This is the best beginner/student classical guitar there is bar none. It's full size and the intonation is spot on, the tuners (whilst basic) are fully functional and consistent. The bridge saddle has 3rd string compensation and is set to a low-ish action. Putting a new set of EJ45's opens up the sound considerably (don't play with the crappy strings that are on it). Great second or studio guitar for the experienced player. Stick it in a half decent case and you'll have a fantastic holiday guitar for around £150. The spruce soundboard already sounds good and will improve with age. Buy, play it - chuck it about. - it's very well made and robust. Finish is shiny and cleans with a wipe. Buy it today.

I was looking for a good beginner's guitar, and I wanted something with nylon strings. I did a pretty extensive search in order to find an instrument that was relatively inexpensive yet had some degree of quality. I read reviews on this particular model, and most seemed to be pleased. I was able to purchase one that, I'm guessing, had been returned, and I was very pleased with both the reduced price and the condition/quality of the guitar. The guitar itself has a very beautiful and mellow tone. It stays in tune, only requiring minor adjustments from time-to-time. I would not recommend this for young people or those adults with smaller hands, as the neck is somewhat wider than one might expect. All-in-all a very fine instrument for the price.

This Yamaha C40 II is really fantastic value for money.Brilliant build quality and sound.Perfect for a beginner or more experienced player. Recent purchase of a Brunswick BF 200 from PMT which also is excellent.Delivery and packaging for both guitars was fast and well organised. If I eventually decide to try going electric then PMT will be my first port of call.
This is not an expensive guitar but is excellent value for money. I particularly like the Matt finish on the neck. When compared to my main guitar ( which cost over double 35 years ago ) you can see where corners have been cut, a little blemish in the finish and the finish does not extend into the machine head roller slots and the join between the finish of the neck and body could be better but play the guitar and all this is forgiven, the neck and fretboard are comfortable and I would score it high on playability. But best is the sound which I find very comparable to my main guitar!! Not bad for an instrument bought just to practice on while out and about! Recommended
Buying my Yamaha guitar was a pleasant experience. Upon entering I was kindly attended and took me to see acoustic guitars, I crossed the room and in a panoramic view I could see different types of instruments. I asked for a Yamaha and they immediately showed me a mahogany color that I liked. To appreciate it, I strummed it and a large volume of sound came out of its soundboard which impressed me. I proceeded to tune it with my tuning fork and in a moment all the strings gave the exact value of their musical note, in the different positions of their frets. For this kindness of the instrument, I valued it very much and encouraged me to try it. I played some bars of Prelude No. 1 by S. Bach, Prelude No. 1 by H. Villa-Lobos, and completely the Romance Anonymous, compilation by M. Llobet. With extraordinary amazement and joy I fell in love with the beautiful sound when playing the guitar; pure, clear, without any clicks and with a very beautiful timbre. I noticed an equilibrium and balance in the sound of its bass and treble. I found the instrument very soft when playing it. Everything mentioned denotes the personality of this guitar that seduced me. I hardly compared it with other guitars, without hesitation I chose it. Knowing its price I said to myself, I'll take it. For its quality, finish and price I recommend it!Shopping at the Sam Ash Music Store completes the experience.
The guitar is good overall. It's well finished and sturdy. Since this is a beginner instrument, I was expecting it to have fret marks, which it didn't. I also didn't like the sound, but that may be the default strings. I'm planning to change the string to get a better sound. But it may just be me. I showed it to my friends and they think the sound is good and were even considering buying it for themselves.
Good overall. Great sound, good quality.Only issue I have with it is the fact that the 3 bass strings are poorly made. They make an annoying buzzing sound and I would need to buy new strings to get rid of it.I love this guitar besides that. I've played metal string acoustics, electrics and I really wanted a warm sounding easy-to-play guitar with nylon strings. It's been wonderful. Great introduction to classical nylon string guitars.Would recommend.
This is a practice tool for me. It has been my go-to for figuring out chord progressions and learning new material as well as noodling on what little classically inspired prog rock I do know. It has been a treat to play since I first tuned it in the store and I am sure it will be for years to come. The reason I actually bought the thing was because of the hospitality of the salesperson on the floor. She was so nice to me and my group, I could not in good conscience leave without making a purchase. Fortunately for me, Yamaha hit a home run with this one!
My granddaughter (10 years of age) is taking guitar lessons in school and as she hadn't lost interest during the autumn term we felt it was time to buy her her first guitar. Her tutor recommended this one. I ordered it 'click and collect' from PMT and literally had to run into the shop and run back out without chatting to the salesperson, or looking at the product (I was parked up in a loading bay). When I got home I was a little bit worried to see it was in a box with a name I'd never heard of and 'made in China' printed on it. I assumed it would have come in a Yamaha branded box. I was REALLY worried - but I needn't have been. Opened the box - and there is was, in a slip cover, and it looked fab! I did wonder (given that it had been shipped from China) whether it ... I did wonder (given that it had been shipped from China) whether it would sound OK or need a thorough tuning before it was playable, but on Christmas morning my granddaughter opened the box, squealed with glee, and straight away played a simple but recognisable tune, and the guitar and it sounded as good as is should have! I was super pleased! The only disadvantage to buying from a shop rather than Amazon is that I wasn't prompted to buy a cover (which she will definitely need), spare strings etc. This is an excellent product for the money imo.
