I bought these to replace my 30-year old Mission bookshelf speakers, as I now have a bigger lounge. My initial impression on taking them out of the box, is that they are well built with a nice finish. I already had good quality speaker cables terminating in banana plugs, so I didn't need to use the supplied cables. I opted to remove the grilles, as I like to see the exposed drivers! At first, I didn't like the sound much, but this was because they needed running in, which can take 20-30 hours. Now, 3 days later, they sound terrific! The bass is maybe a little heavy, but I can remedy this by turning down the bass control on my amp. Mid-range & treble are clear, without any shrillness. I have a new yamaha 5.1 hmdi type amp just upgraded from another yamaha amp. I alread had one set of these so addind another new pair has proven to be amazing. If you have the cash i recomend the whole lot. Speakers are fantastic

Good Points: Very good value for money.Good sound.Other speakers from the same range are also available.Improvement Points: They could look a bit better, they look quite plain without mesh. If they didn't have Yamaha logo then you could think it is the cheapest speaker on the market.The Cable is so thin that I couldn't even securely screw it into AV, had to buy 4mm.
What can i say, excellent set of speakers right out of the box, bass is top class mid range top notch, you don't even need to go high with the volume, will need to allow them to break in to there best sound over time music is back to real music now, my old speakers made me think that music is sounding dull? is it my cd player? NO, my amp? NO, my speakers YES! not now, i have Yamaha NSF51
