I purchased this looking to take my recording to the "next level" with that guitar's "big brother". Maybe Yamaha has the same problem as Toyota...they put so much quality into the entry-level that Lexus is hardly given a shake with the wary and wise type.I am thrilled with the guitar, don't get me wrong...see the HUGE list of pros above. But I am just not convinced that the price point is correct. It might just be because of the Seymour Duncan pickups...the non-tremolo guitar is several hundred less, and although they look similar, if you pay close attention the non-tremolo has Alnico (Yamaha's imitation pickups). I can testify to the high quality of Yamaha's pickups from my experience with the EG 112C.Problems upon receipt were that the strings were so crummy that the high E-string broke upon initial tuning; also, one of the three installed vibrato springs was half out of its hole. And finally, it took a professional tune-up to get the intonation correct. These things should not happen with a guitar so expensive. I hope Yamaha listens. The Seymour-Duncan tone is great...but so costly?

Read a review and then saw one at GC. The tones are fantastic. Better than many of the higher end guitars I tried side by side with it. The P90 & Humbucker is a GREAT combination. Plenty of chimmy cleans and rhythms. The bridge plenty of snarl and coil splits. I've got a number of higher end guitars but I keep picking this up over and over. The necks is one of the most comfortable necks I've played. The fret edges need some work but aside its as good as it gets. Don't take my word. Try one and you will see for yourself.

Brilliant all round guitar. I love it!!!
Great guitar for the money. Only real downside to this guitar is that it wasn't set up very well out of the factory. The quality of the finish is superb, the hardware is excellent and it's hard to see how they make them so reasonably priced. Lovely sound too. Highly recommend to anyone looking for something decent that won't break the bank.
I chose this guitar as a special use instrument. The genre of Praise and Worship demands clear, chimey bell tones through digital delay, on the verge of break-up chording, and full-blown overdrive- all in the course of one song. The combination of P-90 neck and HB bridge is well-suited to this application. I couldn't afford or justify Duesenberg I covet so I tried this guitar as an alternative. The SD pickups in this guitar are impressive. The soapbar P-90 does all the things they're famous for, lots of subtle control and such a broad range of tones from a single pickup. The HB bridge pickup has that power you like to really push an overdrive pedal and the coil tap gets you a really clear, bright, single coil tone. It's not going to get you all the way to a tele ... MoreI chose this guitar as a special use instrument. The HB bridge pickup has that power you like to really push an overdrive pedal and the coil tap gets you a really clear, bright, single coil tone. It's not going to get you all the way to a tele bridge clang, but it will definitely shimmer. Surprisingly, for as different as the two pickups are, they work really well together and are well-balanced power-wise. The middle position has a really nice rhythm voice and with the coil tap, it gets a nice stratty tone, not a full quack, but lots of clean character. The graphtec nut and grover tuners work great. Effortless tuning and hold pitch nicely. The fit and finish on this guitar is outstanding. The urethane finish is flawless and relatively thin, not the syrupy thick plastic you see on other Pac Rim entry level instruments I've bought. This is the top of the line Pacifica line and it's worth a little extra. I have Epi's and entry level Gretsches and I instanly upgraded the tuners, the nut, and the bridge. If you need to upgrade pickups to get the tone you're looking for, you can quickly get into a lot more money. None of this necessary on the Pacifica 600 series. The neck, fretboard, and fretwork are all nicely executed. The vintage size frets came dead-on flat and nicely polished with no buzzes, even with the 9s it shipped with. They're a little flat for my taste, so I'll be recrowning and polishing them, but that's just me.
What a guitar you get esp for the price. An unbelievable amount of quality hardware makes this a guitar you just have to own.It is of course what you expect from Yamaha with all their years of experience in the field of musical instruments.Grover Machine Heads, Duncan Seymour Pickups, Wilkinson Bridge.I could go on but but one for yourself and I guarantee you will not be disappointed
