Yamazaki - Sherry Cask - 2016 Edition - Box Slightly Damaged

(5 reviews)

Dark brown color. Odor Nose dense, fruity, with notes of sherry, dried fruits such as raisins, plums, dates and tomatoes, with a touch of almonds, cloves and bitter chocolate. Taste good body. Slightly oily strong notes, chocolate and hazelnuts, as well as sweet and spicy touches. A very complex and deep, sherry, sweet and sour and dry, with notes, notes of cinnamon and clove, notes of coffee, orange peel, and a pinch of ginger whiskey. Description Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 was named as World Whisky of the Year in Jim Murray's 2015 Whisky Bible, this is a hugely anticipated release of Sherried Japanese whisky. Only 5,000 of these sought-after bottles will be available worldwide. Further Information Producer | Yamazaki: The Yamazaki distillery is located near the town of Shimamoto, in a place called the Yamazaki Valley, which served as the inspiration for the distillery's name. Known for producing a sweet, fruity and spicy style. Yamazaki was originally founded by Shinjiro Torii in 1924 becoming the first commercial distillery in Japan. The location of this distillery was due to the great diversity of water sources and high relative humidity, an environment conducive to whisky making and maturation. Suntory now has the largest single malt market share in Japan and exports to over ten countries. The Yamazaki distillery has won numerous awards and in 2015 Jim Murray of the Whisky Bible book named Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 the best whisky of the year.
