I bought a pair of these DBR12 speakers to use for occasional DJing and band use, as well as listening to music at my house since I like loud music. After doing research on several other brands of PA speakers of similar size and power, it just made so much more sense to get the Yamaha, especially since I know how good Yamaha is with basically everything they make and I've had great experiences with their products. My first impression after unboxing was that they are very visually appealing and well constructed, and have a very nice weight to them. Let's just say I was blown away at the volume and sound quality these things have when I listened for the first time! Another thing I like is that they have cooling fans in the amplifiers to keep them cool which is nice if you use them outside or for a very long time. For the price, there's no way you'll find a better speaker, and I would 100% recommend without hesitation, you won't be disappointed with these Yamaha speakers. Another thing to mention is that I have had a lot of experience using DBR10s as well, and think they are excellent especially for their size and price. They are actually what turned me on to the DBR series and I knew from using those that the DBR12s wouldn't disappoint me.

The myriad of positive reviews for this speaker are no joke. Bought 2 from DJ City, plugged em in, and boy are they good. Light, fantastic sound. Great bass response without flubbery or distortion. Highs are defined but not shrill, mids present but not over powering. Of course you can mix these, and any speaker for that matter, to your own tastes and needs. But out the box these are just brilliant. Do yourself a favour - save your arms and back, please your listeners’ ears, and buy these speakers. The money you save can go into something else! Would buy again, if need be, in a heartbeat.

After doing a lot of research for a powered speaker for my synth, and having a bad experience with a Behringer keyboard amp, i settled on this. I’m not sure how it compares to others in this price range, I couldn’t try before buying, but I’m very pleased with this. Clarity is very good, with little or no hiss, and the low end is tight without being over powering. and the angle it sits at is just perfect. The controls are simple but effective. I didn’t want anything with too much DSP in it, i would never need it. Compared to the PA i use at the rehearsal studios this is so smooth across the freq range. Makes me smile when i play pianos through it.A couple of small negatives. Its not exactly light. Not a big deal at all though. I do wish it had a handle on the top though. My db Technology Opera PA speakers are similar in weight but are easier to carry because of the top handle. Again, not a deal breaker and overall its not a problem carrying this.

Great for acoustic digital piano voice samples
6 December 2022

I use two of these in stereo for my digital pianos (Yamaha P-200, P-125, P-515), which I play almost exclusively using acoustic piano voice samples with a split keyboard (acoustic bass on the lower voice). The sound is amazing for both voices. I have had several puzzled people from the audience ask me where the bass is coming from and when I explain, they are so surprised that "it sounds like a real acoustic bass!" There is no comparison to my "keyboard amp", which sounds good for most voices EXCEPT acoustic piano samples. I use these on Yamaha stands (which are inexpensive, super light, but do the job) and connect everything to an MG06X mixer so that I can run longer, balanced XLR cables to them. Be sure to get the Yamaha brand covers for them. The covers are a bit pricey but you will want to protect these speakers so that you can keep them forever! They also are a perfect fit. These speakers put out plenty of volume but don't let their 1000 watt rating (2000 watts for a pair) stupefy you. You still need to crank these babies up pretty high, even in medium-sized clubs. The 12" speakers are more than sufficient for rendering excellent bass and I'm glad I did not go with the heavier DBR15's. You also might want to invest in longer power cords as I did. I added a 25' cord so thatthe speaker farthest from my extension box could be hooked up directly without using an extension cord. In short, I love them!

Great for acoustic guitar and vocals and maybe more
23 October 2018

I play acoustic guitar and sing. I use a Yamaha MG10XU mixer. I play retirement homes and small venues. I don't need a lot of volume so I can't speak to the loudness of the speakers. I did try a 12" cab but that was more than I needed and heavier than I wanted to carry so I exchanged it for the 10", I have two now. These 10" cabs are excellent sounding for my purpose. If I needed a larger system I'd either go with these on top of subs or get the 12s or 15s. Good clarity and sound. I will say that they cost more than Alto and Behringer but from what I heard on youtube they sound better, you get what you pay for. Never had a problem with Yamaha.

Yamaha speakers have always been well regarded, so I was expecting good things, but this is absolutely brilliant. The portability, sound and ease of use are fantastic. As a bit of context, I’ve worked in live and studio sound settings and am hard to please.I wanted a Jack-of-all trades that would serve as an acoustic guitar/vocal speaker for live gigs, a means of amplifying vocals at band rehearsals, and an amp to run high end electronic drums through. There’s no weakness in the sound for any of these applications, and it happily competes with the sound levels of a very ā€˜enthusiastic’ drummer on an acoustic kit. It’s also super easy to set up, and even without an external mixer it’s versatile enough for what I’ve needed it for.I can’t recommend it highly enough, ...Ā MoreYamaha speakers have always been well regarded, so I was expecting good things, but this is absolutely brilliant. Dear all, request you to take this review seriously. I write this review after 3 years of YAMAHA DBR10 use. First I mentioned the bad experience. I bought 1 pair of this speakers and one piece lost its high and mid frequency after 10 months. As it was within warranty so I got it repaired . BUT THE STRANGE PART IS THAT THE SAME SET SHOWED THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER 2 YEARS. IN THESE 2 YEARS I MIGHT HAVE USED IT NOT MORE THAN 25 TIMES. No no no don't think that I might have damaged the Twitter due to loud volume because I use them for conference and the speakers run only to its 20% of efficiency because in conferences u never need high volume. The other set is working fine. That clearly shows that there is some manufacturing defect as the same set is showing same problem ...Ā MoreDear all, request you to take this review seriously. Well, apart from above the speakers sound really good. But durability matters, Sir. If the product is not durable then better we should not go for it.Guys, never think that I might have damaged by set due to careless operations. Trust me I am very particular about taking care of my AV equipments.

Very God Speakers For This Price Range
15 April 2017

I got these after reading many reviews for powered speakers. I have been using a pair of Yamaha MSR 250 but needed more powerful speakers now that our duo has turned into a 5 piece band. These speakers do quite well in close proximity and we need that quality as most of the venues we perform in have limited space for bands. The tone is quite good and the speakers are adaptable with the various settings. The weight is light enough to be fairly easy to deal with. We put vocals, acoustic guitar, electronic drums, piano and some bass into the system. That's a lot to ask but they handle it without any audible distortion. Yamaha products have always performed well in my experience with never a failure yet. I perform several times a month and would buy these again.

Well made Speaker from Yamaha
14 August 2021

I bought 4 of these for a large scale graduation ceremony. I needed wide dispersion and high output. These speakers are easily the best in their class. I own EV ZLX too, and these Yamahas sound better and perform better. I love the multiple inputs and how little they weigh for a 12 inch powered speaker. Add a 15 or 18 inch sub and this is a great sounding little PA system! Great value for the price!
