Got this as an open box item for $368 dollars. I think there was a mistake because there were speakers included which I didn’t need. Replaced my Onkyo TX-NR646 because it would randomly drop audio and it’s was a major annoyance. The clarity of this unit is amazing. I notice a difference in the surround speakers as well, they are more active if you will. Had this receiver for a month and it has had zero issues. Running Klipsch 820f floor speaker for fronts, Klipsch center, Klipsch bookshelf speakers and Klipsch 12” subwoofer. I was a little worried this wouldn’t be powerful enough because it was less powerful than my Onkyo, but now I have no worries. Definitely recommend.

Here’s the skinny, this Yamaha was rated really high on Crutchfields website. So giving it 4 stars because the first one I purchased didn’t work and had to be returned and BB was great about getting me one sent to the house overnight… so far the replacement is working great and setup was a breeze . 80watts off power seems to be workable as my old Sony was 100 watts and seemed to have just a little more punch!! With all the latest gaming systems I need the 120hz compatibility, the gaming systems switch flawlessly after a Yamaha firmware update. Wish it worked perfect the first time i would of gave it 5 stars . But for a 5.2 system it rocks the walls and shakes the earth when pushed .. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again it’s a simple receiver to use and sounds great !!!
Bought this to replace an ancient Sony 5 DVD receiver/amp. We have built-in 4.1 speakers in our family room and this may be the first time we've had sound out of the rear speakers. Very easy to set up and optimize the sound profile.If you have Yamaha amps, I can't emphasize using the MusicCast app enough. Super easy to change from cable to SiriusXM or other inputs and you don't have to use the verkakta remote. Everything can be done in the app.This purchase only happened because I received a gift card and needed something to spend it on. Honestly couldn't be happier that I used it for this.
A great unit so far. Easy to setup, but lacking good documentation out of the box. Teh instructions could be clearer on how to operate certain features such as setup wifie for users who have never used a unit like this before (me). And the app instructions were complicated to navigate. But once you figure out that you need to have it connected to a TV to see the menu options best, then you should breeze through set up. I am currently loving the airplay to my unit and also customizing the unit and scenes in app.My current steup:- PS5- Switch- 40" Roku TV- Klipsch Reference 610F floor speakers and RP 250C center channel for 3.1 sound.

I love it! The built-in audio scene selections are great. I also really love the ability to stream audio from a large selection of internet sources via the phone app. It also has an adequate number of HDMI inputs for my home theater needs.What I wish I could do is more easily cast to it from my Google smart home system. While I can use my Google smart speakers for basic control of the unit (which works great), I cannot add it to my Google groups for casting audio. So, I have to choose between using Google speakers all throughout my house (which allows me to roam throughout my house) vs. listening via my Yamaha unit in only one room. This is my biggest frustration.
I had to replace my well-loved Yamaha AV Amplifier after it finally gave up the ghost after over 10 years. I have the original Cambridge 5:1 surround sound built in to my cottage and a 65” Panasonic LCD TV wall mounted so I wasn’t looking at changing all that as well. So, having trusted Yamaha for so long I decided not to stray away from the brand and bought the RX-V4A…a reluctant, “needs-must” purchase but boy am I pleased with my decision! Sound is crisp but the most noticeable improvement is in the performance and vision on the TV…it’s like it’s been upscaled to a 4K. Very impressed …plus it has a 6 year warranty/ guarantee! It also finally allowed me to integrate all of the components in that stack to all go into one device, I've got an Xbox One, a PC, and an older VCR/DVD unit all going through the amp. I had run the PC through my old amplifier to test awhile back but it had problems with passing through a usable resolution, the RX-V4A had no such problems. It sometimes does not see the Xbox right away when switching to it, but it always shows up after a few seconds. Overall I really dig the ability to integrate all of my components through one receiver and not have to do some kind of cable swap whenever I want to watch one of my old VHS movies. This is my first Bluetooth capable home receiver and I am glad to say that it works well, the range is better than the bt speaker that I have in my kitchen one room over so I usually use the receiver the whole time now. Yamaha Advertises that you can connect the Bluetooth to another Bluetooth sink device, and send sound to the second Bluetooth device as a simultaneous listening device. I could never successfully get it to pair with my Creative D100, which in fairness is quite old so the doubtless older version of the Bluetooth protocol that the device uses might be more at fault than Yamaha's hardware, your mileage may vary with that feature. Regarding the MusicCast app, I was a little annoyed by the fact that Yamaha had foisted yet another app on me to bloat my phone even more, but after using it for a few months now I do find the app usable if not the most convenient way to use the device wirelessly. There is a small learning curve but the app does function as advertised, but it would have been nice if the Receiver just played nice with my Google Home out of the box. The RX-V4A's bigger brother, the RX-V6A has more inputs and supports 7.1 and even atmos but I was just looking for a drop in replacement for my old Yamaha RX-V475 and the RX-V4A does the trick. I have been using it pretty much daily since November and it's still going strong.
