Yamazakura is a very interesting “blended” Japanese whiskey, produced by the company Sasanokawa Shuzo. Sasanokawa Shuzo date from 1765 and are best known for producing high quality sake and schochu. This whiskey has a very romantic name, a combination of the words Yama and Sakura. Yama means mountain in Japanese, while Sakura is Japanese for cherry, so the title of this drama evokes a peaceful scene of the Japanese landscape, shown on the bottle label. Whiskey is not distilled by Sasanokawa, but it is a mixture of four different malt whiskeys and a little grain to join them together. It presents flavors of tropical fruits and some floral, buttery notes.
