Yamaha P45B Digital Piano - Black

$470.00

(1,978 reviews)

Yamaha's most affordable digital piano. The authentic piano sound and key feel make it easy to play this simple model any way you like. Authentic to the touch. Yamaha's GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) weighted action has heavier touch in the low end and lighter touch in the high end, just like the hammers inside an acoustic piano. Great for the aspiring pianist, practicing on the GHS action builds the proper finger technique for when the time comes to perform on an acoustic piano. Plus the matte finish of the black keys are less slippery when playing for extended periods of time. Tried and true, Yamaha's classic sound engine for realistic tone. AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) sampling uses digital technology to record the sound of an acoustic piano. AWM Stereo Sampling creates a deeper, richer and more spacious sound by using pairs of waveforms (L and R) captured with two microphones. The P-45 uses AWM to play one sample per key at varying levels of volume and timbre.

EXCELLENT keyboard w/ real piano feel!

I ordered this new P-115 as a level 2 (used) and it arrived in it's original box. One of the foam end blocks was crushed but it survived transit OK nevertheless. It looks like no one has ever used it, not a smudge, and I got the white one, quite stunning. I have owned the older P-120 for over a decade, having taught myself to play by ear, and I thought that model was fairly realistic in feel and sound, but this P-115 is superior in many ways. It weighs in at 26 lbs., roughly half that of the P-120, so easier portability to start with. I also like the feel of the keys, the black keys have a matte finish and it has several variable touch settings. The selection is almost infinite, and with headphones you can sound like you're in almost any room or hall situation you can imagine. I haven't messed with all the accompaniment functions just yet, but I imagine they will be awesome as well. Also like the pitch fine-tuning capabilities of this keyboard. So many features for so little money is simply amazing. The speakers definitely have more treble, which is a good thing, too. If there are any negatives to this thing, I suppose dedicated buttons for most of the settings somewhere on the top panel would have been nice, instead of having to learn the many key stroke commands for the various settings, but I see it as an obvious cost-cutting idea and can't really say too much against it in the long run. I look forward to many years of good music-making with this keyboard and can honestly say it's such a step up in quality from my old P-120. I must commend Musician's Friend for supplying me with such a nice unit and I could not tell it was previously returned for whatever reason. The only thing missing in the box was the music rest, but since I play by ear I really would never use it so can't fault them there, especially since I got it at a huge discount off regular price!

I am thrilled with this piano. Years back, I owned a beautiful baby grand but unfortunately had to sell due to a move. I've recently decided to get back into playing and wanted a quality digital piano that would play like an acoustic. This is the one. I didn't need or want the bells and whistles of other styles, but the P115 has just enough extras to enjoy. I use the recording option a lot when practicing new pieces... just record one hand and practice the other. The accompaniment features are also fun to play around with. I'm looking forward to using my IPad to choose features and that was a further reason to buy this particular piano.I can't say enough about the quality of the P115, which is incredibly high for the price. I have an older digital from 25 years ago, when I paid four times the cost of this one. I looked at many for the last several years before I bought and the P115 offered the real piano experience I was seeking. The keyboard touch is just right and the sound is so authentic. I use the speakers, which have a rich sound, or my headphones when practicing and don't want to disturb the household. Both experiences are wonderful.I play at home, where the piano sits on the optional black furniture stand. It's compact and looks great, and is completely sturdy. I would not hesitate to use the P115 in a performance, it's that good. Beginners will find the P115 as a perfect piano to grow into and won't stop your progress when your playing improves. Longtime players will appreciate the 88 keys, the subtle touch, and the lovely sound. You just can't go wrong with this piano. It's truly one of the best purchases I've ever made. Thanks to Yamaha for continuing a real piano line for folks who want to play a real piano.

There were others with better bundle deals, but they came with items that I would have to switch out later or didn't have the finance plan I wanted. So this deal was the better deal for me personally. Otherwise, in terms of the piano itself, I like it very much from a newbie point of view. Obviously I can't give any professional critique but as a student the keyboards feels nice and like a real piano so at least my fingers are getting some exercise ;-) I haven't tried what little bells and whistle it may have, but the midi was simple to connect to the computer using a printer cable. I've practice over 10 hours using an online piano lesson program. Only thing I've heard occasionally is when I've struck a key by itself I can hear the faint echo of a digitalized sound. ... MoreThere were others with better bundle deals, but they came with items that I would have to switch out later or didn't have the finance plan I wanted. Good quality for price, except stand
18 February 2018

The keyboard is easy to set up and comes with all the appropriate cables. I really like that the music stand insert is longer than standard sizes and accommodates more sheet music--very convenient. The sustain pedal that was included is a little awkward being that it's so small, but the package add-on pedal is excellent with a real piano feel to it. The sound of the keyboard is a bit "tinny" for my liking, but for the price and to teach lessons with it's fine. I love the bench, although using it on a marley dance floor it makes strange sounds every time I sit on it and my students can't stop giggling. I don't suspect it'd be an issue on carpet. It's very comfortable and I taught 8 hours of lessons on it with no discomfort. The keyboard stand is an absolute ... MoreThe keyboard is easy to set up and comes with all the appropriate cables. I spent 45 minutes following the instructions only to find that the color-coded stickers were put on the wrong pieces, the holes are drilled incorrectly and the X-bar seems to have been attached backwards on of the legs. I'm going to fiddle with it for another day to try and rig it to a usable condition before returning it. Pretty disappointed that my "professional" new set-up had to be downgraded to using boxes to hold the keyboard.

First of all I don't normally do Product Reviews but this one I felt I had to. Even though I am an Experienced musician, I am just now teaching myself Piano (I had lessons as a child). I needed a Piano/Keyboard that I can learn on with Graded Keys but also one I could grow with and eventually take out to perform with. Bringing it home from the post office in my Nissan Sentra was an experience until I took it out of the box. If you carry yours in a soft case you can drop the 2/3 split back seat and it will fit that way. The response of the keys are excellent. Sleek design without too many buttons to figure out what they do. The sound, just from the keyboards speakers is amazing so I can only imagine what it will sound like when I hook it up to a PA System. I selected MIDI in this review (It has NO MIDI ports) however it does have USB to HOST and that worked instantly. I have a basic Piano Learning program and it hooked up seamlessly with the program. With that said, somewhat unrelated, Yamaha is partnered with MusicSoft's Playground Sessions Piano Lesson Program and I am seriously considering signing up for it. Now back to the Piano/Keyboard... it is not heavy considering the weight of some of the Big Boys in Stage Piano/Keyboards. As I said before, it can fit in my Nissan Sentra which is not a very big car. It also has other instrument sounds which can be controlled right on the panel or with iPad/iPhone apps of which I have tried out. They are more functional than the keyboard buttons so you should look into them. You can split the keyboard in half (figuratively) so that two can play at the same time or you can have one instrument on the right keyboard side and another on the left keyboard side. I have tried it... it works. So much more that I have not had a chance to try because I want to get back to learning. If you want a quality Piano/Keyboard and not spend a lot of money, you should get this one. Comes in White and Black but Black shows less smudges.

I spent a long time debating between this keyboard and the Casio PX160 but decided to go with the Yamaha after comparing the sounds first hand and on numerous YouTube videos. I absolutely love the sound and the action of the keyboard. I have an older Fatar weighted action keyboard which I previously liked, but which now feels poor by comparison. I have only two minor complaints. I wish that the keyboard remembered your last settings (for reverb, etc) instead of always starting with the same default sound on power up, and I wish there was some basic IQ capability. Got this Yamaha P-45 for my grandson (4.5 yo) to allow him to develop his talent in music. He's already got full size xylophone and a midi keyboard but he wouldn't stop from sneaking into my home office to get his hands on my P-515. Other reviews will go into more details with the different functions, but I just love the piano. I love the matte black flat keys. The keys have some resistance, which I’ve read is ‘fully weighted’. This is great for me as I want to maintain dexterity in my fingers. The stand is purchased separately, which I didn’t need, so all good there. I have settled the piano on a study desk which will require a higher chair. Volume is amazing, and whilst I relearn all my old pieces, I’m using headphones.Overall I’m very happy with my decision to purchase this model.

I have done a lot of research over quite some time. It was a toss up between the Yamaha p45 , Yamaha 125a, and the Roland FP-10. I really haven't been able to explore all the functions, other than a run up and done the keys, and some of the different sounds as the keyboard stand I have isn't suitable to this piano. I will be ordering the timber stand for the Yamaha P45 soon. I am a little disappointed in the volume level, with the speakers, and the sustain pedal is a bit flimsy. I always go with "Yamaha" as a rule, but on reflection the Roland FP-10 would have been my choice, but it came down to price at the end of the day. Saying that I can't complain. I am yet to explore the piano fully, but when I get the timber stand I will have a better idea about my purchase. ... MoreI have done a lot of research over quite some time.
