. May be Yamaha doesn't care anymore for its products. HDMI Switch, HDMI Sound out for the Firestick to the Yamaha Amp, Digital sound out from the Panasonic to the Yamaha amp so wires everywhere and my wife had no clue had to control it all and with no HDMI capability, yet another remote for the HDMI Switch!The RX-V6A has multiple HDMI Inputs so the Panasonic and Firestick plug directly into this so no extra sound inputs required.The sound is markedly improved and with Bluetooth, smart phone controls, Internet Radio ... the list goes on and on.... it is simply incredible.It punches way above its weight and I cannot ... Bought my Yamaha RX-V6 on line through Amazon. Bought it 2 months ago. My previous receiver was a Yamaha. Had it for 20 years. So I felt I definitely would buy another Yamaha receiver. Since I bought it in December I didn't test my outdoor speakers which I would use Zone 2. In the end of February I decided to put my outdoor speakers up again to check the receiver. Well what happened is my zone 2 came on but very low volume. Unable to make the volume louder. Called Yamaha Tech support. The tech support went through a very involved process to check things out. Final results were the receiver needed to be repaired. So I'm at the point where they are sending me a box to pack the unit to be mailed to an authorized service center. It is prepaid by Yamaha.
